okay I have noticed a lot of posts asking why this is called milk teeth and what are milk teeth. The term milk teeth is a term for the first set of teeth a human gets also known as baby teeth. In the verse saying when milk teeth grew no more this line refers to the end of all human births. no babies being born = no more milk teeth grow.

I've had a lot of time to ponder this story, and here is my interpretation. The whole thing is a horrible nightmare Claire is having, stemming from her anxiety about becoming a mother. In her dream, the world is ending, which represents how when somebody becomes a parent, their life as they know it is over, and their whole world changes drastically. (It could also represent how the world is in a huge mess, and it's a hell of a time to raise children when it's so uncertain the world as we know it will still be there when they grow up.) She doesn't know whether she is carrying a human or a monster, which is emblematic of her uncertainty of the kind of person her child will turn out to be. She has lost her husband; a manifestation of her anxiety about being a first time mother - she has never raised a child before, and she feels alone, because her husband doesn't know how to be a father, either. In this dream world, women are giving birth to monsters, because in the real world, many children grow up to be monsters. But some women are giving birth to normal human babies, and that represents her hope that in spite of all her fears and anxieties, and the frightening uncertainty in an unsafe world, everything will be all right. And finally, we don't know whether she gave birth to a human or a monster in the end, because she is still pregnant, and hasn't met her child yet, and because that is when she wakes up. The way I see it, this is sort of a feminine counterpart to the David Lynch film 'Eraserhead,' which is symbolic of a man's apprehension about fatherhood.

The really creepy part for me is the hospital scene, cause it took me a good minute to realize the mother of the “child” was mentally infirm, and that the likely reason she was pregnant was because she was abused by one of the doctors, who presumably used the absence of pregnancies as an opportunity to avoid retribution. The fear of the doctors seems to be partially a fear that one of them is a monster, different from the children, but monstrous all the same

Hello. Do you guys know any books in the similar vibe to creepypasta? Preferably with the atmosphere but now the gore. 'Trying to fetch some gifts, and the person in question is a big fan of the Paranormal Activity films, so I was hoping you guys could recommend something. Think stuff where the scares come from what you don't see, rather than what you do.

Mayeur000Donz I used to have one of The Mammoth Books of Horror. I believe it was this one encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSNXOiDCinDLYA9bISUJemM0jVFgMY0bVzNdWBphKvUiutdHjT_ (If you're wary of clicking a link from a stranger on youtube, it's "The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror by Stephen Jones". Note that "New" was about in 2003.) I had read it a while back, but the stories were my gateway into Creepy Pastas, having the same vibe. It's a series of short stories, though. It's also quite big, if I remember correctly. An actual Creepy Pasta-esque novel...well, the closest I can think is "What the Night Knows" by Dean Koontz. It's a detective story, with many effed-up and paranormal factors. Hope that helps =)

Ambiguous endings are difficult. The trick is to give enough information for the viewer/listener/reader to come to his/her own conclusions, but withhold everything else. This story, unfortunately, was unable to do that - it withholds *everything* - and the ending makes no sense. "It was exactly what she had expected"? What on earth does that mean? What *was* she expecting?
@Naivuren10 жыл бұрын
She was expecting it to be a monster, one of them. But her husband still had hope that it would be a normal baby, a human, from the stories they heard. So she didnt kill herself 'till it was born and she was sure.

@CornOfTheBreads10 жыл бұрын
I thought the poem part was rather clever in its symbolism especially the line about from seed to spore. but a rather simple story the sound affects make it less vague. I feel like based off the words alone, the ending would have been more open to interoperation, weather she was expecting a normal child or a mutated one.
@sgauden029 жыл бұрын
Corn Bread I think the original story left it ambiguous what her child was.
@YourWeirdAunt9 жыл бұрын
Corn Bread Well when you consider that the first birth she witnessed resulted in the immediate death of the mother, and that our narrator seems to have survived child birth and had the presence of mind to be prepared to defend herself from and or kill a mutant baby, I think it's entirely possible that her baby was born human.
@sgauden029 жыл бұрын
minjofu Here's something else. There's even the posibility that the events of the story aren't even really happening. It may only be a nightmare Claire is having because she's pregnant, and her nightmare is a manifestation of her fears of having a child and being a mother. Ever see the movie "Eraserhead"? It had a similar theme.
@CornOfTheBreads9 жыл бұрын
No the movie has been on my meaning to watch list for some time, but it is an interesting theory, I personally dislike jumping to the dream idea, because a lot of people do just that to just explain away things that dont fit into their realm of thought so any and all fantasy is just a fervor dream.
@sgauden029 жыл бұрын
Corn Bread I know I know, the dream idea is something of a cliche, but it fits pretty well here. The story did have a dream-like feeling to it, and there were a few things in the story that definately felt like they belonged in a dream. Like when the first monster was born, how did it kill everyone in the room even though it was only a infant, and isn't it a conicidence that ONLY Claire survived that? And why did giving birth to a monster kill that woman in the hosptial (and probably others to), but Claire survived while possibly giving birth to one in a abandoned bus with no help or equipment? Again, the dream theory is a bit of a cliche, but I think it fits well here.

Why would Clare owe it to Carlos to have the baby if the baby turned out to be whatever exactly she feared it would be? If she was anticipating that all along, then why didn't she just kill herself before more monsters could be brought into the world? And what exactly WERE the monsters? For half the story, I thought you were hinting at zombies, then insects. Also, why is this story titled "Milk Teeth"? I don't understand any of this. :(

johnathan sparrow There was a creature watching her giving birth outside. It went around the bus. It was the reason she went into the bus in the first place.
@brucenatelee10 жыл бұрын
johnathan sparrow Likely not. Lets say she was a nurse at 18 and as the story says, it was 15 years later when she was giving birth. She would be 33. They said that it was years without children. If this is true, then the "tall dark figure" would have been 14 years old, likely too young to be "tall." If the woman was having her child when she was 35-40, it would be late in her bio-child making abilities, but then it would make sense, but there is a huge lack of information. Also, the husband was killed. It's not vampires. Seems like an "I am Legend" based story, but I'm just speculating. I just highly doubt it is the same child she saw give birth.
