Yea, man that Mixing Station App saved my ass on a gig where I forgot to pack my iPads and I was an hour away from home with 20 minutes to start the show. It SAVED my butt and kind of awesome to be able to not lose the $$$, Even used lyrics on the same phone.

A fellow engineer friend turned me on to this a while back. I occasionally mix a bar gig where the sound console is in a room and not a booth, so I have to mix from an ipad most of the time, but when it starts packing in, I just take my phone with me and use mixing station so I don’t get a bunch of drunks coming up saying “what’s that do”, I just look like a normal person on my phone! Lol!

What sound card do you recommend for the live.. in a rack or not ! What do you think about Soundcraft ui12 system? However I have a lot of difficult to found a good quality for the support of the iPad…and can’t find good usbc cable professional quality ! Have you some advices for me to a good st up for my show thanks per advance

Scott really appreciate all your content. I'm a big fan of your videos. I have some questions about mixing station. I often have two problems when mixing our IEM from the app. 1) The app tends to crash, lose connection often. I'm using a 2017 iPad. Could this have anything to do with it? 2) When I re-open the app, I sometimes forget to click send fader, and end up turning up the FOH, which is obviously not ideal. Is there a way to use it just for your monitors, and to have no control over FOH. We always have an engineer who does FOH. Maybe a lock feature means it is purely used for personal mixes? Many thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

Hey Scott, great mixing tip. Being a dinosaur, walking over to adjust the settings on the mixer while playing is pain in the ass and of course, disruptive to the sound., even after doing a sound check. I honestly didn't know the mixer had to be blue touch compatible... I know, welcome to the year 2023.. lol..

Mixing Station is a great app! The monitor only ones, for the most part have crappy UIs. Even if you need one just for your monitors, Mixing Station is preferable to many of the 'official' ones.

Agreed completely! I just have to make sure every musician knows… I mean, KNOWS they have to make sure they click their channel first lol. I’ve had them make that mistake before and they change FOH mix

@@ScottUhlMusic ... and I did that the first night. Oops! Yeah, it's setup now where it just opens that way on my guys' tablets. The worst parts were convincing them to use it and when they bought extra versions for other tablets, there have been a couple issues with paying for it and having the mixer module open without issue. I've had to reach out to the app creator a few times, but he's super responsive.

You can but it's messy. Just have your band install MXBus on their iPhone or MX32Q on Android, both free. Personally I wouldn't have anyone but a sound engineer within 100km of Mixing Station.

@@joebowers2249 My plan is to only do that for smaller cover band gigs where we have to bring our own PA. I have an original band as well that uses some backing tracks for synths, gonna the xr18 just for our click/monitoring and split the mic signals for FOH.

I just picked up a mr18 and have downloaded mixing station. I don't have a separate router yet but was able to connect through the built in wifi (will soon get a router). I noticed though since I was only connected to the mixers wifi that my android was not able to use the internet. Is there a work around this? Thanks! Im new to the digital mixing world and for the most part configured the MR18 to the way i want it

When you are connected to the built in WiFi, you will not be able to use internet until you disconnect from that WiFi. That WiFi is only able to access the mixer, not the internet 👍

So essentially whether I connect using the inbuilt wifi or external router for the mixer, if I'm connected to the mixer with my phone, it won't be able to access the internet or other wifi? Not a deal breaker, I guess I will just use another device of I absolutely need internet on phone

If you connect through an access point directly no. But if the access point is setup as a client on a global wifi, you'll be able to connect to the mixer on the same wifi.

Great video.. I have a Visa Debit card (a gift card) from a friend and I tried using it to pay for the PRO Version of the X32/M32 but the payment was declined. I called the Visa Card company and they told me that the card can be used for any purchase online or in any store. I need to find out why the mixing stations refuse the payment from this card -VISA. How Can I contact them? Thanks

You don’t pay for the app itself, the app is free. You have to add a license for each mixer you want to add 👍
