Missildine Online! My daughter, when you were born the very oceans of azeroth roared the name...Jaina. I watched with discontent as you grew into an instrument of passiveness. Remember, our line has always ruled with strength and justice and i know you will break your chains when exercising your great vengeance. But the truest victory, my daughter, is embracing your heritage. I tell you this for when the ferryman comes, you shall be Queen.

BTW her dad did say in WC3 that peace is a beautiful but untainable. Tbh u also gotta see her fathers views he fought vs the orcs since 2 war and lost his firstborn son to them. So in his eyes the orcs are only savages that want to conquer and kill others. And after he went after Jaina he found her on the shore with Orcs,so he thought she was being manipulated :). Sor for the long msg, Love ur vids,keep it up :)

Admiral Proudmoore: "You have always been naive, my daughter. You aren't old enough to remember what these monsters did to our homeland. The orcs and their kin cannot be trusted. They must be exterminated like the mongrels they are!" Jaina: "I won't let you do it, father. You don't understand!" Admiral Proudmoore: "I understand more than you suspect, my dear. Perhaps in time, you will too." A storyline 15 years in the making.

Admiral Proudmoore originally DID sail west to "save" Jaina. He heard about the Scourge and the fall of Lordaeron and immediately went looking for her, and followed when he found out she went to Kalimdor. Its not until he gets to Kalimdor and sees the Horde that he decides to kill them all. If you go replay the Frozen Throne campaign, the first thing he says to her is how happy to see she's alive--- And then see she's standing next to Rexxar. And while Admiral Proudmoore, objectively, was a dick and wanted to kill the Orcs, his death really did throw the entirety of Kul Tiras into chaos and the wolves descend and nearly rip it apart from within. Makes sense the citizenry would write such a damning song about her.

Daelin Proudmoore was also one of the characters of "Warcraft 2:Tides of Darkness" . Despite the fact that he took a radical position with respect to the Horde, he can not be called villain. Like many other veterans of the First or Second war, he did not believe in correcting the orcs and peace with them. For example, now in the Alliance there is another veteran of the Second War, occupying a similar position in relation to the Horde-Greymane.

20 years later, you gotta look back and admit that Daelin was right. Look at the Horde now. Especially from Jaina's perspective. It must be painful to her to betray her own father in favor of the Horde, only for that same Horde to screw her over and over again. The Horde betrayed the trust and faith Jaina had put into them. She paid a very high price for a chance at peace with the Horde by betraying her father. And it did not pay off.
@Auriansmule

That's the thing with the Horde and Alliance. There are no real villains. Just people on opposite sides of a conflict.
@CrestOfArtorias
@CrestOfArtorias 6 жыл бұрын
You would only call him a villain if you believed that the Horde is redeemable. That is because you have knowledge he did not and because you do not carry the emotional baggage of lost comrades and a lost son in a war started by them. Yes, we know that they were under the influence of demonic possession and we know its true cause we saw it. He did not, he had no way of knowing whether these claims were truthful or merely a means to deflect rightous punishment. He did what he believed to be the only way to protect his people and history would make his claim a truth. The horde, time and time again showed that they are unreliable at best, out right dangerous at worst. Jaina, after investing so much, sacrificing so much and being disappointed, again and again, finally sees the truth in her father's words. A men who had experienced war and understood it far deeper than she did, the price of her understanding war grave and her wrath will be all the greater because of it.

The ghost figure was the "ferryman" from ancient lore. Thing is, you need to pay the ferryman. This is why people were buried with coins on their eyes or mouth. She pays with the anchor symbol, which is the Kul Tiras sigil, but also the Theramore sigil. She's returning to her roots by returning her father's sigil to him, but she's also literally paying the ferryman with Theramore. But she's not being ferried to Hel/Hades, she's being ferried by her father to his ship. The destruction of Theramore was the price she paid to be able to listen to her father's words. The symbolism in this is beyond.

When you think about it, mages can both make portals, control the elements to some extent and slow someone's gravitational pull ("Slow Fall"). It wouldn't be that far a stretch to have a mage lift an object (in this case a huge frickin ship - but she is a very powerful mage so yeah why not) -Think Water-bending or Telekinesis

The video is just haunting beautiful. I also love a nugget that Taliesin and Evitel mentions. How she doesn't pay the mythical Ferryman with coin, but rather a necklace that could symbolize that she pays with Theramore itself. The ghastly Daelin then wears the necklace before setting his daugther on the "right path", as to him, the necklace means home, with it also being the symbol of Kul Tiras, then departs.

