Vikings got a legit shutdown CB with McGlothern..and a badass edge in Gabe Murphy...and a badass tackling machine in Dallas Gant. He is the #3 LB in this draft..shoulda been drafted. These 3 will play during the season. They'll make the team for sure...being UDFAs.

Bo Richter Profile (you’re going to love him). Background: He played in college for all 4 years. His first 3 years he was a safety but got buried on the depth chart. His 4th year, the coaches moved him to edge in multiple fronts. He can play both inside as a 3T and 5T/outside as a stand up and given his speed and agility, he can also play off ball. In his FIRST and ONLY season as an edge guy, he recorded 10 sacks and 19 TFLs. Strengths/abilities: He can equally speed rush and bull rush. Can engage with a blocker while making a tackle. And he can defeat double teams with his combined athleticism and strength. His growth at safety the first 3 seasons gives him the ability to play in coverage better than most edge guys. Measurables: He is 6’ 2” 250 lb. Among edge guys, Top 40 time. Top bench press. Top 3 in agility drills. 9.94 RAS (25/2996 prospects). Analysis: Top 3 pash rushing grade in CFB last year per PFF, a 92.5. Conclusion: He made a late surge on the consensus boards, went from top 800 to top 350 on consensus. Many people did not know about him due to his limited experience on edge and playing time in college prior to senior year. His ceiling is sky high given his natural speed, size, and strength. He must be on the 53, I worry a team will steal him for a practice squad spot.

First, totally jacked about the draft. The Vikings haven't taken a "top" QB prospect since Culpepper. They haven't taken a top EDGE in the first round in 20+ years either. Time will tell if we have the right guys, but for now they added 2 elite prospects at high value positions. They haven't gotten 2 star players in a single draft since 2015 (Kendricks, Hunter, Diggs). Well, except for maybe last year with Addison and Pace. Any other starters (other than K) to come out of the draft will simply be a bonus. As for next year's picks that were traded away, here is my reckless speculation: The Vikings could be sellers at the trade deadline. If Darnold plays well enough, but JJ is ready to start by game 7-8, Darnold can be traded to whoever needs a QB. If Turner and Gabriel Murphy work out, Van Ginkel could be a nice trade chip. Add 1-2 comp picks and maybe a bonus for ATL tampering and the Vikings could go into the next draft with 5-6 picks. Even without the picks, I think Kwesi looks at the draft a bit like the Rams. F those picks. Get the top guys you want. Build up cap space and get free agents for the rest--known entities, not lotto tickets. I think he wants the premium picks (first round) to add starters. After that, it doesn't appear to me that he views later rounds much different from UDFA signings.

Christian Mahogany now with the Lions would have been good in the 6th round he will remind the Vikings twice a year that they should have taken him. Brandon Dorlus in the 4th round would have fit a positional need, to get a guy with a chance to get on the field early rather than corner that isn't as big of a need. When Kwesi gave away all their day three picks he destroyed any chance to try and create competition on the offensive and defensive lines

Glad to get QB5 and Turner but surprised he took the 3rd best kicker when 1 and 2 were still on the board. Jackson fell to 4th round because although he is a real hitter he had trouble wrapping up and tackling in college. Pretty good draft but tempered by the fact that Kwesi gave up a 2nd, 3rd and 4th next year. Go Vikes!
