I have a 2016 Polaris ATV, they use torque converters (machine is automatic with H, L, & R). I'm impressed with how fast and smooth my machine will launch. For those of you who have a 570, it will go from 0-67mph in high gear. I wouldn't hesitate to put a torque converter in anything. Glad to see the mini bike upgraded from the clutch.

I'd love to see some numbers (acceleration) when you compare centrifugal to TC. Just need a stop watch and tape measure. Not 100% accurate but it is cool to see that. Great work!

at your 5:00 , I made 4 oblong holes with a roto zip where the regular holes were so the main mount bracket could easily be adjusted counterclockwise to keep the mount from hitting the frame. also installed a adjustable motor plate.mocked up a real good chain tensioner also.

I have an old video how to install one on a doodlebug, it was all dirty at the time, now it is a lot cleaner. Ever since the video it has been camed and new tires and more. I used 1.5" box steel that had been sliced in half leaving me with two 3/4" C shaped pieces. Has held up great, no problems.

about your mini bike you can add a longer shaft on the back part of converter and put the sprocket on right side instead then change back wheel put the chain sprocket on right side

If I may make a suggestion for future builds where risky old 2x4s are an option, consider a product often used in construction: Unistrut. It's incredibly versatile.

I actually prefer the centrifugal clutch over the torque converter on minibikes. so much more direct just have to have the right gear ratio. and i ride in very hilly woods trails. gokars are better with the torque converter just because of the weight and its nice to go slower in the tight trails

You guys are awesome very cool mini bike! You guys actually had inspired me to build my own mini bike this summer i welded the fram and made more ore less the full frame by my selfe (i teached my self how to weld on this projekt :D ugly but it holds) but i build it elektric and it has only 300 watts but its so cool to drive down the street it makes up to 20km/h with my weigth on it not incredibil fast and not even as much tourq as ur awesome bikes but i had a lot of fun building it thank you guys for the motivation !!! Yeah when i did this to a baja i just oval'd out the two of the wholes in the aluminum backing plate and then it bolts right up.

Yall definitely needa mess with those motorized bicycles. their motor has a cult following behind them much like the predator motor but have the advantage of obviously being 2 stroke so much simpler engine also parts are much cheaper. believe it or not if u mock up one of those motors enough, you'd get close to 9 hp, granted their not as torquey as ur predators and contain a smaller higher power band but that's why their used on bicycles so u can make up for the low end loss. I've always wanted to see somebody put a torque converter on one of these to see the advantages and disadvantages it would bring. keep up the great work, love your show and all your projects.

I cut about 3 inches of aluminium from the bottom of my torque converter, works fine. Wasn't willing to cut frame and weaken it.

hey I put a torque converter on my minibike (sold it tho) had a 5hp Briggs industrial engine which makes a ton of torque as is and with the converter it did wheelies at half throttle. the minibike in my profile pic is the one. also, the older model baja minibike have alot more room for engines, they where more square just to let ya know

If you take off the governor,..what do you have to modify to compensate for the change? Is it .036 jet, 140 emulsion tube, performance air filter, and 18 lb springs,..is that enough ? Do you HAVE TO change to billet rod and billet flywheel (performance), also, or can you leave that until later without it damaging the engine ?
