The phone call thing is so different at every basic training installation. I was big mad when I found out my cousin got more phone calls than me lol. I was the first AIT cycle to have drill sergeants and... it wasn't as bad but some of my battles that were in training elsewhere had it a whole lot worse. Wasn't as strict as I thought it would be.

I’ve been married to my battle boo for 2 years now :) we met in AIT and dated the entire time, and our NCOs knew about it but could never catch us doing anything. I moved to his state and everything. We are living a very happy life! You just have to be smart and don’t get caught. 😂

I went to Basic in Fort Leonardwood 😭❄️ & AIT in Fort Jackson 😍. AIT was not a bad experience for me and my battles at all. I had my phone on me from the moment I got there to the moment we graduated. A lot has changed, but it’s all just depending on where you go for training and who your NCO’s are.

Ayannah Earell I did BCT at Jackson and AIT at FLW. We didn't get to have phones, we had to use them pay phones at FLW and buy them expensive ass calling cards. Shoot I watched the barracks get tossed because guys brought back snuff and cigarettes from weekend passes in AIT. But we had a blast in AIT, basic was fun too. Me and five other guys became close in reception and actually ended up in the same platoon down range. We got smoked for the fun of it because we called our group T Squad. So of course when one got smoked the others did. But we helped get each other through.

I think it’s easy to say don’t do if you not in the situation. If you get caught you probably won’t get into too much trouble as long as it’s another trainee. You mess around with a drill sergeant or any type of NCO is over. All AITs are different. I had my phone everyday at AIT which was 10 weeks but I couldn’t take it to class. I never did cause it’s not worth it. Y’all see SGT Baker, she seams squared away but you not going to find a lot of NCOs at your units.

Makayla Robinson You can write letters and mail them home or elsewhere at basic. You can not mail out packages. If someone sends you a letter, it's okay, but if someone sends you a package, then the drill sgts will make you open that package in front of them to see what's inside. If someone sent you something like cough drops, they must be *sugar free* cough drops because if they're not then the drill sergeants will throw them out. Yes, that's how basic training is. My drill sergeants in my platoon would actually make us do pushups when they called our names out who received mail. Ridiculous, but that's basic training. It doesn't last forever. If you join the Army, your basic training will be the next longest after the Marines. But if you join the Air Force, your basic training will be the shortest, so you will have the least amount of time to deal with this craziness.

#MayaGang ! I don't think it's too likely. Fraternization does happen but it's not that common in basic training and AIT. I have heard of an extreme case regarding a guy in my sleeping bay getting caught in the act of poking a chick (who happened to be from another company) in the sauna at church during the final week of basic. And I've seen one girl (who was married) kissing a dude at basic, but cases like that aren't too common. You're not going to want to risk getting severely punished if caught fraternizing in basic and AIT.

The Greatest There have been married couples who have stayed together while the army husband was in for 20 years on active duty. But those cases are probably pretty rare. Odds are, it would be very hard to maintain the relationship if on Active Duty in the military. Especially with Army or Marines since those infantry branches have the most frequent and longest deployments (army deployments are 9 months to a year on average) and even during times where you have to be out in the field (like two weeks or so at a time). It might be easier to maintain a relationship in the air force on active duty than it would be for the army, since the air force very rarely if ever goes out to the field and air force deployments, if they happen at all, are like six months at the most.

When I was at Leonardwood my battles from basic who were 88M got their first off base pass the week they graduated and that was in the early 00's, so it's not just being in a bad class, that's just how they do y'all.... AIT. . . I got a lot of good memories of those times, but the rules were a lot different back then. The rules now at least for ft Sam when I was stationed there a couple yrs ago suck, they can’t have tobacco (which sucks for the smokers and dip users) no alcohol (which I’m sure they still sneak it in Gatorade 😂😂) and I think they took away the weekend over night passes smh.

I used to be Drill Sergeant there 05-07, yes there were DSs there. It was out of control so there overnight were adjusted. Sexual assauts, drug use and violence. Just a bad crop that were recruited in because of the surge in Iraq.

nevwr an issue in Marine corps Boot camp. because it's about training not about dating... I did 13 weeks in Marine corps boot camp we didn't get days off we didn't go out we trained... we didn't see women or interact with any women we studied and we did puahups we ran five miles we humped with packs miles afyer mile after mile up Mountains at S.O.I. we shot rifles we threw grenades we drilled we worked hard. there was no temptations for that because we were properly trained we weren't put through situations where we could mess up our military career before it even gets started.. I Love all branches of the U.S. Military but I do see flaws in the Armys integration of males and females in basic training.. the temptations are too prevalent it's better to get started onnthe right foot The left foot! the good foot! and after graduation then it's go get your girl or whatever.... meantime if ur focused on drill and throwing grenades and doing push-ups then girlfriends won't matter that's an issue because it should be not a thing at all....
