Yup, and he breaks social norms on purpose - JUST for people like you. Did you know he recently interviewed an ACTUAL pedophile for 2+ hours? His whole arc is to 'break the current internet' and grow empathy between all spectrums of people. Frankly, I wholeheartedly agree with his mission. Just by the look of this comment section - it's upsetting how much of a padded psych ward 95% of the people in here need. Just santimonious, judgey, moral supremacist schlock. Soooo many socially weak & feeble minds. Zero adult critical thinking... but Dunning-Kreuger they think the opposite. So many in here need to touch some grass and grow wayyyy up. These are adult conversations. *Hunter did a fantastic job on counterpoint and volleying* I said so on this same interview posted on Mrgirl's channel. But the difference in comment sections is STAGGERING. It's really too bad. Serious adult analysis over on Mrgirl's comments... bellyaching and virtue signaling and purity testing here.

Anyway - your comment on "instantly replying" is exactly one of the analyses he does - 'performative rage' ... you're a textbook case on how everybody has been socially trained to act, to quickly signal virtue. @FelisImpurrator2 жыл бұрын
@@WhichDoctor1 It's actually because most people have emotional knee-jerks toward the idea of things they consider morally wrong, because they don't have reasoned ethical systems outside *of* intuitive feelings. So they feel that just having the conversation is itself bad because the very concept is intuitively "wrong" or "tainted", and they think that if you have to ask questions to arrive at ethical positions instead of "just knowing" what's "naturally" (read: Based on their feelings, which are themselves biased by societal conditioning) right or wrong, it's a sign of being less than 100% against the "evil thing" and therefore harboring some sympathies for said "evil thing". It's nothing more than reactionary thinking and the politics of thoughtcrime.
@funanimation82532 жыл бұрын
@@FelisImpurrator What about the people that were actually effected by this though? Not everyone is a reactionary knee jerker as you claim to say. Like I understand that we need to have more conversations like this as just closing it yo and not talking about it at all will not solve anything however whether the response is good or bad to this at least its somewhat of a start. Now the problem and issue I have with this situation is that I've been seeing alot of pedophiles lately saying that therapy is "conversion therapy", which if you ask me is a ridiculous response from some pedophiles. Now I'm not against pedophiles getting help. They should get the help that they need to reduce the urges but I just find the whole situation so funny now because I'm seeing quite few to some pedophiles saying that therapy is conversion therapy whenever there's a chance of just someone saying that therapy when pedophilia is involved especially when Hunter says it I'm starting to feel like there some pedophiles who deceptively use the term "conversion therapy" and swap out such term for therapy as a buzzword for something extremely bad which honestly I find that ridiculous when years ago pedophiles werw litteraly begging to seek out help and now some ate claiming for it to be conversion therapy. Not all but some. Also there was guy who was a map who came on to Hunters stream about pedophilia being a sexaul orientation or whatever have you thinking as well that therapy, regular therapy is also conversion therapy. I think when it comes to pedophiles in general we have to be careful what it is exactly that we are trying to do here because it can cause irreversible harm and damage to children and we as society don't want to push the message that being a Pedophile is more OK or that's its good. It's very weird how Mrgirl and so many other pedophiles assume that we sayinbg we are shaming them when that's not case at all. In fact we are saying the we just want certain level of stigmatation to be removed that is just the case. It's kind of liketellinf a fat person that they are un healthy and that fat people shouldn't push the idea of fat acceptance but we aren't bullying them or sing them we are just telling them that the condition they are living in is simply just not healthy at all. The same can be said about pedophilia. Mrgirl is a recklus irresponsible delusional fool. Who thinks he can just live by the road with risk not have to suffer any consequences that come with it. He is extremely delusional by the way speaks and completely backwards with his way of thinking its laughable. I just hope we know exactly what we're doing when dealing with such sensitive topics like this because it can set us in the wrong path in society. Yeah sorry for the long comments.

I think really what this boils down to is we really need to stop sexualising underage girls. What leads to things like pedophilia being normalised is the way youth is fetishised. The fact that child brides are still a thing in this day and age or child beauty pageants. That's the kind of thing that needs to stop. Cuties should never have been made. Mr. Girl doesn't just want to destigmatise pedophiles getting help. He wants pedophilia to be accepted as as a sexuality. Which it isn't. He's comparing his Cuties review to a straight guy saying Captain America's ass is hot. That's not the same thing at all. Chris Evans is an adult. Children cannot give consent, that's why we have age of consent laws. There is a very, very good reason why people have such extreme reactions to pedophilia and child abuse and as much as he says there's a "witch hunt", honestly more could be done to protect children. Lots of very powerful and wealthy people abuse children everyday through sex trafficking and grooming. The Catholic Church STILL abuses children to this day and has power despite being exposed IN THE 90'S. Yes, there are more nuanced discussions to be had and of course not everyone with an attraction to children is an abuser. So of course I'm all for encourage those with that affliction to seek help without judgement. But what Mr. Girl is advocating for is complete acceptance of everyone's "preferences" and equating pedophillic individuals to those in the LGBTQ community which is just plain false equivalency.

