Finally a natural on youtube who doesn't put on a ton of makeup for her videos and doesn't have her hair looking perfect in every video. When you say you woke up like this , you actually woke up like this. You didnt twist and then take your twists down and claim to woke up like that.

Shes right..I have 4c hair and it is so hard to take care of to the point where i hate it sometimes...I grew up with relaxed hair, and I always went to the hair salon. Now that im natural, I have so many knots and tangles, and my hair breaks off so badly and spits in the middle :( ive tried so many products and none work for me. I don't know what to do anymore *sigh*
@Bennetts30448 жыл бұрын
Miss Mae just because your hair is natural does not mean u don't continue to go to hair dresser. if u are not a hair person natural hair will not make u one. find a hairdresser that knows about you hair and try this for a while

Miss Mae i am the same way. to top it off, i have horrible allergies and seb dermatitis...so going natural has become hell. i cant use most of these products. i have found some natural hairstylists. i am thinking that if someone can look at my scalp and show me something other than using the dryong shampoos i have to use for my scalp issues... i might can make this work. i only moss relaxed hair when it comes to trying to detangle my hair. i am about over the wigs...and weaves irritate my scalp so i am way over that.

I have 4c hair and boys at my school bash black girls and say how they only like whites and mixed girls. So I've always been insecure and I've always stuck to weaves. I finally let my hair out and I honestly don't know what to do with it . 4c hair is hard to manage
@nicoleallen7758 жыл бұрын
**long reply** First off, congrats to you for ignoring the haters and embracing your natural 4c hair! Second, to start you off, lemme tell you something I discovered a week ago and wish I would've found out 3 years ago when I went natural: to detangle, cover your hair in coconut oil ($10 @Walmart), let it sit for like 25 minutes w/ a shower cap (or overnight) and the tangles come right out! (then rinse) If you don't wanna wait that long, put some apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz it on your hair (trust me, invest in the spray bottle). Both will also leave your hair incredibly soft, and then you just LOC method, and style. Best wishes on your journey!
@malaysiadaniels15578 жыл бұрын
+Nicole A Thank you so much! I've also been having trouble growing my hair what do you use to make your hair grow ?
@nicoleallen7758 жыл бұрын
+Malaysia Daniels My hair grows fine, so I focus more on keeping the length (which may be your problem, bc coily hair breaks easily). I try to be VERY gentle when I dangle, and wear styles that last at least a week so I'm not messing w/ my hair a lot. I also gave up on combs pretty quick haha!

Wow it amazes me how ppl are to still blind to the beauty of natural hair. Well these ignorant pions are lost sheeps and they need to find their way to common sense and human decency. Enough about them. Lets talk about you super star. Im so proud of you that you saw through their crap and decided to still be you my dear! You go girl!!!! Give this journey of yours some time. Read, watch videos, experiment reasonably and be patient. Your hair is an expression of how well you love it. Dont see your hair as anything else but 4c then you will realize it will become easier to try out products, methods etc...Im always here along with alot of other 4c tubers and as you can see from all who commented the nappyfu youtube family got your back too!!!

I don't understand why it doesn't grow equally but that's not why I'm commenting.the thing is, I moisturize my hair with water then seal it with Shea butter i always get when I go to Nigeria but my hair is always so dry and it gets dry right after I moisturize it.if you have any advice I would like that very much

We supported 3c and 4a women on KZbin and convinced ourselves that black women's hair looks like mixed women's hair. and this is the result. frustration. We never realized how little sense it made to align with women who already had hair that reflected beauty standards and just CHOSE to perm their hair. And now we have a warped belief about natural hair. And we made those loose hair women famous. We thought we went natural for self love. Did we?

I accidentally did this without even knowing it one day when I was taking down my weave. I put coconut oil all in it while I was taking the weave out, then brushed it out, left it for a long time while washing and giving the weave hair a hot oil treatment. Then washed it and conditioned, and the oil made my hair so much easier to detangle, still really painful but a lot less painful! I'm glad I saw this comment because I kinda forgot about it so now I know to incorporate it into my routine always! Also my 4c hair always does what she is talking about in the video at 3:40 but hopefully I can learn something from these videos because I have never known how to take care of it right. I have just decided to start my natural transition journey. I am so scared but I really do want to do this. I am so sick of relaxers damaging my hair. I am 36 years old and I have never seen my natural hair. I've done a lot of research but there is something about your videos that tells me am in the right place. Thank you I so enjoy watching your videos. Please pray for me. Lol

I like the hair texture it's super fluffy. I hope you make it grow long and let it be thick n fluffy. I ain't no hair expert but some advice, I hope, would be a) always separate sections, regardless of hair type, then find what works for you(olive oil, coconut, butter, egg mixture, etc) and since it is very dry(as in it'll drink that stuff up in like 2 minutues lol) get in the shower and let the water keep it wet OR just dip your head under the sink. b) Comb it with a pick comb, do it in small sections and do not rush it due to tangles. If the tangles don't split that part needs more oil or butter(I use cantu shea butter) and use fingers if you are scared of the comb. c) If you have build up, rub in apple cidar vinegar at your roots and wash out in maybe 10 minutes(if it's bad first use some dandruff shampoo). d) Your hair always lets you know where the breakage/split ends are- feel for it then cut it off. It feels different compared to the rest of your hair- make sure it is semi-wet(trim after you leave shower basically). e) Do this treatment maybe once a week and when hair improves you can do this faster like twice a week or even more. Give hair time to get used to the changes(the moisturizing/conditioning and stuff). f) Get leave in conditioners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am mixed but my dad has always had me in a perm due to nappiness. I figured most of this out on my own and it works for me and makes it feel so soft. I naturally have curls tho and some 4c may not but this should work for all 4c hair; the non-curls will just have soft, fluffy hair. Those who are starting out as naturals won't see results until maybe around a month in a half so keep at it your hair is begging for nutrients but if you drown it in minerals it might react weirdly lol so I advise to take it slow and just keep goin. All I use is cantu shea butter, olive oil, argan oil, and coconut oil.

