Still running a Gen 1 from 2015 and its used daily on a building site. Its in a dreadful state but still working.

That's awesome. My old M18 impact was given to my father when I bought the M12. That thing is the non-fuel and still running strong.

My M12 Impact turns ALOT of nylon nuts for a year before it died. Milwaukee warranty repaired the tool and sent it back to me. My M18 Impacts haven't died at all. My Dewalt impacts died after 2 years. It's a toss up for longevity for me

My boss uses strictly dewalt so I end up using a lot of dewalt. Can’t say I’ve ever had problems but they eat batteries like crazy. I’ve never been a dewalt guy and I have a lot of red and black all tool brands, so I’ll never be a dewalt guy. But I’ve never broken a Milwaukee either. 🤷‍♂️

Well worth it. I had my last set last me just about 9 years with daily use. You get what you pay for.

Agreed. My previous version, non-Fuel, was just given to my father as I only upgraded to review the newer version.

Bought the M12 fuel set with the return battery for a total of $160 after, and the M18 set for $260 and don’t know which to keep. Only DIY and household applications. Thought I could future proof with M18 since I have no drills or batteries from anything but I might just keep the M12

I love the size of m12. If you are not going to get any routers or circ saws... the m18 isn't needed... but I also own 2x M12s and 1x M18 so there's that lol

In thinking of getting this with the gen 4 combi , are the combi drills durable ?
@mfcbuilds
@mfcbuilds 8 ай бұрын
I am currently testing the gen 4 drill. I will say I have a 2018, non fuel, milwaukee drill that is still running strong. I bought the newer model purely for testing.

I use it to drive in 2-in bolts in concrete and this is the only tool that does it quick enough (although sometimes it literally over drives it and chips concrete)

Ever tried one of their impact wrenches? Not suggesting, just curious, have you tried the M12 Fuel 3/8" stubby? I've heard a ton of mechanics swear by them.

@@mfcbuilds I haven't, I do have all different kinds of M18 impact drivers and this one never gets stuck, I don't even have any overheating issues and we typically drive in 500 bolts each day
@mfcbuilds
@mfcbuilds 8 ай бұрын
@yankybraver9403 The battery is what overheated for me during testing. I've nvr had one overheat while working, only testing. BUT that lag bolt test is essentially running the tool for about 5 minutes straight.

Any tool used to it’s limit will die sooner, my tools work really hard but I don’t push the limits with them just because it can do a big bolt doesn’t mean it’s a good idea I have Milwaukee Dewalt and Makita stuff for various reasons and they are all good tools obviously some better than others in some situations and jobs that is the reason I have more than one brand.
@mfcbuilds

Completely agree. Have multiple drivers for the same reason. For these large bolt an impact wrench is the way to go

Hey man, if you get to see this comment I just want to know what you think about the current Home Depot deal on the dewalt set. Impact driver and drill and two batteries with a charger and a case for $299.99 and a free selection of a tool that can be as much as $219.99 meaning if the return works you can get a Dewalt impact and drill for $80. Kind of ridiculous. Also they have a set of batteries for 199 that if you could return the free gift would make them free.
@mfcbuilds
@mfcbuilds 22 күн бұрын
Not exactly how it works. So I found the promo you're referring to. Here's the breakdown. 20V Drill & Impact is on sale for $299 (orig. $329.99) including a FREE tool, like the $219 Jigsaw. The cost of the "free tool" is discounted from each item. Meaning the 20V Drill & Impact combo cost $172.59 and the Jigsaw cost $126.41 Return the "free tool" and you get the combo kit for the $172.59 + tax. It's a great price. Hope this helps.

They are fast and strong but they are not the most reliable. That has been my experience around them, but some folks run them for ever . M12 fuel line has served me great though.

The M18 fails a bit too often. The previous model is more reliable. TTC had 5 fail while using them for various videos. Milwaukee will warranty them, but they've got a higher failure rate than they should. I'm a Milwaukee tool owner, btw.

If you are an electrician or joiner and have to drill hole with augers then this is not for you. 2 month amd it just runs for a second and cuts out. The older impacts are much better amd the surge, just stay away. The surge will fail in a year.
