He makes sense with return on investment. But remember, this is something you intend to do for the rest of your life. Job satisfaction is critical. Students often make the mistake of chosing degrees that are either too difficult and also, they go into the profession and they are miserable. University only does so much. It's the experience that's also important. There are things that univerisities can't teach you. I mean, don't laugh I studied a BEd degree and went into post graduate (it pays more). Teaching really was a calling for me and I have no regrets 😘 I have a lot of job satisfaction. Very informative video. Thank you so much Mitch!

@@shonorlandomavie8930 Hey, Well I'm in my second year...I managed to pass my first year but the challenging courses were the programming ones as I had no prior knowledge...funny thing, I actually ended up enjoying them and passing very well...we did python and java programming languages, got to understand some concepts of electronics, introduced to some advance math, understanding the physics of electricity But just stick around mitch's channel, I had an idea of what to expect thru him...

@mitch7w4 жыл бұрын
Entrepreneurship is less concerned with what degree you did and more concerned with how motivated you are as a person. Tech startups are founded with a solid theoretical knowledge though so I'd say pretty well

How are you finding the very long holiday we've been given ...or do you get to go back before the 15th of March?
@mitch7w4 жыл бұрын
We have a holiday module on the 15th Feb which is two weeks long. But still have no info as to the status of that - in-person or online or whatever. So everyone's a bit uncertain. As for the very long holiday, I've been trying to make the most of it by doing a few Udemy courses and getting a job, so have been keeping myself occupied.

I have a big question to ask about the right study choice and return on investment So for years I've been considered studying Drama but at the same time, I'm worried I won't be able to do anything with that degree once I've graduated. What do I do?
@mitch7w4 жыл бұрын
What do you want to do with your drama degree - act, write screenplays, direct? You don't need a degree for those things. If you're worried, rather do a BCom or something and then work on your drama as a side project. I also enjoyed drama at school and hence this youube channel of me "performing" every video became a thing.

What do you think about the other degrees in the Ebit faculty, besides engineering?
@mitch7w4 жыл бұрын
Look some are obviously more in demand than others and it's up to you what field to go into. But overall, I think since it's mostly linked to trade professions like architecture, engineering, QS and CS I think the faculty as a whole has mostly great future-proof courses.

All good points Mitch, one might also make a list of textbook titles for each of the modules in a particular curriculum of interest and flip through the pages of some of them such as the one you mentioned for Engineering Maths in an earlier video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKqthXZnicxpZsU That one in particular is worth buying I think as it applies to many of the technical degrees one is likely to consider. Ask yourself if the chapters appear intriguing or incomprehensible and use that as one factor in deciding whether to proceed.
@mitch7w4 жыл бұрын
Not a bad idea. Watching introductory lectures for the subjects on KZbin would also be helpful

I'm planning to go study engineering at Stellies... My marks are slightly above average and I am quite capable of learning more... I'm just scared that I might fail some subjects... I also applied at NWU for a slightly "easier" degree... It won't pay as well, but its basically the same course just different faculties... Now I'm completely torn... Any advice?
@mitch7w4 жыл бұрын
If your maths and physics marks are good and you enjoy them then you should be alright. Must engineers fail a few courses and have to repeat so don't stress about that.
@fransdav55733 жыл бұрын
NWU is a good choice for any engineering degree that they have. I know that they are the best University for a BIng mechanical engineering degree in SA.

You don't really need one (at UP atleast) you take the bus from res to the University or you can walk. There is a mini shoping center with a dischem, Woolworths and some other stores across the road from the res. If you need to go somewhere like the doctor you can Uber or ask a friend to take you. However, having a car will obviously be safer and more practical, but it is definitely not a necessity.

If you're on the medical Campus you need a car. Else not really, you can use the bus and walk and bike
