Poor Noelia. She worked so hard for so many years to achieve her dream only for it to be a nightmare. It’s sad how low the Miss USA and Miss Universe organization and brand has gotten.

Reminder to Noelia and anyone/everyone else that NDAs cannot legally cover illegal activity. If you believe that an organization that made you sign an NDA has broken the law, you are within your full legal rights to speak out. They cannot sue you for that. Check with a lawyer first and then stand up for yourself ♥️ (Just a PSA - not sure if this would help Noelia’s situation or not but it’s still good for everyone to know!)

@@gladitsnotme if they tried that, you can get them back easily with it being a slap suit so any good pro bono lawyer would take the case for you. The law is pretty clear on this one. Plus, a couple of TikTok posts and public outrage would probably get them to drop it pretty quickly anyways

Everything that happened with Miss USA recently truly upsets me. It's so hard to support Miss Universe and Miss USA nowadays with self-centered and narcissistic leadership. Both of these organizations need new people who won't bring this organization into a pile of trash and shame. I'm with Noela. Although she resigned from her title, she remained the most bravest Miss USA.

The entire situation is so shocking. Never did i expect that Noelia would resign because its clearly evident that she worked hard for 7 years to acquire the title of Miss USA which she said has been her dream since childhood. Something must have happened for her to give up the title and the Miss USA organization keeps getting worse by the day. I think someone should acquire the license of Miss USA, Teen USA and Universe because Anne JKN is the worst owner that the organizations have ever had ever since this all started. The state national directors should come together to condemn this because the Miss USA has reached the peak of its downfall. Hope Noelia amd UmaSofia are ok.

Amen. If you ever think for a moment "hmm do I need a lawyer," you probably need a lawyer. Even if you can't afford personal representation you should consult a lawyer any time you sign a contract. Traps can be hidden in plain sight between the lines of legalese and contracts are never designed to be in your favor.

In 1990, the tv show 48 Hours did an episode on pageantry. They focused on Miss USA. Miss USA 1989, Gretchen Polhemus, spoke about her reign as Miss USA. They asked her if she had it to do all over again would she. She responded with Miss Texas yes, Miss USA no. Carole Gist(1990) sued the pageant before her year ended. Gretchen filed suit with the same attorney. Courtney Gibbs(1988) later filed suit as well. Christy Fichtner (1986) came out and complained about her treatment as Miss USA. This is nothing new. When management changed things got better. Miss USA has changed so much over the years as well. Miss USA for the longest time was about representing the pageants’ corporate sponsors (who are no longer with the pageant). She was a corporate spokesperson. Miss America was the pageant with the platform, not Miss USA. Miss USA adopted a pageant platform after they had lost all of their sponsors. Sad to say, that those of us who have followed the pageant for years, before most of you were even born, the pageant has lost its luster. The pageant that we see now is not the pageant that we used to see. Sad to say, but it’s only going to get worse.

I agree. Both MAO and MU lost theirs when they didn’t evolve to sharing the girls stories in a miniseries/reality show, and tried to stay a one and done show annually. Even the NFL has 14 games a week leading up to the Super Bowl! They lost their luster by trying to change the girls instead of letting the world fall in love with them!

Their situations were a lot different. Miss USA was in demand. There were so many official appearances they had to go to that they felt they were not being adequately and fairly financially compensated. Noelia’s case was almost like a case of neglect and the director felt SHE was the star front and center, not the titleholder.

@@PungiFungi actually it was about being overworked! From 1983/1984 to 1991, Miss Universe Inc had a contract with JCPenney for a licensing deal. They had a Miss USA Collection. Swimwear, dresses and suits. Miss USA spent 100 days of her reign traveling to JCPenney stores across the country. She hit almost every state. Gretchen’s schedule showed 16 towns in 14 days with one day off. That’s where the complaints came in . Carole Gist (1990) said that she only spent 28 days out of her 11 month reign at the Los Angeles apartment shared with Miss Universe. Christy (1986) complained because her reign was only 9 months long, but she still had her 100 days of JCPenney appearances to squeeze in on top of everything else that Miss USA had to do. Back then there was a department to schedule appearances. Later, it came down to contacting Esther who was handling it by herself. The sponsors have now all disappeared leaving her with fill in and patchwork appearances.

