Ideally, you would be in a dark room. I think that would show the true contrast/black level capabilities. The same reason people put led lights on the back of LED TVs because it helps improve the appearance of the contrast. In a dark room, with no lights on, I reckon the OLED would be much better, and the TCL would have raised blacks.

Having a Samsung TV for over 11 years I thought it was time to upgrade and I would try TCL after some research, since they are now the 2nd biggest TV maker in the world, not so big in Europe but massive in America i thought they must be good. There's also a 2 year warranty. Its the price that stood out for me, you get all the bells and whistles at a decent price. I bought the TCL C805 65 inch recently coming from my old 46 inch Samsung which served me well and still works. I was looking to get the C855 however the price difference between the 805 and that is around 600 euros. It's also not easy get the C855 here in Ireland. The C805 has practically all the same features except the brightness and sound system of the C855. Very minute I plugged in the TCL I was very impressed, very easdy to setup out of the box, just set the picture to Movie mode and off you go, even though its 1300 Nits I had to turn down the brightness a bit to what it's default was at, very impresssed even with its own sound although I use a JBL Atmos soundbar. Also a very bright Picture with what looks like perfect blacks, it has ALL the features for streaming like Dolby Atmos it also has all the HDR modes, the 120 FPS VRR mode for gaming is brilliant so it ticks all the boxes on the Xbox!! I have it a month now and really happy with the TV all around. Around a 1000 euros was my budget and its a great TV for the price, it cost me 1100, but of course would love to have got the C855. The speed of the menu is also extremely impressive, its really like being on your smartphone with instant response, very impressed with that. It also switches on very quick. The 805 also has a more modern slightly faster Processor than the 855 but that doesn't really matter at the end of the day, its all about Picture quality.. Hope this helps anybody trying to decide on a budget.. Thanks for the Vid from Ireland...

I am in the exact same position. I have an old 46 inch Samsung LCD (was considered a flagship when I got it some 15 years ago) but an upgrade is long overdue. I was looking at the 65 inch C855 (around 1500 euros), and the 65 inch Samsung S90C and S90D at around 1400 and 1600 euros respectively. But I just found an offer for the 77 inch C805 for 1050 euros. So I'm seriously considering it. My only real concerns are possible overblown/unnatural colors and its brightness performance in a well lit room. Will also be using it for gaming. Could you give any feedback on that?

My wife and I bought this TV upon release here in the UK last September 2023. I was stunned because it can go on par with Samsung S90C when calibrated properly. 4K viewing experience is phenomenal. The only compromise it has so far is the weak bass compared to Samsung which is superb, but everything other than that is awesome. We still have it with zero issues.

I have the C4 and no KZbinr on earth could convince me to buy a TCL or Hisense over it. The LG is a massive step up in quality. And J have zero green tint at angles. If you test in Dolby Vision there would be no contest.
@acuras863 күн бұрын
My new C4 also doesn't have the green tint , also the sound quality is surprisingly more than decent, when put in cinema or music mode. This LG though really shines when watching in a darkened or light controlled room, especially content in HDR or Dolby Vision, its literally like you're looking through a window, its so 3D and lifelike. This LG also have a very good upsampler, pretty close to Sony quality, on viewing material less than 4K or HD . I usually have the "pixel brightness" set at under 30 or 40% in a darkened room, otherwise its too bright and colors get blown way off. The only downside i have with the TV so far, is I don't like that the remote control is "not" backlit. The remote is well built, but the button layout trying too navigate in the dark is not intuitive, or well laid out so i'm constantly hitting the wrong button.
@BrettK-e3k3 күн бұрын
I have it set to standard but it still auto adjusts for HDR and Dolby Vision, the Dolby Vision is unreal
@acuras863 күн бұрын
I will check out standard, I usually use cinema home, or cinema, or if available ISF bright or dark mode, and set the "pixel brightness" accordingly. I also like the LG feature, that when viewing either HDR or Dolby Vision content, the TV will automatically display this fact on the top right hand corner of the TV screen.

The comparison between these two models seems heavily sponsored. Black images are compared on a static, motionless image, and the end of the video lacks detail, but on the TCL, you can see the glow of unblocked street lights, so the black leaves much to be desired. I tested it myself on the Motion test, and the TCL completely failed. Unfortunately, MiniLED is still far from perfect. I also think there is a slight color distortion in TCL, similar to Samsung (which is why they don't have Dolby Vision).

Now, he doesn't game and we didnt try and calibrate things but, yeah. It kinda scared me off. I just wonder if mini led can manage to have less grey blacks in game mode without adding input lag?
