I’m very impressed and happy with this years Miss America Pageant. It definitely improved from the previous years. I didn’t realize that the organization has a new CEO, which I now understand why things gotten better. I hope they bring the pageant back to Atlantic City in the future.

Yes, new CEO is Robin Flemming. She's the former Miss Florida USA director.

I love how there were ONLY Top 11 but all of them compete in ALL of the 4 portions!!!! This is what pageant is which is we should see More of the Ladies themselves, the more competitions the merrier. Love love this edition! I hope MAO will never change the cut formats.

I love seeing more of them too!

Maybe this was a plus points because they don’t need to be restricted by the limited time when it aired on television. But Miss America 2025 will be the 70th anniversary of the pageant airing on television, so hopefully they will find a way to air on TV again and invite Lee Merriweather for the milestone.

I'm glad that the pageant fans won! We finally have Miss America back to how it should be, although we may not get the swimsuit back. I hope that they will improve next year in terms of production and have a television channel televised Miss America. I'm looking forward to this pageant in the long run.

As someone who competed in MAO/Teen before 2.0 and during 2.0 (and even now), I’m happy with the direction that Robin is taking Miss America and the Teen! Not in relation to Miss America, but Dani talking about how she never thought she’d be able to do USA is exactly how I felt for the longest time so it was nice hearing that someone else felt that way too.

Wow..,so much to unpack! I’m so glad that Miss America is back where it should be. A few tweaks next year and it will be cooking full steam! Every time I watch a pageant and I hear the interview portion, I think “what would Dani say?”. I did agree with your comments on the Q & A. Glad Miss Puerto Rico will be back next year. Personally I felt like Miss New York, Miss Maryland and Miss Florida should have been top 5, but I get it. Vanessa Williams will always be my all time favorite! Overall, great comeback Miss America!

OMG Dani!!!! That was the first time I heard you sing and you have an AWESOME singing voice. You raised my eyebrows!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! Just curious, I know that Miss USA initially started when Miss America 1951 refused to be photographed in her Catalina (sponsor of the pageant) swimsuit and they pulled out from Miss America and created Miss USA, but do you think that maybe once again that Miss USA should have taken some notes from what Robin did to re-vamp the pageant and bring it back to what it was when I would watch it with my mother growing up. Still say, best on stage talent would be Miss New York 1984 Vanessa Williams doing "Happy Days Are Here Again." As Julia Sugarbaker would have said ... "Vanessa was not just any Miss America, she WAS THE MISS AMERICA!"
@DaniWalker7 ай бұрын
Oh thank you! I do sing :) I sing here and there in episodes. We'll see if they do take any notes. New USA director held her pageant before MAO, so there's time. I've never seen her talent, I need to watch it. She's certainly a memorable one. Still so beautiful!
@frederickseltzerjr21707 ай бұрын
@DaniWalker it's on you tube. Type Vanessa Williams Happy Days Are Here Again. I remember both my mom and myself (I was 12 years old) after hearing that with her beauty, said that she would be the first woman of color to win. And ironically the first runner up that took over the crown when she was forced to resign, was another woman of color, Miss New Jersey and her singing talent was also impeccable. She was the first semifinalist and Vanessa was the last at 10th.

As a winner of scholarship pageant, I always love Miss America lil bit more than Miss USA for their emphasis on intelligence. I will not win classic beauty male pageant. Unfortunately, I am not tall. But, I still won my scholarship pageant because I prepaered, practiced, amd improved my public speaking skills and community project. Though, I admit that Miss USA has ( or "had") better productions.

Went straight to watch Miss America after this and they’re definitely headed into the right direction. That said. Talent portion. I think it’s best to pick a number that really highlights your talents, training level, and the genre within your niche. Miss Florida’s La Traviata number… whether you speak Italian fluently or worse, a classical singer, you would know that’s not her singing background. She made up Italian text and or the text period, pretty much the entirety of the operatic Aria. There’s not enough nerves to just make that entire song up if you’re a classically trained opera singer, ever 😶. I’m sure she has a lovely voice and I wish she would have picked something suitable and organic to what she can do….

The hosts were a minor annoyance, but these contestants? Amazing. - Colorado is a stellar winner in every way (personality, speaking, looks) and I liked that she didn't look overly made up or too casual. - In the final five I was impressed the most with Indiana, she seemed like a lot of fun, and clearly she was since she landed Miss Congeniality. -I was also super impressed by Maryland (whose face and hair look eerily similar to the late great Cheslie Kryst) and Texas (she looked like a biracial Scarlett Johansson, anyone?) - Florida looked like she'd do really well at Miss Universe as Miss USA (if that ever happens...) - Ironic that Rebecca King, the last Miss Colorado to become Miss America (in 1974) was in attendance! She was probably thrilled with the outcome. - Also...I just looked it up and ALL THREE previous Miss Americas from Colorado are still alive! Sharon Ritchie (1956) and Marilyn Vanderbur (1958) are in their late 80s. I hope they were able to watch from home; Marilyn Vanderbur is 86, and Sharon Ritchie turned 87 two days before the pageant!

@@DaniWalker thanks for the reply :) hope you're having a happy day. Also - I was not impressed with the musical entertainment. Here's an idea - why don't they either have: a) the non-finalist talent winners perform (because clearly they have what it takes in that area, it would be a chance for them to shine, it would be 0 stakes, and it would fill time better than weird host banter with random audience members or asking everyone constantly to scream their favorite state), or... b) create a unique number with all 51 contestants incorporating their talents? The singers could harmonize, Pitch Perfect style; the dancers could do some kind of fusion routine with different styles; the instrumentalists could accompany them; and the contestants/staff would find a way to incorporate the miscellaneous talents somewhere in there. What do you think?

I understand why Miss America hasn't accepted married women, mothers and above 28 unlike Miss USA because winning Miss America or even a state title has full of responsibilities especially Miss America where she tour across the states and visiting several countries during her reign.

I watched the show after the fact but I thought it was ok. There were a lot of technical issues. The lighting and sound could have been much better. During Arkansas’ talent portion the music was so low I could barely hear it. She handled it so well. I related to Miss Colorado as have served in the military and losing my mother to Pancreatic cancer. It is such a horrible disease. I’m not familiar with the hosts but the woman was annoying by messing with her dress so much. At one point she flashed the top of her thigh highs which I felt was inappropriate. Miss Kentucky was gorgeous. She should definitely go the Miss USA direction. Even her gown looked Miss USAish. But, I’m definitely not an expert on pageants. I was in two small local ones and hated it because of the “mean girls”. I love watching them though. Thanks for your recap. Beautiful as always.
