I just started a theater company pre pandemic and have stockpiled costumes. I definitely need to hold a lot of them but it’s a ton of stuff and I’m torn on how I can downsize. Any help is appreciated!

@@BrookedeRosa how cool! Are you using your home as the permanent business base? If so, I would recommend storing them as compacted as possible and dedicate an official ‘business zone’ so they don’t take over the house.

@@MiaDanielle that is a great idea! Yes sadly currently they are in the house, but I am hoping to eventually put them on those stand up racks in a storage space! I want to declutter but sadly they are totally necessary! Thank you!

Painting (Acrylic and Watercolor) Drawing Sketching Envelope Art Artist Trading Cards Personal Letter Writing Various Crafts Hand Stitching Sewing Photography Crochet... And I haven't "managed" them because they are not limited to one box or bag or one project at a time. I simply have too many supplies. I think what I am going to do with my painting supplies is to choose a color palette and stick with only those colors for a while. I do keep my crochet supplies in one bag, so that's a start. I tend to focus on one craft at a time until I can't think of anything else I want to do with it. Then I go on to a different hobby.

Yes I'm ready I've already made the rule that I can't buy anything else until I've used the creative items that I already have. Because I've run out of space and I want to reduce my items for a more clutter free space.

Your video actually deep dives into the practicalities of crafting. I really appreciate that because it seems like every other minimalist just goes oh, just focus on one passion. That. Is. Not. Helpful. Thanks so much for the video!

Thank you for pointing that out, I really appreciate it! I know what it's like to enjoy many passions and why shouldn't we?

Oh my turkeys! Thank you! "...one project at a time...one bag or box for supplies for the project..." Duh. Why did I need you to tell me that instead of just doing it of my own intellect? Obviously I haven't been thinking. I've just been sleepwalking through my life. Thank you! I can't wait to finish decluttering my laundry room to begin on my hobby space!

Great advice as always Mia. Just don’t do what I did - have a friend help with the declutter wave a bunch of ‘old wools’ at me. Let it go I responded enthusiastically. Brilliant - that was until I came to complete a needlework picture I started. Somehow the yarns had come out of the bag and u guessed it - the ones that got thrown away were the ones to complete this project. 🙁. My advice is sort your project stuff quietly on your own so you can concentrate and not make big mistakes.

Oh no! Yeah, that's th he danger of decluttering with others lol. I'm sure she meant well though!

Thank you. I am a crochet’er too and recently adopted this way of managing my craft materials. I like the idea of a box/bag limitation. I used to go to the charity (thrift) shops and buy yarn for projects I hadn’t even thought of yet. Stopped doing this since becoming minimalist.

Love it. It works for me too and it's way more simple

Love all your videos and advice! I've dabbled in ALOT of different creative avenues(watercolors, drawing, crochet and many more. Recently I was going to try out embroidery and I ended up with the supplies but have never used them...still have them...may be time to let go lol 😆

Maybe it's one of those "I'd like to but I'd rather do something else " interests 😉

This is one of my biggest questions! I love trying new creative things and always want every supply for every hobby, but sometimes I lose interest after a month or two. I find that it helps to remind myself of MY reality. I have to slow down and try just a little to make sure I actually commit. Your tips are great!

There is always a point I got anxiety around minimalism. I was doing so well this far, but this video gave me stomac ache halfway through. I just work better with more yarn actually, they inspire me. Also they are handpainted yarns, which I can't get in shops, can't get whenever, and when I need special type/color of yarn for weaving, which I have a close appointment for, it is just really stressful and down right limiting my creativity. With paints it probably could work, but not with yarn and fabric.

Though I am pushing through my anxiety. Your channel is so great, this is the first time I didn't abandon the whole project at the firsts really uncomfortable topic. :)

Pencil case for crochet hooks as you accumulate them.

I am a papermaking and a collage/mixed media artist. I am struggling with overload. Too many materials. Kathy B I have an entire room for my artwork. It is just too crowded with saved materials.

I paint, draw, knit, crochet, colour in and sew a little too & I have stuff for each. I am a recovering hoarder so despite decluttering I still have allot of stuff. My biggest fault is buying in bulk. For example crayons I have to have every type of crayons I can find 🙄. I'm working on my behaviour and I'm going to use up what I have rather than buying any more stuff.
