I had a tuned 2012 Ram 3500 crew cab long bed and it was a lariat with a manual. Got 20 mpg on the highway. It had a second gen swap with s465 and some other goodies. Pulled so hard. I could accelerate up a steep grade pulling a 6x12 dump trailer packed with dirt and stayed in 6th gear. Couldn't stop that thing. Had to upgrade the clutch to a south bend right away, but it was bulletproof. Seriously. Not a single issue and 140k on the ticker.

extending the life of your transmission will require additional cooling. Don't be afraid of adding a larger than stock, high-density stacked fin external oil cooler AND an increased capacity finned aluminum oil pan. It will be worth every penny.

We have the same tuner, DPF delete, 5" exhaust with a turbo muffler. Other than that the 08 is stock. Been the wife's daily driver for 6 years now. Shop that installed the mods recommended we set the tuner on 3 for daily use and 2 for towing heavy loads. I'd try it, we get around 25 highway mpg at 60 mph, a little less at interstate speeds. Hell yeah Mike! glad to see you are still building this and see it continuously evolve. one thing to consider is have spare tires and wheels. We do desert racing all through NV, AZ eastern CA and mexico, all our chase trucks carry 1 to 2 spare tires with wheels for the race car and two spares for the chase rig. In our world if the truck is down do to a flat its a quick change and we are moving again......two flats? most people are screwed. and yes some flats can be plugged but some cant.... keep up the momentum and hope to see you on the other side!

Hey, wanted to let you know that its ok to just do something because its cool and you like the aesthetics. Not everything has to be ‘advantageous’, and ‘efficient’. If you want to lift your truck 12 inches, Rhino-line it, and throw some 37’s with fancy gold aluminum rims on there - with that uber necessary utilitarian bead lock bezel - then you go ahead and do that. Oh, and I’m glad you got rid of that soft topper and upgraded to the AT Summit. Nothing says uncool like a soft topper. Great vid. Thanks mate.

Always when Isee a "Bug Out Truck" I think three things: 1.) It must been fun to build it. 2.) It will get stuck in traffic probaly. 4.) It's to complicated / hasn't a suitable Engine etc. which only will lead to issues. Everything which need a Laptop to resett stuff is only suitable if you are really into the electronics and have alot in reserve. ^^

Awesome looking truck. Serious question: I dont know much about vehicles, but isn’t the lift kind of useless when there are the steering components exposed and lower to the ground under the front end of the truck? Would a skid plate protect all that, or is the issue I’m raising not a concern? Genuinely curious as I’m interested in doing a truck like this some day.

where did you put the spare wheel? I imagine with a spare 37" tire its quite hard to find space on the truck!
@GentiluomoStraniero4 жыл бұрын
If one has a spare tire carrier like the 87-96 bronco, one can carry a large spare tire above the rear bumper. The only caveat is that the tailgate will need a latch to secure it. Reinforcing the anchor points for the hinges is also a good idea. Then, you can make even more room for fuel and increase the range even more.

Awesome rig. You probably know this by now but IF you did want to dress that coating up from time to time, all you need to do is tire shine the whole damn thing.
