I got a 2 by 2 for Christmas last year, just to fiddle with as I tend to fiddle with things a lot. I never understood how to solve it. But I just felt like I was getting closer. Around a month later, I solved it and none of my parents believed me, nobody did. So I told them to randomly mix it into a random combination and I would solve it. They did and not 5 minutes later I did it. I don’t know how I did it but safe to say my parents were extremely impressed. Made me feel like a champ

YEs do it on the 3x3. You can keep the same corners method, just learn edges. And the exceptions, of course. :) Keep it up
@Pehz636 жыл бұрын
Is it really the same algorithm for a 3x3? I would think the 2x2 algorithm ignores any edge swapping that might occur since that wouldn’t mess it up, but with a 3x3 you need more complex algorithms to account for that.
@沈博智-x5y6 жыл бұрын
The same algorithm on the 3x3 would swap the same 2 corners and some 2 edges. As long as you don't rotate the cube and do the same things in 2x2 blindfolded, you are going to be swapping the 2 corners and the SAME 2 edges. The problem becomes when you swap the corners an ODD amount of times, this makes the 2 edges off by 1 cycle swap (this is when an extra algorithm [parity alg] is needed.) That is phase 1, after completing phase 1, the corners (then depending on how you want to look at it, you can use 1 more algorithm as well to swap the edges in place while swapping 2 corners in an endless same cycle.) in short, corners phase swaps 2 different corners and always maintain swapping the 2 same edges the edges phase swaps 2 different edges and always maintain swapping the 2 same corners. note: technically it is easier to learn 2 more algorithms (so a total of 3 for corners) and a total of 3 for edges as this makes the "set up moves" easier. e.g., with his letter "F" at 3:09 he can make it simpler by using no set up moves instead of "F2 D", but using the no set up moves puts it in a different corner position (which means setting up to 2 DIFFERENT corners positions are being swapped now, this leads to a different algorithm i.e. U L' U2 R U' R' U2 R L U' R instead of the algorithm he uses in the video. this is more evident in the edges as setup moves can be inefficient if only 1 alg is used. tl;dr it really is the same alg (for swapping corners phase 1)

@willusurf49006 жыл бұрын
And i guess its not even that harder. Yes, you need to memorize the edges too, but thats basically what adds to all of this. Of course, you not only need one algorithm but two, and have to count how many times your did that algorithm, while solving the edges, but it is a lot more fun as you said too. It is amazing what a human mind can achive(by making words from positions and creating sentences with those words to memorize the cube current position) is simpy amazing.

You should do a braille version where you don't even need to see the cube. Use hot glue or something to create some kind of code for each color (maybe something similar to an ordinary 6-sided die) and use only your logic to solve it. I think it would be a good exercise in retraining your brain from picking up on the color orientations of the cube to using only your sense of touch.
@okktok6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Harrington yes but this is not the same as solving the cube only seeing it one time at the beginning. Maybe it’s a easier version of the challenge
@thinkricegns5 жыл бұрын
That's extremely easy. Just learn to solve it normally and take like 5 to 10 mins and done.

What do you mean? Should i go to 3x3. I can solve 1x1 (lol) through 5x5 already
@aronmoehn20916 жыл бұрын
Oi Mike, i have been cubing for over 5 years now, and can solve a 3X3 (not blindfolded) in about 10 seconds. 3X3 blindfolded should be easy right? Wrong. The algorithms for the 2X2 blindfolded and the 3X3 blindfolded are quite different, however the technique is the same; just memorize the enire thing and youre good to go. The problem is that it was impossible for me to memorize all the different letters, and I started messing things up because you have 2 sets of letters (one for the corners and one for the edges) which are both A-W. All in all, the best of luck sir!
@lordwalterebenyzrbautista2046 жыл бұрын
Oh so true. I've been trying for just about 5 months now everyday when I have the time and so far all I've reached was solved edges and fucked up corners.

It’s easier to memorise algs if u split it up into triggers (R U’ R’) U’ (R U R’) F’(R U R’ U’) (R’ F R) Trigger random move triggered Fsexy beginning of sledgehammer That’s how I memorised it when learning 3BLD
@aaronmarquez55965 жыл бұрын
It's literally just the Y Perm without the original F... you could have memorized it that way
@cubation92542 жыл бұрын
TIP to learn the algorithm faster: Split the alg into 4 parts,ie: R U’ R’ U’ R U R’ F’ R U R’ U’ R’ F R If you have learned the T perm(the one you use for beginner CFOP to finish PLL)the last 3 lines are familiar,so you only need to learn the first line now. The last 3 lines are the start of J perm
@AlexSilva-ih5mr6 жыл бұрын
hey Mike , why don't you learn the memory techniques used by the memory athletes ? There's a plenty of challenges you could do using those techniques : memorize the order of a scrambled pack of 52 cards in less than 2 minutes(or 1min), memorize a long list of numbers like 1000 digits (or words) within an hour, learn how to win at the black jack using memory tricks... (it's possible). You can search for resources on Nelson Delis channel. There's also a book named "How to be clever" by Ben Pridmore (an English mental athlete).

If you want to solve it without a blind fold just do this make a L with the white and put the last piece underneath the space that doesnt have anything on the last layer on the right you can also have it there. Do this, RI DI R D. Keep doing that if you didn't get it if you did I can teach you how to get the top layer. Do this, RI DI R LI D L RI DI , now you shouls have the top layer if not do it again. Nest it to solve the yellow side. You may have 1 yellow 2 yellow or no yellow. If you have 1 yellow pit it in the bottom left corner if you have none dont worry do this same algorithm and if you have 2 put them on the right side. Do this, R U RI U R U×2. Keep doing that until you get it if you got it good see if you have some matching sides if you dont, dont worry youll have to do the algorithm twice. If you do have 2 sides that are the same put them together. Do this algorithm, RI F RI B×2 R FI R B×2 R×2 B×2. If it didnt solve do it again and there you go you should have a fully solved cube for a 2×2. If it sidnt solve at all sorry you might not know the algorithms. If you know all of them but didnt solve then you did something wrong. Just do the same steps again.
