I can personally attest to this, but I‘ve taken it even further. Having bought a treadmill for my home which is set up in my “chill out room” I decided 3 months ago to try out getting on the treadmill for a mere 10 mins incline walk on the hour, every hour, from 9am to 6pm for a total of 10 walks per day; Not only were the increased energy and digestive benefits of this after eating each meal clearly apparent but the total calorie burn amounted to an additional 650 calories burned a day…and all from what felt like nothing more than a mere few minutes of easy walking multiple times throughout the day. My food cravings are immediately negated after each walk and I’ve since reduced my previous daily long slog treadmill jogs from 45 mins twice a day down to just one 20 min incline jog per day coupled with 25 min weights strength training each day, whilst adding an additional 650 total calories burned via the 10 min incline walks, all of which are giving me far greater metabolic and body composition benefits which are keeping me absolutely lean for such minimal output. I can’t stress enough how switching from previously doing two rounds of fairly strenuous 45 min incline jogs each day to just one x 20 min jog and 10 rounds of short and easy 10 mins walks multiple times a day is making keeping lean an absolute breeze, with what feels like such minimal time and effort.

Just wanted to say thank you for the content you guys put out. Especially the stuff geared towards women. I always did some sort of weight training but was definitely stuck in the low calorie zone trying to lose body fat. I was eating about 1400-1500 calories trying to lean out a bit, which did work for a period of time. But once I slowed down, I really didn’t want to go lower than that (I’m currently 5’11, 140lbs, and about 20% body fat). Then I came across your content about metabolism and I’m soo happy I did. I’ve been able to maintain my weight and increase my calories to 2300 (and still increasing) thanks to you guys. I’ve had an increase in energy, increase in strength, and when I want to lean out a bit more later I don’t need to drop so low in calories. Really appreciate your guys time and info you put out. Thank you!

3 years ago I had a body breakdown from a host of different things. I was over training, I was drinking too much coffee, sleeping too little, trying to stuff myself with all the healthy foods out there and super foods. I was a mess. Developed gut issues too. It’s been a long road back to regain my fitness but in the last year I found you guys and started applying all the tips you talk about in the podcast, not only the fitness tips, but the wellness too, taking time for myself and my family and even my work and adding the right amount of fitness into my life, the appropriate, more effective amount, as the guys say. I feel like myself for the first time in 3 years. Mind pump has played a huge part in my rehab, not only helping to improve my physical health but my mental health too. Sincerely thank you!

Would you mind sharing more of what happened to you. I'm going through something similar right now. I work crazy hours ibtrain insane and i have to drink caffeine to workout and stay up . im sleeping 4-5 hours a day 5 days out of 7
@BRAO_art2 жыл бұрын
@@1lift Hey! Yeah, no prob. Hope I can help. Well, I was on a low-carb diet, working out 7days /week- 1 and 1/2 hour workouts too (which I later discovered I was doing more endurance/cardio weightlifting) and every other hour I was working, sleeping 5-6 hours every night. At one point my workouts started to suffer, I noticed I wasnt sweating anymore, I started getting rashes on the places I usually sweat the most. Then I couldn't sleep anymore, I would lay down to sleep and my body would want to do otherwise, so I would sleep about 3 hours every night because I didnt want to miss any workouts. Plus, I would drink 800ml to a liter of coffee everyday and was trying to bulk, to put on muscle, so I was eating too much of everything, except starches and liquid calories. During this time, or more so the first couple of years, I did lose fat, the begging of my fitness journey was very good, the low carb diet was very good to me and the workouts too. The last year of that fitness journey was the worst, where I just ramped up the volume, the food, and everything. I just did too much of everything as I look back to it. I did go to a Doctor, and I got the gut issues slowly fixed, or managed, and they tried to get me to sleep more, so I started taking melatonin to aid the sleep. It helped, but I didnt feel like myself for a while even after that. Anyways, I started listening to MP and it took me a while to actually follow their advice. It was hard for me to go from 7d/w workouts to just 3 and actually feed the body and build muscle. But when I did it was almost immediate. The 3d/w full body routine was a blessing, My sleep got better, I felt more relaxed over all, I got back to concentrate on my work and family, it was like a fog lifted from me. My gut issues are gone, because I started to enjoy myself more, I did go back to a regular diet, but focused on whole foods (this was easy because I was already doing this, but when I added starches again my gut health got better, maybe because I was stuffing myself with too much protein or fiber). Like, their message of doing this to improve your life was one of the main points, I had to shut off the part of me that was obsessed with diet and exercise and when I did, everything started to get better. Recently, I mean like, 2 days ago I think, they did an episode on hydration, and even though I was always on point with it I always felt de-hydrated and I looked into my habits and realized I was probably drinking too much coffee, even though I was looking out for my hydration. So I decided to really reduce it, went from 600-700ml a day to just 100-150ml, first day was terrible, but that same night I noticed my skin got better. I had these dry elbows for so long and it just started getting better. Hey, sorry this was a long answer, but wanted to give you context, maybe it help more people too. Oh, another thing, this is the first time in my life I see strength gains. I did my first dip because of these guys, deadlifting over 140kg... but the most important thing is that for the first time is that I actually feel like myself after all these 3 years of trying to fight this thing. MP definitely have the right message for the average person, I can't thank them enough. If want to talk more, let me know! Hope all works out! Listen to them!! Cheers
@1lift2 жыл бұрын
thank you for sharing . You were definitely drinking too much coffee not will it dehydrate you it will also make you lose magnesium . I'm into a Hollistic approach so i take alot nature supplements minerals herbs and i do eat carbs the right amount amd also protein . I thinknthats what has helped me i take naps during the day when i can. But definitely sleep os very important
@BRAO_art2 жыл бұрын
@@1lift Yeah, for sure. I do supplement with magnesium. Reducing the workouts was the main thing. It was a lot of stress in the body, that, plus the constant thinking about food, and when will I exercise next. Reducing it made me less stressed out about everything else. But I had to trust MP for that, it was tough at first, but it made things more clear. Now I'm back at 5d/w workouts, but 2 of them are really light, doing their focus, trigger or mobility sessions, and my mindset is totally different. Give it a try. Like Sal says, fasting can be used for things other than food, take a couple weeks break, then come back slowly and see it it helps with your sleep. Did for me, big time.

