We did it! We swapped the 6.5 hp Predator in this mini bike and now it is very fast. If you have this mini bike and want to go fast, don't bother modifying the existing motor, just go ahead and do a Predator swap. It was a pretty straightforward and simple swap and was well worth it.

I have the same bike and engine. If you want to do this mod, my advice is to grind the front oil drain bolt down. It makes the installation of the engine much easier.

I did this conversion with a co-worker about 7 years ago and it was ridiculously fast even with the restriction on. Not stable, and easy to crash, and we left the stock brakes on. I took it for a spin, and it was wild. Just holding on the handlebars tightly can get you into trouble as you twist the throttle, because the pull of the bike makes you twist the throttle harder :)

i remember as a kid and racing minibikes at the Saddleback Motorcycle Park in Santiago Canyon, Southern California. I was sponsored and raced for " The Hawk " Racing Team. I rode a modified Zebra Mini Bike, with a 6 horse Techumshe motor punched out with a mikuni 26 carburetor running nitro methane using a torque convertor putting 12 horse to the rear wheel. I was clocked at speeds in access of 60 to 70 miles per hour. Those were the day's.

The best upgrade to life in general is a Predator swap!! I was barely able to fit mine into my 1970 El Tigre (thats what she said). The gas cap is about 3/4" from the frame and the spark plug boot is about 1/4" from the frame.. I also had to modify and flip the exhaust manifold and make it run outboard because it wouldnt clear my sloping rear framerails. Somehow I made it fit and its nothing but pure joy! With 6:1 ratio gearing, the front wheel just wants to stay in the air and thats how I like it :).

remove the 4 mounting bolts holding the current motor on, unhook the chain, throttle cable and killswitch cable, engine should slide right out, and then basically do all those steps in reverse when putting the 212 on lol

I recently purchased a predator and put it on my mini baja. There is a lot random rattling noise. Do you experience the same thing?. Also I have a comet tav2-30 torque converter and we put it on and something isn't right. I accelerate but then I don't really go fast at all. Also the throttle is super weird and I don't know why. It doesn't spring back and when you push it back and forth from the throttle itself its not smooth. Idk what to do about torque converter and idk if it's not for the 212.

I have another question. the video where you guys put the torque converter on the go kart... the link in the description to go power sports... is that the exact torque converter that's on the go kart? im gonna do another minibike with the predator 212 and I want the right torque converter for it

+EliteBoxer92 I know I'm kind of late, but the rattling is the clutch plates most likely, or if your chain is loose it could be that. My Comet Torque converter does that. And if you are not getting very much top end, put a smaller sprocket in the rear.

+EliteBoxer92 also with the throttle, the predators don't come with a spring on the lever for the throttle, you need to install one. If that doesn't fix the problem I could be your throttle linkage, cable, or the handle. If you have any more questions, let me know.

These engines only spin at 3600rpm wheras your dirtbike engine spins at 10,000+ rpm. Also these engines should never need a rebuild. But chances are your bike does every 100 - 200 hours right?

Motorcycle engines are made out of higher quality materials, (forged piston and crank, titanium valves or something near) and with much closer tolerances. These little engines make less even though they're bigger because they aren't tuned the same and aren't built with the notion that they can bump compression since there will be a steady stream of air to cool it. Think of it more as an engine from a power washer, rather than a moto engine.

Is it just me who think 6.5 hp from a 212cc engine is pathetic. most 125cc motorcycle engines put out over 10 hp and are good for 30 hp if you put some time and money in to it.

+Schizoman The 212cc engine is a four stroke. I'd bet that the 125cc engines you're talking about are two strokes... They make much more power/cc, but they're a lot more expensive. Plus, these 212cc four strokes we use can be built up to 20 or even 25 horsepower.

there is a throttle stop on the carb on that new motor. pull the throttle wide open and the screw it hits on the top of the carb back that out till it doesn't hit it anymore. mine went from 28 mph to 39 mph
