Not only are you a craftsman and an artist this is one of the best filmed and edited videos I have seen on KZbin. I work in the film industry as a director of photography and also editing it was wonderful not to see those awful jump-cuts that are disturbing. What a pleasure to see art in all forms. Excellent work. Very well done!

Beautiful work. One suggestion, for sanding the resin, look into getting some Micro Mesh sandpaper. The full set goes from 1200 grit to 12,000 grit and when done gives you an optical finish on the resin. Using the Novus polish as the final step gives it a nearly perfect glass finish.

@@MindToMade I think I know where your disquiet is coming from. By using an oil finish, it is very matt on the wood, while the resin remains with a very high degree of sheen. You could try using a sanding sealer and paste wax or even sanding sealer and melamine finish to get the wood just as glossy as the resin?
@MindToMade
@MindToMade 5 жыл бұрын
Good ideas Richard. My main problem was with the cuts. I should of used the white acrylic in the joints so the points were still prevalent when the blue filled the voids. Also the blade was a bit wide so it left a rounding effect at the bottom of some grooves i didn't notice till i turned it thin

Awesome video man! Well done. Loved your expression when faced with the sanding task. I picked up a tip years ago that is really relevant to this day, which is to take a used dryer sheet and rub your face shield and glasses. Dust or any kind of shaving will not stick. Makes life a little simpler. Gotta be a used sheet though since new sheets have too much fabric softener and leads to streaking, which defeats the entire purpose. Don't ask me how I know...

There's a few reasons here. 1. I'm currently operating at a loss while trying to hone my woodworking skills alongside my video production skills to bring quality and entertaining content for my audience, with the hopes that maybe someday I can turn a consistent profit. 2. Once I feel my projects are sale worthy I will sell the pieces as unique works of art. I have no idea on market prices so I don't currently have any idea what this would be worth. Currently because of video production and also the experimental mindset between each piece the builds take much longer. 3. It gets me off my butt (a little) 😉

All the way through this I was thinking what a pity he’s made then ruined a nice bowl then suddenly at the end it was wow! Amazing.

@Nina K. You just inadvertently took me on a wonderful journey - I hit your profile picture, (I was curious about seeing a woman on a woodturning channel - no reason not to, but it's usually just men....who like watching other men work) and saw your 'Corona' subsection.....more curiousity. Then I found 80s music, (sorry, I never got The Police - don't hold it against me) including Simple Minds and Pink Floyd - both huge parts of my life a long time ago. So the journey....after Don't You Forget about Me* Glittering Prize Love Song New Gold Dream I Travel Someone Somewhere in Summertime The American Chelsea Girl Speed your Love And I listened to a bit of Ghost Dancing, but I forgot that it irritates me. Don't You Forget about Me gets a hard time from 'musos' but I kinda get why that and Waterfront were important - I love the early stuff. I'm a Glasgow (Southside) lad, with a lot of love for Simple Minds, so thanks for inadvertently taking me back nearly 40 years, (in the case of Chelsea Girl it's actually 41 years). Take care ✌️

@Nina K. A muso would be a music snob. Not a snob* who only listens to Classical or Opera, but the kind of bore who'd try to belittle you for enjoying something popular. In this instance there are Simple Minds fans who dislike their successful music - tell them you like 'Don't You Forget about Me' or 'Waterfront' and they'll tell you that they only listen to the "early stuff" circa 1979 - 82, after which they "obviously" went downhill - they'd "sold out", and played stadiums . Utter nonsense of course - music is there to be enjoyed, and if you happen to enjoy something popular or commercial that's fine - likewise if you enjoy something obscure that's fine too - it's not for me to tell people what they can or cannot enjoy, and we all have guilty pleasures anyway, so I try to behave myself when I come across someone who enjoys K-pop, for instance. Nothing wrong with attempting to educate people, and there's no doubt that the 60s - 90s were 'better' musically, but there are ways of expressing yourself that without coming across as a snob - a muso. *Incidentally, the use of the word "snob" at the beginning is kinda clumsy - obviously it's used in a general way to describe people of a certain social class, but I don't subscribe to that idea - I've met some people from that background who are anything but snobbish. One more thing - if you enjoy this type of content you might enjoy - Matt Jordan Pocket 83 The Samurai Carpenter Pask Makes, and there's another channel which you might enjoy called 'Shurap' - he's a Ukrainian blacksmith who makes exquisite knives from very unlikely materials - all steel of course, but he's a real artist - doesn't say a word, and I can understand that knives aren't usually seen as beautiful, but if you give him 10 minutes you might be surprised. It's been really nice talking with you - we are living in very strange times, and these little interactions can be extremely uplifting, so thank you Nina - take care of yourself and your family & stay safe✌️ Oh, and yes you should try to take some inspiration from this - take a look at Pask Makes - he's very good, and his Scrapwood Challenges will give you good for thought - go for it✌️

@Nina K. Oh no, that's a real shame - I've suffered from the disappearing KZbin comments on several occasions - it can be incredibly frustrating, particularly if it's a long or detailed comment. Your English is wonderful - I'd never have guessed that it wasn't your first language. (although I was aware that you weren't British) Scandinavians and the Dutch are known to speak excellent English, but I'll admit to not knowing how popular it is in Austria. Do many Austrians speak English? I believe that you are the first Austrian I've spoken to on KZbin, at least the first I've known to be Austrian. You've mentioned being very busy, (and tired) are you in the medical profession? What is the current situation in Austria? You've got quite a long border with Northern Italy, although it was centred around Bergamo - at least it was early on, so how well is Austria dealing with the situation? I'd read an uplifting story just yesterday about an Austrian company, KTM (Pierer AG) - the boss, (CEO?) Stefan Pierer, along with the board have decided to distribute substantial funds back out to the dealer network, so that the dealers, and employees, can cope with the huge loss of business - maybe not a big story, but it's good to hear a positive story right now, as there are a lot of negative stories regarding job losses and financial insecurity - a lot of people are under a lot of pressure. I don't know how significant an employer KTM is in Austria, but it's very well known internationally, and that will do it's reputation no harm. Sorry, I went off on a bit of a tangent, but the KTM story just came to mind. I'll go now as it's late, but it'd be nice to hear back from you, so from Scotland, take care of yourself and stay safe ✌️
