Do you know what the technical term is for dropping out notes from a subdivision? I just call it 'drop notes'
@tubular1672 жыл бұрын
Its called a rest.....or rested note
@MikeBarnesDrums2 жыл бұрын
Well this figure is just a combination of an eighth note and two 16th notes, so I'd say there isn't any note "dropped" or "rested" officially - the "e" was never there as the space it would occupy is part of the eighth note on beat 1. But I get that can be a useful way to think of it to get the feel :) No particular name for it to my knowledge.

@@MikeBarnesDrums yes mike..because your dealing in a subdivision...16ths here.... The feel is always 1e and a.....so of course any of those notes that you dont play. Are... implied notes.....in that feel.....so even tho there is no definite terminology for "dropping" one or more of the 4 notes....calling it a space...or rest..or similar is helpful to understand the phrasing i feel...great lesson😁
