Of course it's a glorified Civic, but at least it's not based on a Civic platform thats two generations old like the current model ILX (which is really the Integra replacement) you can overpay for at your local Acura dealer. But once again, the Integra has always been a glorified Civic...but with better performance and a few more luxury gadgets. If this latest gen builds on that formula it will do well with status seekers who like the Civic but dont want to be a "Honda driver".

exactly! this is the entry level acura, so it makes sense it would use the si as a starting point and then offer more features/refinement all while (hopefully) having brake, suspension, and exhaust upgrades, and different tuning/programming.

Just drove the new Integra and it was kind of awesome. The more I drove it, the more I appreciated it. It's very well thought out. I was surprised at how it grew on me. At first, I thought it was kind of ordinary, but very quickly I could see it subtle strengths. It's a smooth driver and the engine satisfies in a new way. Then after my car was repaired in three days, I had to take my loaner Integra back and I hated doing so. Alas it was back to my big lumbering MDX.

Acura: This is the new Integra. The Internet: That's not an Integra. That's a rebadged ILX. That's just a rebadged Civic/Civic Si. The Integra was a coupe. This car will fail. Acura disgraced us with this car that looks like an Accord Crosstour and ZDX. I'll keep my old 80s, 90s, 2000s Integra or 02-06 RSX. Me: All of you self-proclaimed Integra diehards made their expectations way too high and you set your own selves up for disappointment. Why? You so-called Integra fans and owners are so narrow-minded and one-sided that you don't see the important of this car, so let me break it down to as common sense and simple as I can. 1. Every Integra from 1986-2001 was always based on the Civic generations from 1985-2000 and the same goes for the 2002-2006 RSX that was based on the 2001-2005 Civic. The new Integra is based on the 11th gen Civic Si sedan platform. 2. The old ILX was on an ancient 9th gen Civic/Civic Si platform that was left to die with very little updates during its mid-cycle refresh and it isn't even remotely close to what the new Integra will be. 3. The 3-door coupe Integras were not exclusive to the Integra nameplate. The Integra has had 4-door sedans and 5-door liftbacks in all of its generations (except for the 4th generation in the RSX). The 4-door sedan and 5-door liftback Integras of the 1st-3rd gen did not make the Integra nameplate less of an Integra. 4. The new Integra using the 11th gen version 2 of the Civic Si's 1.5T engine, getting a 6-speed manual, and an LSD is just the beginning for the reborn. Acura might offer an A-Spec model that'll be like GS-R trim, but it is going to be most certainly guaranteed that Acura will be bringing a Type S trim of the Integra in a few years after the 6th gen Honda Civic Type R is out on roads. 5. The future coming Integra Type S (🤞🏽crossed) hopefully will get the 2.0T K20C6 engine of the Acura TLX/TLX A-Spec that does 272hp and 280lb-ft, but will most likely be heavily retuned to make up to +300hp and +300lb-ft or might possibly use version 2 of the K20C1 engine fort the incoming 6th gen Honda Civic Type R that'll already be over more than +306hp and more than +295lb-ft of tq than version 1 of the K20C1 engine of the outgoing 5th gen Honda Civic Type R, get an upgraded LSD, a beefier/stronger redesigned 6-speed manual for the Type S specifically and because Acura is all about SH-AWD with the Type S models, if Acura heavily reworks the driveshaft under the frame of the sheetmetal, it would be the first time ever that Acura puts SH-AWD on an Integra. Who wouldn't want a Civic Type R-derived Super Handling All-Wheel Drive 6-Speed manual fully loaded Integra for $45,000-$50,000 in a few years? That will be a major win for enthusiasts for both OG Integra diehards and NG Integra buyers. 6. Finally, the 1986-2001 Integras and 2002-2006 RSXs are legendary, iconic, and timeless. The old gen style of the Integras and RSXs and the high revving 9000RPM engines are ghosts of the past and is never coming back, but with the new Integra coming, more specifically for the future coming Integra Type S, you'll be lucky if that maybe gets a high revving engine of up to 8000RPM if anything. Emissions have gotten more tightened in the 2020s decade than in the 80s-2000s where it was less restrictive and more lenient. Acura's design language of the Diamond Pentagon Grille, Jewel-Eyed LED Headlights and Taillights, Chicane-style Daytime Running Lights is Acura's theme whether its on the MDX, RDX, or TLX and now on the new Integra. All in all, the new Integra will sell very well and when the Integra Type S comes (Acura, hopefully with +300hp and +300lb-ft, SH-AWD, upgraded LSD, 6-speed manual and fully loaded), it will be even more exciting and a hot seller. The haters that hate the new Integra now that have never even test drove it yet are the same people who hated the 5th gen FK8 Civic Type R, but when most of them drove the Type R and many of them bought it, their attitude toward the Type R had changed their tune and when the new Integra arrives on showroom floors and dealership lots including the future Integra Type S, the same change of tune about the FK8 Type R will be the same exact results the reborn Integra and Integra Type S will be.