How the story of Proudmoore vs Rexxar & Thrall really was: *1 to 1 transcript of ingame scenes of Warcraft 3 Orc Campaign:* *Warning, especially for Horde players: only read if you can handle with provocant statements* Oh the sweet bitter taste of Irony for Jaina.. -------------------------------------- Before siege of Theramore: Jaina: Thrall, Rexxar, I come in peace. Thrall: Your father *threatens the security of our nation* and the very future of my people. You know how this has to end. (So by Thralls definition, Sylvanas kinda threatens the security of Gilnes AND every single Night Elve on Kalimdor, including Teldrassil. How does this have to end in his opinion?) Jaina: I know, Thrall. Do what you must. There is a goblin shipyard that could provide you with warships of your own. With those, you could scatter the blockade surrounding Theramore. Jaina: *But please, spare my men if you can. They are the only real family I'll have left when this is over.* Please do this... for me. Thrall: *We'll do all we can, Jaina. You have my word.* (to quote Taran Zhu: You trusted the Horde over everything in the world. Valued them over your fathers life. Citizens of Theramore, where are you... now?) -------------------------------------- During Siege of Theramore: Thrall: You've done well, Rexxar. You're a natural leader. *You remind me of Hellscream*, in a way. (what would Garrosh say about this during his personal Siege of Theramore..) Daelin Proudmoore: *I thought you savages would have turned on each other by now.* Thrall: This is not the Horde you remember, old man. *We have no interest in conquest or murder.* (hmm... Southshore, Gilneas, Ashenvale, Lor'danel, Darkshore, Teldrassil) Daelin Proudmoore: Can your blood atone for genocide, orc? Your Horde killed countless innocents with its rampage across Stormwind and Lordaeron. No, your kind will never change. -------------------------------------- After Siege of Theramore: Thrall: We will leave your isle in peace, Jaina. I pray we never have to come here again. Farewell, sorceress. (bet Thrall as world shaman is still no priest in the end, cause his pray.. naah we all know HOW this went out.) -------------------------------------- [we all know Blizz stated gameplay > lore. So the conflict between the Horde and Alliance will never end. Lets discuss about ingame lore and character we do care about. But don't forget it's only a game:) ] Oh the bittersweet taste of irony for Jaina.. *Beware, beware, the daughter of the sea.* *She is coming for you.*

The Horde murdered Daelin Proodmoore's son and destroyed many of his people. Admiral Proudmoore saw the atrocities which the Horde inflicted to Stormwind (Warcraft 1), Southshore/ Lordaeron(Warcraft 2), and the Eastern Kingdoms. He watched in horror at the brutality and depravity of the Horde. Orcs allied with trolls and ogres murdered their way across the continent. He then saw them on Kalimdor. To him, these were the same aliens who descended upon his people with genocide. He loathed the Horde and could only see the orcs as animals stained in his son's blood. Then before him at the first battle for Theramore he witnessed his daughter, his blood, his baby girl stand aside as the Horde convinced her with lies of peace. He warned her. Begged HER! He pleaded her to stand with him. Rexxar then plunged his axes and butchered the Admiral in the most brutal of acts. As he died, gushing blood from his wounds he cried, "You'll (Jaina) regret this....Beware, Beware the daughter of the sea." Imagine being Jaina and watching the life from your father drain upon the grounds of Theramore whom the Horde promise never to lay siege again.... Remember Theramore and the cratered ruins of the city the Horde destroyed. The city Jaina partook in patricide to protect. Now she rides her father's flagship in memory and vengeance against the Horde.

No I don't think so, from what I know the admiral had no idea that a new horde was being established in Kalimdor. He said in the Warcraft 3 campaign that he feared for the worst when he learned that Lordaeron fell, and he heard that Jaina sailed west for unknown reasons so he followed her to save her. He probably thought that she was fleeing from the scourge and the burning legion that already descended by this point. From his perspective he just discovered old enemies gather on a new continent. So he fought against them. He was just fighting his enemy, that does not make him a bad man.

@kevinwheeler7427
@kevinwheeler7427 6 жыл бұрын
Missildine Online Daelin being a racist and Daelin wanting to save his daughter are not mutually exclusive. Remember that he did fight in two wars with the orcs and that the orcs were victims of the demons was not common knowledge to the human kingdoms at that time. Daelin had every reason to believe that what he found on Kalimdor was a population of war prisoners who escaped in a violent uprising. He had every reason to assume that they were the same Horde that invaded the human kingdoms twice. Now he definitely made some mistakes, primarily not listening to his daughter, but one has to bear in mind that Daelin didn’t play through the Horde campaign in WC3 like we did. So while he is definitively villainous from *our* perspective from his characters perspective his distrust is justified.

