Everyone says that things could've been different if Merlin told her but can't you see? Merlin wanted so badly but the two figures in his life both told him it would end badly. He didn't know what else to do, how could he? A dragon and his father figure are trusted by him he would think they're right.

I think it's not necessarily Merlin's fault but he could have done something about it. If he had acted differently in some situations Morgana would most likely not have become what she became. Doesn't mean Merlin is to blame because like you said he always did what others told him was right.

@@PoisonedShadowz It's easy for us to say. In hindsight even more so. Remember, Merlin was a young kid (16-18yrs old) when he first met Arthur. The actor was 22yrs and always looking a bit older than he actually was but that is irrelevant. Merlin trusted Gaius and embraced the dragon's notion of a 'destiny' he has to live up to. It gave his life purpose and offered a way to deal with his gift of magic. His impulse was to help Morgana but many restrictions needed to be overcome and risks taken to make a difference. If Merlin had been older, wiser and more experienced with all these challenges he might have been able to steer Morgana's path in another direction. The young man we know never really had it within his powers to save her.

@@PoisonedShadowz yeah and the fact that Uther pushed her further away from him and her hatred grew forcing Merlin’s hand once she had made up her mind. I do believe that if he had reached out that maybe things has been different but not as different as people think. She was stilled fueled with anger and hate, she still blamed Uther and along with Arthur seeing them one in the same once she was blinded by her power and hatred

I am not a Morgana&Merlin shipper and to be honest, I used to ship Arthur&Morgana so badly as a couple at the beginning and as a bromance relationship after it was revealed that they were siblings. Yet this broke my heart so much; maybe because this is my fav song or because of your wonderful editing skills but after watching this, I just cant stop thinking what would have happened if Arthur or Merlin could reach to the innocent Morgana in the cruel woman she became. I truly believe she could have a different story, a different ending. Like Arthur once said, she used to be such compationate such lovely when she was a kid; she showed mercy and gave love to everyone. Despite Uther’s hatred towards the sorcerers, she managed to see them without judgements, she even risked her life to save some. Even though Uther and everyone else made her think that there is a class difference between them and their servents; she treated Merlin and Gwen so well, she loved them so much. She always wanted what was good for Arthur and loved him as much. So I just think the writers chose the easy way, to make Morgana realize her mistakes, to make her remember the wonderful and compationate woman she was would be the epic ending; they just didnt bother to write so. Anyway great job my friend, you dragged me into the memories; loved your edit!

it's always amazing when people think about the dynamics rather than the ship; I used to ship Arthur and Merlin (!) for example, but in this video I was more concerned about their story, a "what if". This isn’t just a story that they just came up with, it’s based off of real Arthurian legend, so the writers didn’t just “choose the easy way,” as you say. That’s how it actually is in the legend.

@@andithomas3303 the thing is i’m not stupid, i actually do make research before i watch something and king arthur and the round table was not something that i needed to make a research about. So I do know the legend, but i also do know about what a modern adaptation can possibly be. For ex, there are three sherlocks (one movie and two tv shows) and in one Moriarty and Irene Adler are the same person (elementary), which makes Moriarty a woman and Sherlock’s love interest; so it’s not the truest adaption to the original source but they dont have to be true to it either. So when i started watching Merlin; i chose to focus on the chemistry between characters rather than the legend itself. So that’s why i know that they were planning a possible Morgana&Arthur path for the Show; in the end they either thought that it was too much or unnecessary i dunno but that was what i meant in the original comment.

I feel like they fucked her character up so much. She was a good villain, but they played her as more angry and bitter just because, then really getting into the reasons why. I mean, I know they touched on it from her perspective, but it was lost under all the layers of scheming and time skips. She originally wanted Uther dead, and then Merlin poisoned her. She didn’t want to hurt her friends, she just wanted that tyrant off the throne. And from her perspective, she watched as him (and honestly, Arthur too) take the lives of so many innocent magic users. We know Merlin has magic and Arthur is a good person, but she didn’t have that perspective. She was alone, and isolated. And felt betrayed by her friends. That’s why she did everything she did, she felt like they had betrayed her, not the other way around. And from her perspective, I can’t entirely blame her. Over time, her anger and bitterness did consume her. I don’t even blame Merlin for poisoning her, because he was influenced to do things in a certain way himself, but Morgan wasn’t a bad person. Being isolated and betrayed can take even the kindest soul and twist them over a long period of time into something else. Her choices were still her own, but if anything, it’s just a tragedy. I wish they conveyed the nuances better.
