Simple and cheap to build with the exception of the outrageously priced top plate at the Etsy link. It's much cheaper to make your own. Other than that, this is a great little tabletop router table! I will build or buy a full size table later, but I need one quick for a project that I'm surprising my wife with while she's traveling! This fits the bill perfectly!! Thanks, Matt! One suggestion: You could add a couple of T-tracks so that the fence can be adjusted without using clamps. It's just a little easier, but requires a couple extra cuts and the need to buy some T-track. With what you save by not buying that top plate at Etsy, you could buy the T-track and use a table saw to cut the dado without needing to buy an expensive dado blade to do it. Just shave a bit at a time to get that sweet spot for the T-track!

I figure on making something very similar, perhaps even this one from your plans. :-) The only changes I would make is find someplace else for storing the fence and put a French cleat on the back. I have a French cleat on the front of my workbench, so being able to just move the router table from the French cleat wall to the front of my workbench will make it an easy height to work on without having to clamp it to the workbench. Thank ya much for this, and all the rest, of your videos. :-)

I've got a cheap Kobalt 10" 15 amp job site table saw and I've made a "drop-in" palm router table to go in the slide out section. I'm gonna try to adapt your fence for it, thanks so much for the inspiration and the know-how brother!

I have a cheap kobalt 10" 15amp job site table too, do you have plans for this drop in? How did you make it? And yeah the fence is a good idea.
@skampp
@skampp 7 ай бұрын
@@dardack Oh I'm sure there's a better one out there somewhere. But I just took an oak 1x8 that I had and cut it to length I think 23", then put rabbets on the underside left and right to make it fit the slide-out opening snugly. I planed it down to level with the table. I made my router holes (countersunk from the top for bolts) and bolted it on. I made a miter slot on the long edge. I used the fence from this as a basis for mine, but I made some "ears" or whatever for the underside of the fence and snug them up with finger bolts from the top like any other jig. Super simple, quick and dirty, but it works really well. I use my a palm router in this, it's easy to open the router latch and drop it out to change the bit, then pop it back in. I know that was basic, let me know if you have any questions.

Hiya Outlaw! Long time stalker of the channel, finally made the plunge into wood working and routing, and I purchased a couple of your bundles and I am starting with the Mini Router Table. I have my pieces cut rough, all are sanded and smoothed, but I have not yet cut down the final dimensions in the guide. I also purchased the same insert from Woodgrain Junkies too. I was wondering for the template you created to plunge cut the insert portion, what thickness of plywood did you use? It looked like either 1/2 or maybe 3/4? I only ask because I got that same Rockler bit from a local Rockler store here in St. Louis. And its length seems kinda on a short side. And I know you should not have your bit extending to far out of the router chuck. Just wanted to check with you on that. Many thanks! Bless!

If it ever decides to cool off enough to get out and build something this might be where I direct my energy. That person selling the acrylic plate is going to be wondering why they can't keep up making those LOL! I'm sure they use a CNC and batch out several in a couple of hours but still... You've built this channel up to the point that if only 2-5% of your subscribers were to order within the first week that's a lot of router plates sold!

You're very informative and very good at what you do. And you do all kinds of cool things. But my issue is I'm a total beginner and I'm losing my mind slowly anyway because I'm 7 years old p I have one leg and you going too fast for me. I mean I've just fell in love or woodworking in love with it in the last 4 months. So I'm waiting for my table. Saw to come this week and then I'm going to be practicing all that I learned from you and some of the other good ones. At least the ones I consider good like bourbon mouth and that one lady. I don't know her name. She just moved into a new place and she's very good at what she does and then there's this other lady that's got so many tricks. She must be teaching at MIT because she's way up there and I don't know her name never show her face. I can only go by your hands and her apron. She always wears the same apron so she is. I just love watching her. She's so informative. Anyway you and several other anyway, you and several others have paved the way for me to start doing my stuff and I have some very good ideas that I haven't seen out there probably is but I haven't seen it so I'm anxious to get going on that. I get my table saw coming but the key is coming next month. Sorry I'm going to fix income. You know pension and and social security. It's okay but I had a lot of things that screwed me up in the past and we slept. Left me doing stuff. I shouldn't have been wasting money and all that garbage. Anyway. Next month I plan to get what I need and then I'll be on my way there. Hopefully teaching some people some things anyway. Good day, please slow down just a tad bit. I'm washing your mini router table so and that's what I need because you know I just I don't have a real bench. And I have half a shed like 10x10 and I'm sharing that with our totes. So while back I saw a tote stand and I'd like to get to make one of those one of the first things to make after I you know. Try to make a little bit of money at first but I know I can make money. I just got to get my skills out there that ain't been really cold. You know skilled like what you guys have. They're different on a different level. You know airbrushing very good with that. Hairbrush so anyway good day. Hope you get this message. Thank you, barry

All he used was a table saw and jigsaw… jigsaws are like 30 bucks. And a table saw should be the first tool you buy if you are getting into woodworking. It’s the cornerstone of everything. Used ones can be found for less than 150. Further more you can literally do all These cuts with the jigsaw, handsaws, or whatever. Now for the recess insert. Surely you have a router to do that or why are you even making a router table for a router you don’t have?

IMHO…this build is not all that simple, as another viewer has said. Were I too possess enough skill to build this, I’d more than likely already be in possession a router table that I know how to use, even the inexpensive by highly touted Skil table. So this would a nice gift for a friend, perhaps. But very instructive, nonetheless. Also, I’m often amused ( and sometimes not) by the viewer’s comments. When someone offers a critique, beginning by calling you Dude-an always condescending moniker-it’s apparent you’re dealing with dreaded Smartest Guy In The Room. Always laughable. Thanks for a great clip….again.