I’m pretty certain a good chunk of WoW fans have a big crush on jaina regardless of gender and this just fueled the fire imo. Jaina is such a tragic character. She’s lost SO GOD DAMN MUCH and she’s STILL trying to do right by the folks in Azeroth. Most other people would have snapped by now, and who could blame them?

a Theme of redemption,forgiveness & a changing in ideology. Peace at all cost which ended up sacrificing her Father & betraying her Nation. The Song is all about how her Nation holds her responsible for her father's demise. Jaina now realizes after 20 years perhaps the Admiral was Right. Her ideology has changed from peace to war. As The Churchill quote goes " If you are not a Liberal at 20 you have no heart, You're not a Conservative at 30 you have no sense"

Rexxar isn't at fault for killing Daelin Proudmoore, the guy and his men wouldn't back down from slaughtering the Horde. Back then the Horde was more so than ever about honor and comradely but times changed and now that just shaped into something good that Jaina did for a whole faction into now something that she regrets.

May not have been Rexxars fault, bute Daelin wasn't in the wrong either. Many people think he just attacked the Horde out of ignorance, but these people often forget, that there was no kind of peace between Horde and Alliance back then. They always point towards Mount Hyjal events. However, at MH only Horde, Nighthelves and just 1 Tiny fraction of humans under Jaina fought together. But there was absolutely no Alliance involvement and so no kind of peaceful bond existed between the Alliance and Horde, back when this happened. All Daelin Proudmore knows, that the undoubtly bad Horde, which invaded Azeroth (under the control of Mannoroths blood), sank most of his fleet with dragons and killed his son, now were about to establish their main base right next to Theramore. So fighting them was absolutely justified. Only Jaina, who had a connection to Thrall and Cairne because of MH had to make a hard call. She didn't interfere but also didn't took a side. Now she regrets it, after what Garrosh did to Theramore in the end. Awesome story.

His last words to her were "Maybe in time, you will understand." And honestly. What is happening now is proving Daelin right. The reason Daelin was like he was, was that the horde killed his son, Tandred.. Jainas brother.... And Daelin watched Stormwind burn to ground the first time.. he's a veteran of the wars... believe me. Daelin has his reason to hate.. and now the horde is only proving him right. No matter how you look at it. Would you trust someone who did that to you? Fast forward all the events up until now. Legitemately. There is nothing you can compare or say to prove to me that her actions now aren't justified. Without being viewed as out of your bloody mind people.

Beware, beware, the daughter of the sea Beware I heard him cry His words carried, upon the ocean breezeAs he sank beneath the tide Those blood soaked shores of Kalimdor Where sailors fought and died The Admiral fell at Theramore Because she left his side Why this? Why this? Oh daughter of the sea Why this did she forget her seaside days? Always the pride of our nation’s eyes. How could she go astray? When she did flee across the ocean deep The Admiral followed west What else but sail to save a daughter’s life? And pray she still drew breath But there he found upon those distant shores Enemies on the rise! But when he faced those savage hordes His daughter stood aside And buried deep beneath the waves Betrayed by family To his nation with his last breath cried Beware the daughter of the sea I’m listening now Father I heard, I heard, across a moonlit sea The old voice warning me Beware, beware the daughter of the sea Beware, beware, of me

I agree completely. Jaina doesn't really need a redemption arc, if anything, i think she's on the "right" path at the moment. Jaina wasn't really my favorite character in WC3 or early WoW, but oh boy, after the bombing of Theramore (always remember) Jaina has been my favorite character in Warcraft. Without a doubt some of Blizzards best storytelling. Just a shame that so many people don't seem to understand her and just write her development off as her being crazy.

I find it unfair to call Daelin a villain. It is true that he depised the Horde, and that he definetly acted with hatred towards them. But he had only ever seen the worst that the Horde had to offer, and acted accordingly. He saw them (Figuratively) raze Stormwind and Lordaeron, and when they attacked Dalaran, he didn't know at the time, if his daugther had died, and then he would lose his son too, etc. He had ever once encountered orcs showing a shred of honor, compassion or empathy, and had seen thousands of people die to them. To him, and undoubtedly most of the Lordaeronian Alliance, they were nothing but a ruthless menace. Which frankly was a justified view to have of the Horde at the time. To feel fear, anger or "racism" against a force that seeks to devastate your way of life, is understandable. He then later learns that his daugther had survived, during a raid on an orc outpost in Southshore, and that she had founded Theramore. He heads there immediately with a fleet after learning of it, and encounters the new Horde, who claims to have redeemed themselves, as if that was somehow for them to decide, after all the atrocities they had comitted, he likely thought. And there he would die for doing what he believed to the right thing to do. If someone torched my city and its inhabitants on purpose, intoxicated or not, and later claimed that they had redeemed themselves, by themselves, I wouldn't give them any benefit of the doubt either. I am not trying to condone acting with hatred. But Daelin was a man beloved by his people, and was highly respected by the other Kingdoms in the old Alliance. He were even great friends with Anduin Lothar. And to all who were affected by the ravages of the Horde, he would have seemed to be a hero. And I think it's a shame to label him as a villain, when he actually was, at that point in time, a great defender of his people. There was and is more to him than just his extremist bias against orcs. (Yes I care far too much. :P)