When i competed for Miss World America, we were all given a copy of the contract we would sign if we were to win the title at the beginning of the competition. So that helped us all go through the contract and ask questions or decide to step away if it wasn't something we were up for. Also, it seems like there's some jealousy or envy from Laylah, almost as though she wished she were Miss USA. Which is so sad because that has limited the capacity of our title holders and their ability to shine. She really needs to work on her self-esteem, but i think we need new management if things don't change. I'm also observing from far as i was making plans to participate next year.

Pageant contestants face amped up anxiety and pressures that most people their age never face and, quite frankly, will never understand. I would love to see a world where Miss America/Miss USA and their teen counterparts do a daily check in with a licensed therapist. It should be part of the "prize package." One thing many do not understand is that she was in Miss USA system for 7 years, its not like the stress and pressure of a titleholder was anything new. For some title holders it just comes by surprise and they just do not feel it, but she was tough tough cookie. She was living for it, she prepped 8 years for it. Its not “noone wants to work anymore” it really had to be bloody horrid she had to go through and not even just absuse but neglect of basics as Miss USA is entitled to. Just the rewards of the winning title were all declined to her. But the saddest part is that most people do not have financial and mental means to fight the beast. In todays society you can be sued by minor mistake in wording and most people just are afraid of the financial burden they cannot bare to fight even random legal affairs. Its not abt going to court even, the suing is made so easy that just many are aware of it. Thats why people rely on you because you know how to speak about eloquently enough to avoid all that.

My wonderful Dani...You are so well spoken. I have 3 words for you (after watching your excellent video this morning): FOLLOW THE MONEY. In my humble opinion, the only way the organization can be brought to their knees in the final analysis, to make substantial change from the inside out, is to confront the money trail donors , corporate bigwigs or whomever fund the paychecks of those in power who are abusing the system as you so well described. Case in point: An example of this: The protests on campuses wherein UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS would not do anything to circumvent the heightening hate speech and escalating discord from a few months ago... even as some college presidents were BEING grilled in front of Congress a few months back, these people in power did nothing..said nothing... MADE ALL KINDS OF EXCUSES......that is, until the DONORS pulled out. All of a sudden, WHEN THE MONEY STOPPED funding the university from the major donors... then some university presidents were forced to RESIGN. It happened in a flash. Everything resolved itself. They removed the "cancer" of bad leadership from the very top. New leadership emerged. You are very brave to keep up the good flight.

You make a great point: Is the Miss USA title worth your mental health? Someone stepping up to take the crown the remaining two months wouldn't erase the toxic situation Noelia and others bravely exposed. Some "career pageant" girl will take the title, believing they're the exception, but the problems will remain. Until there's a change at the top, mental health will be a major concern for future Miss USAs.

Hi Dani 👋, I personally find it impressive that some people were able to decipher Noelia’s cryptic message in her statement. I have to admit that when I first saw her post, I didn’t notice her hidden message until I saw a couple of IG stories including yours (if I recall correctly). Some people may think I sound ridiculous for what I’m about to say next (and honestly, I don’t blame them if they do). But this is just my speculation ONLY. I think that given the fact that Noelia’s post came with the hidden message “I AM SILENCED”, that to me suggests that although she made the decision to resign as Miss USA 2023 for the sake of her mental health, it felt as if it happened on the terms of the Miss USA organization rather than that of her own. In other words, it’s possible that the Miss USA organization may have decided to end Noelia’s reign for her instead of actually letting Noelia decide that for herself, which (I think) could’ve been the final straw for her mental health. After everything Noelia must’ve went through during her reign, I can only hope that she is doing okay in ALL aspects of her well-being whether or not she is well aware that the vast majority of the pageant community has heard her loud and clear. Sending you lots of love!!! ❤️❤️❤️🫶

Thank you so much for sharing this information, and for also sharing your insight with us so often; not just in this topic, but on all things pageantry related. Your take on things happening within the MUO is hard earned, and comes from seeing things up close, and having had enough experience to recognize what is going on. I really respect how supportive you are towards the titleholders and contestants, and how kind you are in your criticisms/recommendations. What a shame that our Miss USA had to experience such nonsense once she finally reached her goals, it’s very sad to see her walk away from something that she worked so hard for. So very discouraging, and I hope she gets the support she needs to get through this to the other side. One last thing Dani…I always leave your posts saying one thing: that there are SO many titleholders out there who never get to the big crown, Miss USA, Miss America or whatever the title, but who prove daily why they deserved their state title, far beyond the sparkle of that crown. You are a real example of the benefits these programs can produce…a strong, articulate woman with opinions, who isn’t fearful to share them. You are appreciated, and a great example of what positivity pageantry can bring to one’s life.

