Very informative video and answers a number of questions, which apply to other models. I have a Range Rover Autobiography And it has been solid and very fast with the supercharger, 46000 miles has been flawless, love it.

The lr4 motor is a down grade to the LR3 4.4. That isn’t an aftermarket ladder, and the little space below the tray in the console is refrigerated

Nice review, but I think you need to go to another level when reviewing older highly capable off road capable SUVs. These LR3s and 4s, are getting to a price point where off-roaders and over-landers will really start doing some fun things with their rigs. Keep up the good work and I hope your channel gets a chance to grow.

Have you got a Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol as back up? The crank is made of cheese, the electrics and air suspension pack up, EGR valve goes, turbo goes......it's not like a series Landrover or Defender, fix it with a hammer, this baby was brought to you by Tata, the same company that brought you the City Rover.

Best high-end SUV on the market today, the LR4/HSE. I'm on my second LR. I currently own the LR4 HSE/V8. Because of the weight of these vehicles (for safety reasons), the V8 is especially needed for quick power/highway passing speed. Because of its unique independent suspension, its steering-tight-turning radius, on a very-tight dime (as compared to other large-body SUVs), is amazing. One more mention: since LR's acquisition by Tata, the newly enhanced expertise behind this product's overall engineering, technology, and reliability is incomparable. A true, sleek, robust beauty, the LR4/HSE. Note: Do NOT purchase this product's overly-priced, overly mass-produced tacky/gaudy RR line. (I personally know RR owners who've had to 'duct-tape' their vehicles' doors to ensure security/safety until the next repair.)

Great video I have 2016 landmark which sits between Hse and hse lux, there are some cosmetic changes from 2014 onwards , update front grill and fog lights and main lights with Drl and rear lights example, also car security Alarm been beefed up, only diesel twin turbos only available in Uk, the gear knob arrangement is the 7 speed zf Jaguar style, euro 6 emission spec, 20” alloys , if you get a chance to do a review in the later one it’s better still , recently the prices point for 2015/6 used have shit up over £3000 and now selling around £34000 in low mileage example in the Uk . Gen z: cigarette lighters? Jokes aside, I'm retired mil and really have always wanted one of these since I laid eyes on the early models when overseas. I hear so many mixed reviews on these. So many different prices. Not close at all to making a decision but I test drive two today. Still what to find more about the year 2013 with the v8. Next video! Feel free go offer any more advice! Nice video

Thank you for the detailed comments regarding the LR4. I am considering a 2012 vehicle much like this one with relatively low miles. However, the vehicle is through a dealer. I currently own a 2000 Dodge Durango 4.7 4X4with 267,000 miles and do most the maintenance and repairs myself. I'd like an upgrade as the 2000 is seeing an end to new parts availability. I know you mentioned a few things to review during looking at a used vehicle . Would you mind going into a little bit more detail as to what I should I be careful of looking at the 2012 LandRover LR4? Best regards, Lee

They are ticking time bombs. All LR4s before 2015 have a severe timing chain issue that goes at around 120k miles and typically costs about $8k to fix
@waterbreakers2343 Жыл бұрын
@@jacobbrozenick8366 thank you, Jacob, for your input. I have heard a similar from a Jaguar master mechanic. I remain hesitant to jump into an LR4 but they are so tempting. I do not have pockets of money so I guess I would be better off waiting for the right price on 2016. Best regards

Sure love my 2010 Land rover LR4 HSE It the identical color of this one your talking about. I get people all the time saying wow that is so nice or I love the color and looks of it. It's got 129,800 miles on it I bought it at 109,748 miles on it in July 2019. It's just now having the suspension sagging issue so searched KZbin for answers and suggestions on what to do. The temporary fix that I used was to raise it up to the highest point it would go and then pulled the SUSPENSION SYSTEM FUSE under the hood where the battery is under a cover and the fuse box is under a smaller cover. It hasn't sagged a bit for the last 2 weeks since I did this. Sits high and I love the way it rides,handles and steers. I'm guessing the airbags aren't leaking or I feel this trick wouldn't be working and it would still be sagging. So not really sure what caused the leaks but I can't see putting alot of money into the air suspension when I can buy the Atlantic/British heavy haul coil spring conversion kit with the flash module tool and have it switched out. At that point I wpuld like to use a lift kit to raise it a couple inches more and put some good looking Wheels and bigger tires on it to give it a bit more offroad and rugged look. I don't off road at all it's just my daily driver. I cant see getting rid of it I love driving it too much.

0:37..??? but they didn't improve the Engine..the 5.0 V8 was not an improvement over the 4.4 V8 ..ask any Land Rover Specialist Mechanic and the will pick the 4.4 over the 5.0 every time. 0:46...more high end premium appearance ? No... they made it into more of a Car than a Truck which it was before and reduced the strong back bumper into a small stub of a bumper..
@romantkachuk1684 жыл бұрын
Well, if 375hp vs 300hp is not an improvement, then what is? 5.0 is a great reliable powerful engine, I'd take it over 4.4 any day
@merseybeat19634 жыл бұрын
@@romantkachuk168 The 2010-2012 5.0 that replaced the 4.4 was not an improvement..look it up..at between 60-100k these engines require a major rebuild or replacement. There should have been a RECALL and made right for owners of these. Look it up.

Nice review! So now that you’ve shown us all the nice features, what about long term reliability? There are sooo many owner comments saying not to touch these things out of warranty and to not get trapped into keep trying to repair them as you’ll go broke. What are your thoughts? It’s too bad because they’re really nice looking trucks with nice interiors and lots of cargo space...
@DrivenCompanion4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't personally buy one unless you're prepared for expensive repairs.
@brianthesignguy4 жыл бұрын
We had an LR3 and it was extremely reliable. Never used our warranty. We did replace the air suspension which is pricey. We now own this exact LR4 (no warranty) in white trim. Once again no issues. Coming from 2 previous Audi’s this is a welcome change. Although the LR4’s look almost identical... like the reviewer stated, most reliability issues have been corrected from LR3’s. I’d suggest this vehicle to anyone. The style, off road capabilities are hard to beat at this price point. Once you get a heated steering wheel it’s hard to go back.

My 2012 LR4 is extremely reliable over her entire life. The Jaguar (Ford) 5.0 works well for Ford and LR. Keep up on maintenance and you're fine. I know people with over 250k miles on original motor. Don't confuse it with the BMW 4.4

As with the purchase of any high-end, high-tech, life-dependent product, always factor in during financing the extended service warranty / stress-free insurance (e.g., iPhone, Mac, SmartTV, A/C, kitchen appliances, car, home repairs, etc.).

What's the ticking sound?
@merseybeat19634 жыл бұрын
No one has answered this ? If the car is on and this car is near or over 60,000 miles the ticking sound is likely to be the loosening timing chain ..these 2010-12 5.0 engines require a major rebuild or replacement between 60,000-100,000 miles
@MaximumDIYGarage3 жыл бұрын
This is a GDI engine, gasoline direct injection, and they all sound like this because of the high pressure fuel pump on top of the engine. Even the new Honda CR-V does it.

Go with Toyota if your looking for reliability. Go with the LR4 if you want the prestige that comes with owning a Land Rover. Its designed for Royalty, but comes with a price. I just made an offer to buy a 2012 LR4 HSE. The Trucks body is in mint condition, but the Engine has a bent connecting rod. The Engine needs replaced. These Trucks are literally given away, because people are afraid to buy them. I'm a Master Automotive Technician by trade and will more than likely purchase the LR 4 HSE. I've been contemplating the purchase for about two years. Leasing is a good option if you just have to have one.
