Hello Captain Robert! I have this bird as well and it is very difficult to launch by holding fuselage because the EDF's below the wings will make the plane pitch up when at slow speeds. I suggest taking off from the ground (asphalt) or doing a side arm sling launch (this method is what I use). Banana Hobby sells this plane and they have an excellent demonstration of a hand launch in their promotion video on KZbin. I fly it on 3S and I can say that it flies great and is pretty fast for having 50mm EDFS. I found the recommended CG to be good.

12 blades are more effective with large ductwork and cheater holes in the fuselage. Here we got real narrow engine nacelles - so they are choked for air, not getting enough thrust for take-off. The stock 5 blades be better :) 12 blades - mass airflow and torque 5 blades - less mass airflow, higher rpm.

You always hear guys talking about putting a O.S. Max .40 FP on a Sig Kadet LT-25 being way too much power for a .25 size plane. You can jerk it into a straight vertical 150' - 200' foot climb after you takeoff in less than 12' foot. Well now you have the opposite problem here. Not enough grunt to get airborne and stay airborne. If given the choice I would always take the former first and would rather be overpowered than underpowered. Your only caveat is knowing how to select the proper pitch prop so you can throttle down and land without stalling. You could test that fooling around on the ground driving and gunning the throttle. Whatever you got wrong could be easily corrected on it's first few flights until you dial it in perfectly.

I have been through it with this little jet, and mine is really beat up now from many failed hand launches. I've posted alot of my crashes on my instagram @mustacheguy if you want to see me beating the crap out of it. Mine only has the 6 bladed fans but still has plenty of power, the key is you got to throw it really hard to avoid the stall so it gets on step as quick as possible, which is a problem because the way you have to hold it. The way i helped fix this is cutting finger holes in the little magnet hatch on the bottom so i have something to grab closer to the CG. It also doesn't land worth of crap on the grass, it always flips or tumbles and tries to break something so yeah, i've glued it back together a lot. With the wheels on it does takeoff and land pretty well but just don't leave the ground too soon. I have had some better flights recently and can say once it's up and going it flys on rails, i just wish i would have gotten more wheels off flights before it got all crinkled up.
@rogerioaraujo32633 жыл бұрын
Seems a little heavy. Next time try to remove gears for a hand toss. Also, check if you can use 4S with your ESC and EDF. This will provide more RPM that equals to more thrust. Use a 4S 2200 or one with same weight or little lighter than the 3S 2700 you used. It will fly!
@ronkievit6843 Жыл бұрын
I'm a huge fan of Petrincic Bros videos. I find them honestly informative and fun to watch. "Just an observation" I just ordered this jet from Banana hobby along with a pair of upgraded 12 blade EDFs along with a set of 40amp ESCs. I noticed in the other unboxing/setup video, there was a set of EDFs in a CW and CCW configuration that were to be installed. This jet comes factory with 5 blade EDFs that both rotate the same direction. Is it possible either the counter rotating EDFs or maybe one was accidentally wired to spin the same direction as the other would cause not enough thrust to get the plane in the air?
@lukebaker11673 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they also like an airframe that suits the EDF size and thrust output!!! Piss them childerens hairdryers off, like u said rewire it all to 6s, and precisely locate twin 90mm EDFs, might take a bit of foam sculpting for realism but it will f%$king hammer!!!! I would........

Oooohhhh dear…. Instead of ohhh yeah. But I do think this plane will take off with just a little bit more speed. From the 2nd attempt you could see it was almost there. So if you will take it to a paved runway it will get the speed soon enough. And hopefully she will be a decent flyer. Now of course this is not the freewing kind of plane but it doesn’t matter….she is sexi as hell ! Greetings to you my friends

I have the arrows 50 millimeter viperjet which calls for a 3s but I use a 4 instead way faster on 4S
@patdiviney76303 жыл бұрын
The voltage drop across two motors is too large for a 3s lipo. Use a 4s lipo and you will have enough thrust to hand launch. With two motors running the voltage drop on a 4s will be similar to a fully charged 3s battery during flight.
@r00kiepilot3 жыл бұрын
That makes no sense at all. With same motors, going to higher voltage, power goes up W^3 as RPM goes up. So current consumption will be very high, probably too high for those motors. Those 3s fans should produce around 400g thrust each which is more than plenty, and peak current only around 25A. I would even suggest a smaller 3s battery to improve T/W. The plane seemed to have a problem with warped surfaces as it banked straight after hand launch and gear take off. That's the real problem.
@patdiviney76303 жыл бұрын
@@r00kiepilot you are not accounting for the large voltage drop induced by two EDF motors in parallel drawing from one 3s battery. A 4s battery will also have a large voltage drop but even with the voltage drop it should be able to deliver a voltage similar to a 3s battery with no load.

Most epo foam jets are too heavy for 50mm edf. I only keep them for scratchbuilt which is much lighter. At 50mm you should be using 4s and not 3s. If your jet cannot float/hang at 100 percent throttle vertically, then you should not hand toss it.
@PetrincicBrosRC3 жыл бұрын
This is really nothing my friend.
@r00kiepilot3 жыл бұрын
Completely wrong! This is a JPower 50mm jet, JPower produced them for around 10 years. Check rcgroups, many people have been flying them very successfully on 3s. Yes 4s gives more power, but also more weight, higher wing loading, higher stall speed, etc. Those little 12 blade 3s motors produce around 400g static thrust in most of these JPower jets, and the jets themselves weigh between 275g (AMX) to 375g (F-35) for the singles, so more than 1/1 TW which is plenty. And with a wing area between 5.3dm^2 and 9dm^2 wing loading of these little jets is not high. Sure the twins are a bit more heavy and tricky. Keep it light with a small battery.

It is not possible to force a plane when the speed is too low. It always ends in a crash. The aircraft lifts itself, the speed is sufficient. The same when landing. The plane lands when it is ready for landing. It is not possible to force the plane down then it does not end so well.
