Minecraft Tutorial: How to build EPIC things (generally)

These are easy things you should take care of when building a structure in Minecraft.
I'm not a huge fan of simple tutorials. So I decided that it is much better for people to rather hear what I'm taking care of while building, than just to know how a specific structure is built.
I hope you agree and that this will help you ;)

There is a such thing as too much randomness. Many of the greatest buildings today have symmetrical touches to them. Similar towers for example, but the towers have detail. Just look at some of the Churches and Gothic style buildings to see a lot of symmetrical building going on. It is important though to add detail. But too much randomness will just make the build look ugly.

Yeah this comment was 4 years ago but I agree. There is such thing as too much randomness, sometimes in my builds I have mossy cobble and regular cobble and have to use coordinated randomness if that makes sense. I place initially random but then follow a procedure around that random block

The people that don't like these builds simply don't understand the archectual part of Minecraft, it's the style Madnes builds in so sorry, you're just going to have to deal with it. Madnes64 inspired me greatly, and every other video he makes inspires me even more.

Not really. It's just the style of a lot of big builders. The sheer amount of detail and size compensates for it looking like crap upon closer inspection. I always try to add details to what I do, but I try to make them look as good as possible, even creating and choosing between multiple options.

Peoply who say they have OCD... stop saying that if you don't know what it is. It's natural to avoid asymmetry because humans are always looking for a certain symmetry in everything, even in faces. But OCD is a disorder that destroyed the life of many people (OCD isn't restricted to asymmetry. For example there are people who are forced to think something all the time even if they don't want to think that thought). So stop saying you have OCD unless you've got it really, but then you wouldn't spread so proudly in the internet....

I have actual OCD and the no one tries to defend me and others. I'm quite happy that someone knows the definition. But I and some others don't mind a "gamer OCD" that gives them a urge to organize (their inventory on Minecraft) and building symmetrical. So people don't need to get and cause of them. -Kraftyan (I know I'm late... on the replie)

But I think it's ok to do that because 99% don't know what OCD actually is so it's becomea expressive word kind of like when sad people say there depressed when they're not. You'd have to teach the whole world the real meanings of OCD and reprogram them to stop using it for that situation. It would be impossible to do so might as well say your "ocd" when you see something un symmetry or your room isn't cleaned and you just have to clean it. Just my thought though.

Here's some texture packs I would use: If you want to build something futuristic or modern, use Flows HD. If you want something old and medieval, use John Smith Legacy. Lastly, if you like the default textures, use Faithful. It's the same as the default textures, but more detailed and eye catching.

Nerio Prado OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. People with OCD usually cannot stand for things to be asymmetrical, and they like for things to be aligned properly (hence the saying: "If it's not a right angle, it's a wrong angle"). The common disorder OCD goes much deeper than what I have explained, but that's a small taste of it.

Even though I've added my own things to the buildings and my own method, I still use the basic structure that you taught in some of your older tutorials. I've always preferred building things with odd numbers, because the doors are odd, and even designs look... Rather odd. I had no idea that asymmetry looked better than symmetry. I guess this is just a personal style reference, but I think depth to a buiding brings a better (sometimes also more unrealistic maybe) look to the building. I do not like the (big, imo) random parts, there are too much "random" parts to your walls for them to be "random". Sometimes they take up to 50% of the wall in the examples, which makes them look too intended. What I refer more as depth is moving your actual wall 1 block inwards, so your wooden pillars standing on the corners, and connecting them on the floor levels. Or, adding fences/less "random" parts to a wall. What I do like is your roofs and your towers! (jealous on your towers, I should actually learn to build them myself lol). Nice video, and happy building!
