Thanks Mike, ordered through your link. I'm still using Mixcraft 8, so I jumped on this for the price. I looked at a lot of DAWs before buying v8, and Mixcraft was (and is) my favorite by far.

Foley is pronounced foh lee (long o sound). You are right that they are sound effects. They are often used in film post production to add in ambient sounds that were not recorded on location such as foot steps or fight noises.

Well, I've made up my mind. Instead of going $25 Tier on the RPG Assets Bundle, I'll just $1 Tier that one and $25 Tier this one, even though I don't really understand DAWs or Music Theory (I used to watch a ton of 8BitMusicTheory's videos and I can barely understand what he's even talking about...). I did just $25 Tier the Creative Universe Bundle, but I'm not sure I really should have done that. I've been spending too much money lately... Good to hear Mixcraft and the bundle is good. I use Reaper for recording but picked this bundle up since I don't think Reaper is really built for loops.

Yes, all new loop packs and new VSTs by Cherry Audio. If you have Mixcraft already you can gift it to another while you download all the new VSTs and sample packs.

Some quick info: Mixcraft 10 is being developed, you can check their forums, might not release this year, and no details in features. Mixcraft 9 is fine if you use their included VST plugins, if you add others your mileage may vary. I found that using some other VSTs cause graphical glitches and slow downs in the interface. (yes I updated the videocard drivers)

I have experience using mixcraft 6 back in secondary school music lessons. So I have a long history with Mixcraft. I used to quite like it although not a fan of the interface. I have a licence for Mixcraft 8 but I mainly use Cakewalk or LMMS now. And I used FL studio in the past

very enjoyable review! I like your precise voice, and its effective use to claim the high holy ground of expertise. Your natural rapid fire delivery, with no hint at hesitation allows efficient disabuse at 140bpm, precisely double the mean speed of the person in front of you ordering a Frappuccino. (both meanings of mean intended, the average, and a stab at the tyranny of mediocrity and its soul crushing second-hand mediocrity everyone in the room must suffer through). Yours in contrast was a refreshing spark of wit, smart without the ass component those without your humility often present instead of the smart portion. All around thumbs up and with your level of hesitation, I offer my sincere compliments to a job done exceptionally well. The only thing that stands out is inexperience with the dark art of mime, often done in teams of two, without the circusey makeup and LSD permagrin, so not like Tapeface (whom I love and respect as a genius), but in a basketball court sized studio with enough faders on the board the engineer will want a motorized chair or robots to yell at (or voice activated automation, "fader 263 to 74 percent and boost lexicon plate". That's the control room, with 4,000 MADI channels! Foley (rhymes with holy) artists (re)create background sounds, following the super cute tradition of old time radio drama, where the sound effects person would have actual objects, like panes of glass and a hammer, shoes and a square of granite, a sandbox filled with gravel and walnut shells for the perfect crunch under leather shoes, as well as newspaper, and a big ham for fight scenes. Good times! LMAO. Modern Foley Artists are judged on how fast they knock out the assignments, and each sound gets its own channel, everything from nylon jacket brushes railing, to the rubbery snap of a condom used as water balloon, and the impact slap with microtsunami followed by the whisper of droplets gently landing on grass. It's not always obvious how to get the best sound for the shot (the artist part of Foley Artist should self-legitimize right about now). Each actor in a big production will have their foley double, sort of like a stunt double, but the idea is to match body type and style of movement for consistency. The huge mix architecture is daunting, keep in mind working in surround, so multiply the channels by at least 6, and sometimes different surround effects for the same scene are used, muted, and saved for the mixdown much later. That should fill in the tiny niche you were missing. Keep up the A game, you have excellent presenting skills, the world certainly needs more disabusive content, scales are tipped in favor of simply abusive content. Consider me a new fan.

It's the only DAW i like to use. I use all external VSTs though, and my own instruments. I've tried Studio one, Reaper, Logic, and a few other. Just setting the in/outs on the track, or setting your vsts and using it for midi is silly easy. Really is dummy proof

hey I played around with DAWs many years ago. Do modern PC's need to install that special sound play file or driver (sorry I cant recall the name)? Wasn't hard but I want super easy, no messing around with trying to install.

As long as you can hear audio from your computer, most DAWs can work on it.

Are you thinking of ASIO? I think that's only applicable if you're going to do live line-in recording, and it'll probably be included in the DAW installation if it's a requirement.

I bought a similar bundle a few years ago (that included loops from the same vendor as this one). The loops files download is not from humble but from the vendor site and time-limited. I lost my files and the download link has expired. I decided never to buy anything from this vendor again. [edit] My memory failed me. See the comments below.