Yeah, but what you are describing is essentially Conversion Therapy. It doesn't work. Can you turn a gay man straight, through therapy? Sexual proclivity is a DEEP DEEP unknown embedded into the psyche. It's been proven time & time again, that by the time you are an adult - your particular sexual firmware is pretty much fixated for the rest of your life. Not much is going to change. It's never been successful. All your likes, kinks, preferences, etc. Pretty fundamental stuff. *So yes - the point is to be settled on the desires you have - because it's a mental health hellscape if you think you're going to change it, and it just won't* So why make having the curse of an IRL-illegal sexuality even worse? The goal is making peace with, and knowing that you have that firmware - not that your thoughts are bad and you need mental health intervention - like some mental patient. Pedophiles are otherwise completely normal and functional and succesful people, psychologically. It is INDEED OK to have ANY thought. Sawing somebody in half with a chainsaw. Fucking your best friend's wife. And yes, sex with young people. Animals. Whatever. They are thoughts. Nobody has a right to your mind. If all that shit stays there - it harms nobody. ACTIONS harm. So we get to the crux of the situation - NON OFFENDING. Making that deal with yourself, for society, and for yourself - it takes acceptance and peace with living with the firmware you are "cursed" with. That it's not a curse, and you aren't a mental patient. It's not going to change, and otherwise you can live a very normal and productive life. BUT YOU WON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF SEX LIFE. That is the deal. They can learn to develop adult relationships (and most pedos do, because barely any are exclusively pedophilic) - and have a sex life that way. So it CAN solve itself into a benign, nothingburger situation. Thus there is nothing to despise, hate, attack, or harm the pedophilic person for. Right? Unless we're literally going to get into thought crime. And if that's the case, ALL of society is going to be in a very very bad place by that point. Because anywhere humans tried that, countries went down in blood & war, as pure dystopic hellholes.

@@abandoned-mines-novascotia Attraction to children isn't a sexuality. There's also not evidence it's just how some people are born and even if there was evidence, some things are just dangerous left unchecked. You're not helping your cause, you're hurting someone else's. Conversion therapy is about forcing people who are of no danger to anyone to change who they are. Treating someone who is attracted to children, protects the children from people who might harm them. It's not about changing anyone's sexuality. Treatment, when someone could be harmed, reduces harm. And most importantly, shouldn't everyone want the children to be safe? If you care about the kids, help protect them from you by seeking help.
@abandoned-mines-novascotia2 жыл бұрын
@@aweirdwombat The attraction to children is indeed a sexual proclivity. We can haggle all day over the words - sexuality, orientation, etc. It doesn't really matter. It BEHAVES like a steadfast attraction that cannot be successfully wiped away forever, via therapy. I compared it to Conversion Therapy, because that is essentially what the claim is, for people seeking therapy as a 'solution' for pedophiles. Aversion Therapy, or whatever you want to call it... it's all the same result. It's a complete failure. The vast vast vast amount of the time, there is no "success stories". It's almost as ridiculous as therapy trying to switch or change YOUR sexual proclivities. Deep down, there is just a very poor success rate in completely (or barely) erasing or replacing the firmware. It would be a great theory if it worked. Unfortunately, the sexual part of the brain rarely works that way, and you end up STILL having those desires - and they turn you on always - regardless of whatever they may be. "shouldn't everyone want the children to be safe?" Absolutely. And a non-offending pedophile IS "safe". It's best they are fully in touch and accepting of their proclivity, so that they can manage and maintain a deal with society and themselves - NON-OFFENSE. Just like an alcoholic accepts their proclivity, can openly talk about it if they need to, for support. They proactively stay away from situations of alcohol - and depending on their self-known "weakness to slip" - they behave accordingly. A whole spectrum from not drinking, to literally not going within a mile of alcoholic situations. Same goes for pedophiles who maintain a healthy life from their attractions. That is where we need to be on this issue.
@09BiGDylan2 жыл бұрын
@@aweirdwombat given that logic, we should just lock up all people who've been sexually molested as children. Even though the majority of them will never touch children, I think its pretty much accepted that most people who touch children were also sexually abused as children. Conversion therapy doesn't work. I think it's okay to acknowledge you have those thoughts and as long you're at no risk of offending, I think its fine to talk about those feelings. We all understand (in modern western society) for the most part that molesting kids is bad - so much so people are in fear of their life for even having these conversations about their thoughts. Mr. Girl almost got canceled like a dozen times for having these discussions even though its clear he beleives molesting children is wrong and he would never do it. I don't think we should be to afraid to explore ideas and it doesnt help anyone to pretend those thoughts don't exist.

