i recently found out those curling wand burning scenes are based off of a true bullying case that took place in Cheongju, South Korea in 2006. when i was watching the show i genuinely believed it was an exaggeration but now my heart aches. the victim recently did an interview when she found out the show referenced her. the actual incident that took place is so much worse than what the series covered. the real victim was held captive by her bullies for almost a month where they assaulted her with baseball bats, used safety pins to scratch her chest, repeatedly burned her skin when they realized the scars were fading, and even ripped open her scabs to torture her. they beat her so hard her tailbone got dislocated. unfortunately, the perpetrators never actually got punished for those crimes and the victim looked traumatized while showing her scars from 20 years ago. she couldn’t even build up the courage to actually watch the show herself.

I'm starting to wonder if one of the reasons Eve burned her victims was because she wanted them to be "ugly." There seemed to be a pattern of her being jealous of these girls in some way. Like that one time she asked Jae if he found Diana pretty. Or the fact that it was obvious she felt slightly intimidated by the girl she killed but now we know that she actually was pregnant with Jae's child. Or when she got so angry that Richard met with Diana to talk and called it cheating although she actually cheated and had that man raising another person's child without them knowing. Also the fact that she's always comparing herself to others or putting looks on a pedestal in every way shape or form. I'm not sure how true that is, but I just wonder if that maybe could be a reason🤔.

In my first run through the entire thing, I found out one of the reasons Eve bullied Diana was that the shaman Eve's mother brought her to said that Eve would have bad luck around people with "o" in their names (as per Korean hangeul). Diana's actual name is Dong-eun, Suzy's actual name is So-hee. Both have "o" in them. (Coincidentally, Richard's actual name is Do-young, so basically Eve surrounds herself with people who eventually bring her bad luck lmao)

Yeonjin got the best outcome of Dong-Eun revenge out of them. She’s broken mentally, she lost her husband, child, career, friends, social status, luxurious lifestyle, wealth, mom, she’s in jail serving time for a crime she didn’t commit AND she doesn’t know how or why, Dong-eun pretty much just left her in suspense forever. And she’ll lose her beauty over time while she is in prison💀 This ending was perfect, everyone got what they deserved.

Also.. when I said “ crime she didn’t commit” I was referring to Myeong- Oh’s murder not So-Hee.

My theory for why Richard didnt leave Eve: The only way Richard can still meet Diana is through their connection of Eve. He was mesmerized by Diana, he wanted to know her more. Eve was the only reason Diana associated with him.

Her storytelling is AMAZING but there's only so much she can tell in a 2 hour video of an pt 2, EIGHT eps long series which on their own each eps is over an hr long. i binged watched the whole thing in one day and while watching Stephanie's storytelling, I could repicture the scenes. It's so different when you can recall the character's voices, their mannerism its everything. She really didn't give 'david' enough credit as he was the one that came up with the plan of meeting 'eve' in the hospital - 👀🤭. i don't want to spoil it too much for you but go watch it right now!!!!

As everyone said, I still think you should watch it. It's better to see for yourself how the characters are portrayed and how their lines are originally said to truly get the depths of what the writers and actors tried to accomplish in the storytelling. Stephanie is AMAZING at doing retellings but she could only give you so much in the time she has to cover it.

Whew I'm an hour late but I'm excited to watch Stephanie's recap! I agree Part 1 was more context and giving insight of the pain and suffering of Dong Eun but Part 2 is just the mechanics of the revenge, and also exploring the internal conflict Dong Eun goes through. Can love and friendship even exist when all you have in common is revenge and being a victim? I think this was what the writer also tried to explore. Nevertheless, absolutely LOVED howshe ultimately used what the bullies' loved against them. Yeonjin's mom pitted against Yeonjin, YeSol against JaeJun, the beloved drugs against Sara, the fiance against Hyejeong. Myeong-O's death simply lit the match.