Thank you. I feel like I had to get a mini big chop because of my ends being rough. Although I put moisture and seal with shea butter my ends were raggedy and I had to have another inch cut off (3.5 inches in total). My plan is when I protective style to braid my hair all the way to the ends. Usually I don't. Hopefully this will help because I'm sick of having to keep trimming my ends 😡

Can you please do a video about low vs high and normal porosity hair?. I am seeing more and more youtubers talk about the importance of knowing the porosity of your hair versus the texture. What are your thoughts?
@Cindy997658 жыл бұрын
It is important. People with low porosity hair, have hair that doesn't easily absorb products (they basically just sit on the hair so your hair may feel dry even after putting a lot of product), and when the hair does absorb the products, it holds onto that moisture. People with high porosity hair have hair that easily absorbs products, and sometimes, the product may just run right out. So, low porosity hair needs products like humectants that will help seal in moisture and use light stuff to avoid product buildup. They may think they need heavy products all the time, but they only need it from time to time. Some people with high porosity hair like products that are light but they may really need heavy products since moisture leaves their hair so fast.
@Cindy997658 жыл бұрын
I'm not NappyFu, but I just felt like that info could be useful.
@janerogers6168 жыл бұрын
+Cindy99765 No , thanks for responding! I did the hair porosity test with my hair in a glass of water. That hair sat on top of the water forever. I did it for 5 hours just to make sure, lol and it didn't budge. So I guess I am low porosity. But what do I do with that information? Does pre pooing work for me? Should I be deep conditioning weekly? In what order should I apply my products when I am trying a wash and go or a twist out to get the best results? That's what is so confusing.
@Cindy997658 жыл бұрын
yvette_d_ Prepooing does work for low porosity hair. Light oils like Argan oil or Moroccan oil is ideal, but occasionally using slightly heavier things like Shea butter and creamy leave in conditioners is good too. I like to lightly spritz my hair with water, finger detangle, comb with a wide tooth comb, apply my Shea butter based leave in conditioner, apply a small amount of Jamaican black castor oil, and then install my protective style.

Atleast she can run her hands through her hair and her hair moves when she moves her head. My hair is matted and stiff that I'm convinced that I don't even have 4c hair, I think my hair is type 4d or 5, much more nappier. Finally someone 100% natural. No makeup and no clipins. She is very brave to put her natural face/hair on KZbin for the world to see and it's nice to see all of our black women embracing her.

I am now beginning a journey to learn and to take better care of my hair. I do not hate my hair, I love my hair, but I just haven't understood it. Oh wait, I understood it does what it wants and what it is supposed to do, I just have to listen to it. I was going to get locks again but was hesitant because I wanted my hair to be free. Now I know why the hesitancy, I was supposed to meet you. Thank you!

After watching this video, this helped me understand why my hair has not being growing to the length I want it to be. I would braid up my hair about two days out of the seven day week and that's because I have to force myself to braid it especially after wash day and I would be super tired after all the school work I have that would cause me to stay up so late trying to finish it. I thought my hair would be much longer than what it is now after being natural for 2 years but now I see why it hasn't. It would be dry, not stretched, tangled for days, and the ends needed to be pampered and my hair is dyed a different color. But I appreciate you for uploading this to help me understand how to cooperate w/ my natural 4c hair. Thank you NappyFu

I wish I would have discovered your channel a year ago. When I was about 9 my parents cut my hair down almost to my scalp(well not that much,but close). The reason was because I cut my hair at that time and my hair was growing uneven and breaking off. For the next 13 or so years I've always worne relaxers,wigs,and weaves because I HATED my hair natural. Just a few weeks ago(I've been natural for a year now),I got tired of it all and decided to wear my natural hair,rocked my Fro and everything. Today I texterized ir and I'm slowly failing in love with my real hair again and getting the confidence to wear it. You're channel is very insightful and I love it :)!

Me and my girls all have 4c hair. I try to maintain the hair of my girls as best i can. I really love the look of the twist and i try to do braids but our hair is sooooo soooo dry all the time. by the time i get through with my youngest daughters hair its already dry and its like once her hair is dry her twist dont have any body they are just sticking up every where. and her hair is always frizzy like immediately after her hair is braided. Can anyone suggest a moisture that actually last?

Hey girl! I'm 4c as well, been natural for about 5 years now, but I mostly wear my hair in a wash'n'go. I experience the tangles you have in this video ALL THE TIME! I re-wet my hair every day in the shower, semi-detangle/co-wash approx. every 3 days, and pre-poo with a complete de-tangle at least once a week. I love the way my hair looks, its so easy, and I think its healthy. I usually only stretch it for special occasions. Ultimately my hair goal is health then length. What are your thoughts on 4c's and wash'n'goes? And what advice can you give me about my hair? Please and thank you! BTW love your videos!

Encouraged and inspired! I don't think I hate my 4c hair, but I'm definitely at a loss for how to take care of it and have it thrive healthily . That's a lot of hair advice out there but often times it's irrelevant. It doesn't bring life to my hair in the same way those steps work for others. But so by videos like this make be feel hopeful. Like I CAN do this!