@@abandoned-mines-novascotia As someone diagnosed w/ psychopathic behaviors, I feel like normalizing them would be a terrible idea. Yes, I think telling someone their feelings don't make them bad is a good thing, and I do believe most non offending pedophiles are safe, nice people just the same way most folk struggling with aspd or psychopathy are. That said, you can be fully in touch and accepting of your innate features while still attending therapy to manage them. Unlike homosexuality, stuff like pedophilia and psychopathy are dangerous in Any form of practice, for obvious reasons, and thus there has to be some level of stigma against the actions that leads people with these issues to therapy. Demonizing pedophiles and others who can't control the cards dealt in their lives is cruel and gross to me. We're all normal people, and I don't like viewing non offending pedophiles as any different from anyone else morally. However, there HAVE to be preventative efforts against possibilities of offense. Pedophiles do need to seek help, but they need to be welcomed by therapists and seen as perfectly fine people by their families. Same as the rest of us with issues that could harm others. That small level of stigma and concern helps US and THEM, too. Suggesting these thoughts are okay or normal leads to action. Suggesting these thoughts are bad and dangerous but don't make the person having them bad helps everyone involved.

Yeah, I think that's the thing MrGirl keeps forgetting to voice. He has so thoroughly internalized the gap between thought and action and knows what connects them, that he forgets to remind others that he knows there is still a way that thought influences action and vice versa. What I think people need to emphasize is not so much the gap, as the way that gap is created: *critical* engagement with the content of thoughts and media.

Compare that to everyone else who pretty much dismissed it the second they heard about it from their fav youtuber because being somewhat charitable to something that feels ped0philic is just too much disgust/virtue signal for most people to chew through (including me, I was like a MrGirl anti-fan but his debates with destiny did help me understand his perspective). I completely disagree with mrgirls idea that anorexia should not be stigmatized. It honestly needs to be stigmatized more so that anorexic folk (like me at one point) that it is not normal and that you should take actions to fix it. Most disabilities or ailments are stigmatized negatively but anorexia is fetishized and it honestly needs to lose that fetishization.
@parasisnotcool97692 жыл бұрын
You dont need to stigmatize a mental illness to know that you should try to grow out of it. The argument you're making would go for depression, anxiety, etc as well. I think what MrGirl means is that thoughts are not a crime or wrong. Fantasizing about killing someone once in a while does not make you a murderer just as fantasizing about a child once in a while is not wrong. A thought of fantasize can never be "bad/negative" by itself unless it is self-harm. This stigma related to thoughts makes it so that it is easier for people to be in denial about their sexual feelings and less aware about their feelings and makes it more difficult to manage your behaviour. Now, if you fantasize about children a lot, just as if you fantasize about killing a lot or about anything, it requires professional help. If you fantasize about something so much that your everyday life is impacted, you need professional help. I feel that the fear in these comments is that fantasizing about children will lead to child abuse, maybe? Our media culture producing violent and sexual content would need a major overhaul if thinking about things or fantasizing about things would make you do them.

24:20 Hunter we do not ever judge people on their morality on their thoughts. Do you know how many people have fantasized about murdering people? About everyone has at least once in their lifetimes but we understand the differences between a person's character not from thoughts but actions. Also I don't like comparing these two but in this case it's necessary. You can't help who you are attracted to if you are gay. Same for children. Now the commonality between the two are both of those thoughts are amoral. Now one of those can turn into an immoral situation if one decides to act on them because of the other party not being able to give consent and some other problems. Also there is a reason why therapy has never nor will ever work for pedophilia much like therapy never or could never work for homosexuality.
@trashpanda35442 жыл бұрын
I think the main difference between being lgbt and pedophilia is that pedophilia leans more as a fetish rather than a sexuality. Of course you can't help what fetishes you have either. Being gay doesn't have a time limit. You can fall in love as a gay person but you can't fall in love as a pedophile. If you are gay and find other men attractive no matter what age they are and your attraction to them doesn't dissappear once they reach a certain age. Being a pedophile can't be a sexual orientation because a pedophiles attraction is purely based on age and once said kid gets over an age limit they no longer find that person attractive. In that sense they're more like a fetish because fetishes are purely sexual in nature with no romantic intentions.

Perhaps a better set of categories would be sexual interest and romantic interest. We then deem the sexual or romantic interest legal or illegal based on the potential for harm.
