My favourie was when she said that the young dancers motivated her, and that she can change the future of theses girls, and she felt like superhuman. I really appreciate that. The children have to have somebody to admire. That helps them to become a great adult.

Misty Copeland is an amazing human, so strong-minded, passionate and intelligent. She took her potential and promise that her first teachers saw in her and turned it into something that is changing the ballet world for the better! I'm a long time fan of Misty's and have loved seeing her life's work turn into the success that it has.

I am always impressed by anyone rising above any type of road blocks that are put into their way. Misty Copeland is that kind of person. Listening to her makes you want to be just like her. Her hard work and positive attitude will make others, especially those who are critical and hurtful. see how small their mentality is toward someone who might become a Misty Copeland. I have not always been overweight as I am now, but I can see discrimination toward myself in a smaller measure than Misty did. By the way, I am 71 years old and still learning. Misty, you are a divine inspiration!

I find it amazing what P.O.C ( People of color) have to do to be considered/accepted by society. I find it depressing how many P.O.C that do not get the chance to show their talent because of racial differences and ignorance. Society does suffer in the long run from the absences of brilliants and greatness of people of color.

Tell me about it. Even in the world of Improv, if you are a P.O.C or Mixed, you tend to get pushed back in the corner as a token character, while the main cast members happen to be Caucasian, Male, and from upper middle class backgrounds (just like the producers and casting directors) It's 2017, yet somethings never really change :(

Wow. Even though I have missed the golden opportunity to dance, I am inspired to be the best Me today. I do appreciate Technology...the internet is awesome. It feels so good to hear someone understand my struggles and speak to me without even knowing me. I feel like I really know Misty Copeland and one day I pray that our paths will cross. My 4th son is a Junior in college and sometimes I feel so washed up. I have lived life through these guys so vicariously, I have attended MIT and YALE. Vicariously, I have received a P.H.D in Engineering. Vicariously, I have competed on the streets in dance competitions via my youngest son who enjoyed break dancing. Vicariously, I have even managed to self-study for the A.P. Physics Exam while battling the horrible symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes and PASS. Finally, I have to LIVE. This video is tremendously inspiring. As I begin to live again I will remember Misty's words: "...dive into every day like this is the last time I am going to do this...this is how you become the best." "...I am going to go for it. And if I fall, how am I going to recover?" "Success doesn't come without Sacrifice." May God be with me as I endeavor to be my best!

Evan, I want to add something that actually I heard her say on the Tamron Hall show recently (today is 6 November 21): "I [as an American] have the right to strive to achieve the acceptance into any space I choose (paraphrase)." She goes on to make clear that she knows that she can perform in the elite African-American/people of color dance companies, yet her life is about dancing in the spaces of her choice.

1. Tell the world via Social Media you are a victim 2. Play the race card at every opportunity. 3. Forget about mastering your art. It's not necessary 4. Get the choreography simplified. 5. Tell the world ballet isn't about 'tricks'like fouettes, just like Opera is not about hitting the notes. 6. Get yourself on every TV show despite the fact you should be working on your hyperextension. 7. When people notice your failings call them racist. 8. Turn attention to Bolshoi Dancers in blackface. It will distract some critics. 9. Claim that 2 years of training at the Y was more than enough you were so talented. 10. Encourage other black girls to do the same. 10.

And she is an amazing HARD WORKER. Pushing through that injury of hers might not be the wising choice to make, but it did show that she was determined to carry on and reach her dreams. The most beautiful thing though, is that even now with her new found fame, she still views herself as a dancer first and foremost. Misty doesn't consider herself a "star" or celebrity really. I remember an interview somewhere (or maybe it was an article) where she stated that before all else, she was a dancer first and always will be. ^ That truly is awesome to hear from someone who made it so far in her field, yet she does not let the fame or whatever get to her head. She is still 100% passionate and dedicated to the art that she loves doing. The amount of people that she inspires is.. INSPIRING!! lol :)
