Hey man, I’m a local. Santos is a cool city. If you stay at the beach and tourist areas, you’ll be alright. But it’s always a good idea to watch your stuff, no matter where you are. São Vicente is a bit rougher than Santos, but I still like it there. I lived there for most of my life, and there are some really beautiful spots. I actually live in Praia Grande now. I feel pretty safe here, but you still have to be careful when you’re out and about, just in case. The best beaches are in Guarujá. You have to check out São Pedro Beach and Iporanga Beach. You’ll love them. Brazil has a lot of poverty and social problems because of our terrible politicians and government. But the people are great. Stay safe and take care of your belongings. Try not to go alone inside the city in unfamiliar areas. The southern states/cities of Brazil are pretty safe, like Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Gramado, Balneário Camboriú, etc. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and the northern states have some unsafe areas.

Hello Mike, hope you got your phone back. Me personally I avoid eating corn as unfortunately corn in the majority of the Americas isn't natural anymore but transgenic (grown from cuttings in the lab that have had bacterial genes inserted), not as good as the varieties you find elsewhere.
@danjovis5 ай бұрын
You are doubly wrong. the corn originally only existed in the Americas it was brought to Europe and eventually spread to other parts of the world. None of the corn we have today is completely natural because all types are improved versions that come from the work of the Incas, Mayas, and other indigenous peoples of the Americas. They started with a wild plant called teosinte and, over thousands of years, selected and cultivated it to create the corn we know today. This process of selecting the best plants for desirable traits is called domestication. So, the corn we eat now is the result of this long history of human intervention and breeding.
@rendezyt5 ай бұрын
@@danjovis No you are wrong, I mentioned transgenic not selective breeding. Transgenic is GMO meaning they take the corn plant cells and inject them with bacterial genes on plasmids that make the plant manufacture a bacterial pesticide. I am sure you have heard of Bt Corn. They then take those cells and grow them in a petri dish of hormones until they make plantlets that they take cuttings from. Don't tell me I'm wrong when you are confusing terms. Transgenic crops are lab made not from crossing traits in nature. Also these GMO crops ruin wildlife and have been associated with leaky gut syndrome. I wasn't talking about the history of corn I am talking about now today. The corn that grows in Europe and Africa is better as it not contaminated with GMO genes that are spread through wind pollination.
@hanwest55284 ай бұрын
Almost every vegetable and fruit has been gmo'd. Look up vegetable or fruit hundreds of years ago and compare it to today. We breed fruits to have What we like about them the most (taste, color, smell, etc.)
@rendezyt4 ай бұрын
@@hanwest5528 No they have not, transgenic GMO crops have been altered in the laboratory; they have not acquired their traits naturally, you are speaking nonsense. What you are describing is selective breeding, that's not the same thing as GMO. Go search online and download a pdf file and see how GMOs are made in the laboratory with bacterial plasmids and antibiotic markers by biotech companies and tell me that occurs in nature, it doesn't. GMO cotton was tried in Burkino Faso in Africa and it failed because the gene insertion caused the the fibres to be shorter and of the product was of worse quality when compared with their natural one, which was way better. I know corn is not from Europe historically speaking but the corn that grows in Europe is now of better quality than the lab-created versions in North and South America that are distributed to farmers there. Farmers in North and South America have to buy their seeds from biotech companies now. Only exception is Peru (from what I know) which don't want companies controlling their agriculture.