Dani, I may sound a little too out of the box here, but maybe it's time for State Directors to make a stand as well with all the things happening at Miss USA. Maybe they should boycott this year. MUO will take notice, I'm sure.
@jkvarner
@jkvarner 4 ай бұрын
I know state directors and I couldn’t agree more. I most recently worked with RPM. They actually managed Morgan Romano’s year as Miss USA because there was no national director. They are a class act. They would absolutely return this org to the grandeur of its past. But honestly, who wants to work with Kuhn Anne? MUO feels equally batshit right now.

Dani, the first-runner up Savannah, Miss Hawaii is a former client of mine. I don’t disagree with you. But I don’t think it’s a bad thing for Savannah to be listed in history as a former miss USA. I’m not sure if I can endorse the thought of her, not taking that opportunity. But I definitely see your point.

Totally get your point and I agree, it can look great on a resume. But in the current context who ever takes it, if anyone, is going to take a lot of heat and lose the respect of the general pageant community. Even the best intentions won't shield someone from the public's reaction.

Man I’ve been out of the pageant game for so many years and this is just heartbreaking to hear about. This LR lady seems like a narcissistic bully. This video was so well done. I hope the 2023 class stands together and lets the organization go without a titleholder for the next two months to send a message and to support Noelia.

It will be interesting to see if they can even get a Miss USA competition off the ground this year. I agree that the Kentucky Derby was a perfect event for Miss USA to attend. Even though it's an American event, it would have also been an ideal venue for Miss Universe to appear but I believe Anne has Sheynnis under lock and key somewhere in Thailand. That in itself is a whole 'nother story. I'll be following this whole thing very carefully. I hate sitting on the sidelines and wish there was some way I could help.

Litigation is not for everybody. Lawyers can bend facts in so many directions. She is already weak mentally with this ordeal. What she needs is love and support. I hope she can go home, eat her mom's food, and tune out everything else. I also hope she gets specialist help to learn how to heal from the ordeal. Litigation would be a drawn out process with so much pressure that could literally kill her. She would have been better off completing the last two months and save herself the aggravation of so many assumptions being made against her. If she quit now it is because she can't take it anymore and needed a radical change to survive.

Noelia delivered a valiant job, as 2023 Miss USA, in bringing critical awareness to a leadership problem that appears to be causing turmoil in the operations of the organization.. Noelia is irreplaceable. Noelia’s VOICE & LEADERSHIP in this battle need to be supported and upheld. She joins the group of global leaders whose voice is tackling the world’s many many critical issues, large and small, from environmental to political, from mental health to hunger, and so on. More power to Noelia. Thank you Dani, for being Noelia’s voice as well.

Sometimes it’s easy said than done. But if anyone is going through some mental health issues, reach out to any one you trust and talk about it. If someone reaches out to you, please listen to what that person says.

First of all, thank you so much for your promptness on this topic. Two well thought out and executed videos with difficult subject matter to navigate in no time flat. You go girl. Thank GOD Noelia has you to raise awareness and truly, you're doing a service to all interested in competing in the future. I can't believe how devastating this whole scenario is. I can't imagine how it feels to dedicate your youth/young adulthood to an organization who turns around and betrays you. It seems Miss USA and Miss Universe have both lost their way. Praying for Noelia and Uma. That they get their lives back and can unburden themselves from this mess quickly. Do you think there's any chance Noelia will be able to speak out in the future? Or are these NDAs a lifetime contract. Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks Dani

Additionally, I could be wrong, but I feel like the Kentucky Derby backlash she got from management (aka Laylah Rose) was likely insane. Which possibly was her last straw. Because heaven forbid Noelia take initiative as an empowered woman to represent herself as Miss USA. *extreme eye roll*. She was put in an invisible prison and I'm so glad she escaped.
