This meditation on mindfulness of the mind-part of the "four applications of mindfulness" framework-combines the elements of concentration (śamatha) and insight (vipaśyanā), in this case focused on the impermanence of mental phenomena. By gently sustaining the process of inquiry, we remove layers of grasping at permanence and slowly make our way towards profound experiential understanding.