Surely average person if not fitness fanatic or have so much muscle mass like a body builder to burn it all off.

It's actually ancient information. Ayurveda promotes walking after a meal....specifically 100 steps (so a 2min walk). Also, if you didn't know, drinking water after a meal isn't a good idea...something most of us do. Personally I find diet drinks to be a slippery slope. Going for over 10 years without having one soda, I recently decided to try a Diet Coke. Now I have a case in my refrigerator and order them more consistently at restaurants. I think Justin’s right and they might have left a few ingredients from the old days in these things. “Diet” products in general to the public are misguided because people miscalculate the volume they are consuming. I have noticed for me personally the best results I have had physically and mentally (less anxiety) was when I started tracking what I ate- didn’t do this to lose or gain weight but just to be honest about what I was eating throughout the day. Great episode guys! Still not gonna get on a helicopter. Too many horror stories 😳

Very interesting to hear you guys talk about minimum wage. I’ve been waiting to hear your thoughts on it! Are you fans of UBI? I'm 45, 167, 5-9 and just started lifting last August. I'd guess my bf% is in the 15-19% range. I've spent that time in the gym doing full body, then upper/lower and now just started a PPL program all with varying rep ranges (5-6 up to 15-20, but most in the 8-12 range). I'm interested in trying your guy's programs so which would you recommend I go with? I've also spent most of this time in a calorie deficit to lose 75lbs. Now I've just started a surplus to gain more muscle mass.

I'm always in a deficit. I prioritize my protein take in about 120 grams a day. Weight lift and very little cardio. Any suggestions would be great!

In the summer when McD's has their 1$ any size soft drink sale, I will regularly get a drink on a hot day. We fill our own cups at the soft drink station so I fill my cup with 3/4 carbonated water and 1/4 diet coke. Anything more than 1/4 is too sweet for my taste.

I am going to piggyback on the question about calories burned. I get that you cannot base workout effectiveness on the number of calories burned, but should you consider that number (esp if you go with a modest calculation) when calculating caloric intake? i.e. If I am aiming to hit a number for maintenance, should I be looking at total calories consumed or net calories?

Not trying to flex on you guys but the hottest day I ever experienced in my life was in Iraq. I was at Haditha Dam and had to convoy to Barwana and back in the middle of the day. I didn't know how hot it was until the end of the day. I drank 22.5 liters of water that day just trying to stay hydrated. I had sweat so much that the salt from my body "starched" my undershirt and blouse into standing up straight with out any help. After seeing this, my buddies told me that one of the thermometers was trying to push past 130° F while in the shade at the base of the dam.

Celebrities are definitely overpaid and way too important to many people, but at the least they (for the most part) have a skill and went through the grind to get to where they're at. Royalty is just a birthright. Edit - maybe I'm narrowing my scope too much thinking celebrities just means actors. The sex-tape-for-fame variety comes to mind.
