Nice job. Ive been watching all these videos using foam canons and pressure washers which are over kill and not necessary. I like to soap then rinse in sections rather then soaping the whole car. Soap dries up too quickly. Start with rinsing entire car then soap and rinse in sections from top to bottom. Yes I agree with doing wheels and tires first. I also keep rinsing over prior washed sections so car is not drying while washing other sections. No need for pressure washers for cars unless you own a car wash.

Hi Phil, great video & new subscriber. My current routine is 1 Hose rinse 2 Wash with ZipWax 3 Rinse 4 Apply TW Wax & Dry spray wax as drying aid & to prevent hard water spotting. Would immediately applying another spray wax such as TW Hard Shell spray wax be beneficial or would it smear?
@MirandaDetailing3 ай бұрын
Hi. Sounds a good process. You can certainly add another layer of protection like that if you want. Smearing can happen with pretty much any spray sealant product if over applied or in direct sun or heat and humidity. Just apply a light layer. If you do get smearing it’s ok, just use a damp towel to wipe the panel and then a dry one immediately after.

Thank you for your tutorial. It's been very helpful. I have noticed that my brakes squeak after washing my car. My hubcaps have very large holes in them and the foam cleaner gets onto the metal disk behind the hubcaps. Is that bad? Am I washing off some sort of lubricant that should stay on that metal disk?
@MirandaDetailingАй бұрын
Hi. Do they squeak after it's sat a while after washing? If so, it's just a light build-up of rust on the brake rotors, that's normal. Right after the wash, just drive the car for a few hundred feet or so and press on the brake pedal to dry the rotors. then they shouldn't squeak after sitting for a while.

Hi. Not at all. Pressure washers are used by pro Detailers because it’s fast and efficient, you can do a lot with one if used correctly. Using a garden hose is fine, it just takes longer in my opinion and uses more water.

Great videos. For anyone who wants to be a bitefficient at Home and extra cheap, this is what I do. I get a spray bottle and I fill it 1:10 with my fav soap and water. I than keep the hose in my hand. After I pre hose the car, or foam or whatever, i spray my mitt or pad with the solution, than wet it and clean a panel. Once clean I spray the panel down and than hose down my pad to clean it, I than squirt a couple of pumps and than repeat cleaning each panel, hose down and hose down the mitt. Than when done I flood the panels and dry with a drying aid. I find it cleans the pad better than a bucket of water. That's just me. If I want to take my time I do one bucket with multiple towels or Mitts. But that's more expensive

Hey Phil. I watch your videos daily, including your reruns. I love your detail work and great advice. But I have a question to ask. Or maybe you can give me some sound advice. The issue that I don’t clean is my cars “Seat Belts”. Can you help me out?
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Hi seat belts are the worst. I have tried so many ways of cleaning them and there is simply no way to get nasty seatbelts completely clean. Unfortunately if they are really bad you can try steaming them and using a strong cleaner on them but I have read before that if cleaned to aggressively it will compromise the safety fabric and that could be a major liability. I always tread carefully and don’t try to shoot for perfection on seatbelts.

What is the best car wax to wax a whole white car? I saw on your KZbin waxing little spots and I want to wax the whole car. I have a 2021 white Subaru Foresters.
@MirandaDetailing Жыл бұрын
Hi. so with many different waxes and sealants there are no best options, just different options. you can choice a liquid wax that you have to apply by hand or with a DA Polisher. Or a spray sealant is easier to apply. Which video did you watch where we waxed? Usually I just demonstrate how to apply waxes and sealants on certain sections of the vehicle...bascially just repeat that process over the entire vehicle.
@zowenso Жыл бұрын
Can I ask your opinion on wheel cleaners that say not to pre rinse, like Meguires ultimate wheel cleaner. Wouldn’t you run the risk of scratching the wheels with debris when using the wheel brush if you don’t pre rinse off dirt and debris etc? I picked some up and as I thought about it I wondered about scratching the wheels up. Thanks.
@MirandaDetailing Жыл бұрын
Hi. We always rinse first to make sure to remove the majority of dirt and brake dust. I understand that they want the full power of the cleaner on them, but usually that’s not needed.
@zowenso Жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing Ah ok, so it’s ok to pre rinse, it just weakens the cleaner a bit. Awesome. Once again, thank you!!

Phil, I really want to take care of my car myself as much as possible, but I live on Miami Beach where there are regulations against washing cars. We are not allowed to use water. However, I have always used Optimum No Rinse (ONR) in the parking garage in my parking space and it seems to always work fine. Periodically, I take it to a car wash just to get the car washed. I don't know if it makes any difference. Can you do a video that would help those of us in these conditions where we don't have the freedom to wash a car with water?
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Aw man that's stinks! Is the regulations against using water from the hose from your house and because of run off, or another reason?
@deanbush3 жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing wow! That's a fast reply! The reason for the regulation is to prevent run off. Biscayne Bay in Miami is now considered to be a dead bay; most of the fish and wildlife in the bay have died. It's a very serious issue here. Even most large hotels have their own water purification systems underground even though we are at three feet above sea level. After writing my initial comment here, I found your video which I'm watching right now on waterless wash. The idea of waterless wash doesn't really appeal to me for my car. I prefer the old fashioned ways. I forgot to mention that I also live on the 12th floor of a condominium high rise building.
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
😁 oh ok. That's stinks! Well I was going to mention using a cordless pressure washer like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3WzYp6wpb54opo or kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZS5nnqAlpiDjtU But you still get a little run off. But it's only about 5 gallons. But that still may not work for you right?
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
You can also use the cordless pressure washer option and use ONR mixed to 5 gallons and use that.
@deanbush3 жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing Thank you, Phil! Yes, I think this could work out! Some public parking garages and lots do have proper drains where I've seen mobile car washers cleaning cars for car rental companies and for people parking in the garage. This is also reasonably priced cordless equipment. I'll give this a go, and if I get busted by security, I'll see if I can schmooze 'em into letting me do my own instead of using the mobile washers they allow.

I am not a professional but have been detailing my and friends cars for many years. There is just no way I can understand people thinking that their washing mitts get clean putting them back in the wash bucket with a grit guard. No way it gets clean!
@MirandaDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Hi. That’s why our pre wash/APC rinse method is the most important part of the process. That’s what does the major cleaning. That way the foam and contact wash is not really picking up heavy grit or dirt at all. The mitt stays cleaner and it only takes a dunk and rinse in the bucket to flush it. There is no heavy dirt or grit in the mitt of rinse bucket at the end.
