Thank you so much. The VRR and integer scaling definitely enhanced the gaming experience. Combining with Lossless Scaling Frame Gen... Cyberpunk on medium at 1000p resolution runs smooth at 80fps with hardly noticeable latency now. 😍

Great video! I pre-ordered my V3 and appreciate the level of detail walking through the changes and updates. Interested if you will have a follow up with some of the recommended changes when running linux. That was one of my reasons for purchasing, great performer in Windows and Linux.

Another question: If using the V3 as your main computer - is there any particular setup or important details for a hub/dock? I imagine a proper dock would allow for output to two monitors, keyboard/mouse, etc. If it's used in that way you can just plop it down on a cooling pad as well. Any experience or advice regarding this?

There are quite a few vertical docking solutions out there. Probably the nicest is the Henge/Brydge range but they are Mac specific. The options are either a laptop one with usually USB-C 3.2 connection or a simple vertical mount stand and attach a Thunderbolt hub like the Dell WD22TB4.

Late reply just in case anyone else is finding this video and digging through comments. The USB-C 4.0 ports work with my USB 4.0 Cable Matters hub (Dual HDMI), as well as my Dell WD22TB4 dock connected to a 27" 165Hz 1440p and a 34" 144Hz 1440p. My WD22TB4 is also connected to an older USB 3.1 hub (powered through micro-USB) and between all 7 USB-A ports I have connected 2 mice, 2 keyboards, 1 webcam, 1 headphone DAC/AMP, and 1 USB bluetooth dongle all at the same time with 0 issues. The USB-C 4.0 ports also work normally with the KVM built-in to my Pixio PX277 Pro monitor. Display, ethernet, power delivery, and USB-A (daisy chained into another, powered, USB 3.1 hub) over a single USB-C cable and works as you'd expect. The USB-C VLink input has only worked (for me) with other USB-C devices (E.g., Samsung Dex from phone; Steamdeck; WD22TB4 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 output into the V3). I tried the Cable Matters 'bidirectional' USB-C to DP 1.4 cable from my desktop 4070 FE into the V3's VLink - no success. I tried with, and without, the V3 plugged into external power. I also have their "DP-Monitor" utility installed, which monitors the VLink port and will prompt you to shutdown and switch over when it detects something plugged in. The software utility works with my phone, my TB dock, and my Steamdeck, but it doesn't detect the bidirectional cable. I was reallllly hoping I could use the V3 as an additional wired monitor with my gaming PC so it's not collecting dust on a shelf when I'm at home, but I'll have to find another solution.

@@AlexanderZinzer Hi, just commenting to pass off some information regarding getting an ALT-DP signal out to the V-Link port on this tablet in order to use it as a monitor. Since I've been deep down this rabbit hole for quite a while trying to get some other portable monitors to work for my desktop PC. Bi-directional cables will not work directly from the GPU to the tablet, as you have found. The V-Link port requires some power in order to drive an image on it's display when using as a monitor. I have found a couple of solutions on the Canadian Amazon website that will work with not only the V3's V-Link port, but other portable monitors as well and even AR glasses. My findings are below: 1. Fairikabe - DisplayPort to USB C Cable 4K 60Hz - This cable is probably overkill for getting an image to display on the V3 through V-Link. But the main features are that it has a dedicated USB-C breakout power cable alongside it's Display Port and USB-A data cable. This cable works really well and terminates all 3 connections from the host machine/GPU/Mobo into a single USB-C cable capable of driving an image on a device that requires ALT-DP. I think it's DP 1.2, but it allowed me to utilize some features of my monitors that I would not get if I had just used a regular HDMI/Mini HDMI cable. Like high refresh rates and HDR. This cable is also good for using with AR glasses because of it's dedicated power cable. This is the more expensive option, but does offer more features if you need them. Fairikabe also has an HDMI to USB-C cable that's very similar if you require that. 2. WJESOG - DisplayPort to USB C Cable 4k 60hz - I own a couple of these cables and none of them have disappointed so far. I use them with several devices and displays. They have DisplayPort and USB-A inputs for the host side, where the USB-A cable provides power and data. DisplayPort 1.2. They're a little cheaper than the Fairikabe, but I think that they serve the purpose well of driving a portable display with a USB-C connection. There are other types of HDMI to USB-C conversion boxes from brands like PeakDo and Lemorele, but these are more geared towards the AR glasses market. I have not been able to test these yet. There are other solutions of converting a full DisplayPort signal down to an ALT-DP signal for portable monitors and such. One notable one is the Level1Tech's ALT-DP box that they've been working on. This is more geared towards using with a KVM. Another notable example is the Wacom Link Plus. But good luck finding this. This example was used for a specific drawing tablet, but it had a ton of features and was just a box that you plug your cables into and then plug a USB-C tablet into for video and touch. Other examples are way over priced and usually proprietary VR headset cables. Although they may offer higher spec Display signal tech, they really lack in the flexibility department. I wouldn't waste my time with them, unless you already have one handy. After all of this, when you get the V3's V-Link display working, you might want to use the tool Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) to increase the refresh rate of the display. It's locked at 60hz out of the box. But I've been able to push it to 120hz with CRU (haven't tried higher since). I hope you find this helpful. Cheers.

@Coreygunz2527 ай бұрын
@@johnnyw230 Yes. It took them over a month and a half to seed a replacement unit. Then I opened the box a week ago there wasn’t even a keyboard. So just the table and screen protector. FYI you cannot use this device without the keyboard/stand it gets way too hot. When I reached out to them to let them know, they forgot the keyboard. They literally told me it would take a while until they investigated what happened. I had to wait three days for response email. So I gave them a choice 48 hours or send me a return label for a refund. I had to let them know. I was very dissatisfied with their service. finally, I received a confirmation email saying the keyboard is on the way. I don’t think I’ll be buying from them ever again. This was horrible to deal with. I tried writing a review but it doesn’t show on there site. So good luck if you want to do business with them that’s totally up you. Sorry this was so long.

Asking here: Anyone have a V3 and able to run the FFXIV: Dawntrail benchmark on it? I'm fairly certain it should run fairly well, but since there is a graphical update, I want to see how the V3 does with it.
@AlexanderZinzer7 ай бұрын
Received my (32 GB) V3 yesterday. Followed the steps in this guide, except I modified the V3 Adj script to 45W (instead of the 37W). I left the FFXIV: Dawntrail benchmark on default settings (high desktop), except I changed the resolution to full screen 1280x800 because I like integer scaling (used to it from my Steamdeck). I don't play FFXIV so no clue what 'good' is, but here you go: Total Loading Time: 17.437 sec. Score 6361. Performance: Fairly High.
@AlexanderZinzer7 ай бұрын
Repeating the benchmark, but changing "high desktop" to "high laptop" results in the following: Total Loading Time: 14.674 sec. Score 7739. Performance: Fairly High.
@AlexanderZinzer7 ай бұрын
Lastly for ya, keeping "high laptop" defaults but changing resolution to native 2560x1600: Total Loading Time: 20.707 Score 4068. Performance: Standard This is the only one of the three that had noticeable screen tearing and (I think) dynamic resolution to try and keep 60 FPS. If it was dynamic resolution idk what it was, but it didn't look consistent throughout.