It would have been nice if Acura made this car more of a competitor to the Mazda3 turbo since that car has moved upmarket. This car, however, is just a Civic hatch in a suit. I’ll pass.

There is a clip in the promotional footage that shows the Integra Prototype from a top view. The camera is at the top of a parking structure and the view highlights the Black and Yellow paint work and sleek body shape. The car is parked within lines on the pavement, behind the car some feet back is a directional arrow... The New Integra is going the wrong way. I am not sure but I think Honda parked the car that way for us old school guys... This is not our car, it was not built for us. They said it when they brought the car out that the car is for the next generation of Acura buyers. When I look at the car I gasp, I want the new owners to feel the road like I did, get the sense of power and connectedness. But this is not my car, this car is a younger persons car. Perhaps they need five doors for their growing family, but like most of us, they also crave performance. So, No, this is not my car... My car is the original Gen 3 Integra. Somehow I could never part with it and so I have kept it running. I switched over to doing my own maintenance after the dealer made repeated snippy remark about how they did not like "old cars". I am the better for it, I feel even more connected to the car. I was last under the car to replace the steering rack and I will soon return to replace the trailing arm bushings... then its new tires and an alignment. I have grown comfortable that my check engine light comes on about once a year and I will have to replace a vacuum line or worn sensor. Cheaper than a car payment I say... only after the predicted fowl word. So seeing this new Integra I am sorry, I don't believe that it is going to be a car that someone will not want to get rid of when it gets over 200Ks on the clock. Nothing is ever the same even if we try to call it by the same name.

People are hasty and wrong about the new Integra, here's why: Right away, we have no specs, show some patients. Everyone seems to forget the Integra was ALWAYS just a better Civic. The 11th gen Civic, on which it's based, is already being lauded for its chassis, dynamics, and capabilities. And the new Integra will be a serious enhancement of those proven characteristics. Many wanted a Civic Si hatch, if you're one of them, congratulations you got your wish. If you also wanted an automatic Si, congratulations to you as well. What could make or break this car in base trim is the automatic transmission though. If they keep the DCT from the ILX then excellent, if they bring over the CVT from the Civic hatch, that will be a shame. Styling wise, it's trying to be all things to all people, which isn't a bad thing. People also forget the original Integra was a 5 door. But this brings that liftback style hatch that made the Integra famous as well as practical, it's got four doors for the fast four door crowd (me), and it's got coupe lines for the coupe crowd. If you think it's too tame in the looks department, just picture it as a Type-S. Civic hatch is shaping up to be a really great looking Type-R. TLX made an absolutely sensational looking Type-S. Expect a similar transformation for the Integra Type-S. Speaking of, we know nothing about it. They're gonna gun for the S3, Golf R, A35, and 2 series to an extent. That's a reason to expect SH-AWD paired to the 2.0T that's already in the Acura lineup. A lot of potential in that for sure. So at least hold off for that.

The S3 and Golf R are pretty much the same, one being the sedan version of the other. Same engine, same transmission (not sure if manual is available in the S3), same power numbers. But Acura would need an engine with 300+HP (which they have, the 2.0 engine from the Civic type R) and AWD to compete with and beat the VW twins in terms of performance. They'll also need a quick shifting automatic transmission (this is why they'll need to bring that DCT back), although a 10 speed automatic transmission with the 3.0 turbo V6 from the TLX type S is more likely.

I've given it some thought since the debut and whether you agree or disagree, keep in mind that this is my opinion. When the teaser images of the Integra was shown, I was excited about the reveal and what will it bring. I watch the reveal just like everyone else Thursday evening and I was surprised by the look of it. Here's the deal, the Integra prototype is not going to be the same as the older ones were back in the 80s and 90s because of modern design and technology overall. I like 80% of the car (not a fan of the rear/sloping roofline though) and there is time for improvements. It has to be a hatchback because of how the U.S. market loves crossovers and SUVs. Also, the reason why it has to be built on the platform of the 11th generation Civic is because they both will have a similar chassis, hence why the Integra is the replacement for the slow-selling ILX. Overall, I'm excited to see where Acura goes with the new Integra when it goes on sale next year... as well as a better rear end.

Late reply. I've heard all the negative comments about this car. I would've been OK with it if they offered a "2 door" model. I can't believe they won't offer a 2 door model of the car. The Integra has always been offered in 2 door model and to not include this option only made me hate Acura/Honda because I, like many others, waited a lifetime for its return. They've basically made this into another 4 door family sedan Civic Type R. Or should I say ILX?

The hilarious thing is its faster than all the base Integras ever made and kids still complain - it will also demolish all previous Integras with basic bolt-ons. There hasnt been a 3 door hatch for 17 model years and Hondas peformance formula has been 4 doors. long wheelbase, wide track. massive rims and turbo power for the past 6+ years If they release the Type S Integra with the K20c1 and FK8 suspension it will be a winner - will be the CTR all the boring people asked for

Integras with basic bolt on can run 1/4 mile times somewhere in the mid to low 15s. I don't think I would use the word demolish and I doubt honda/Acura will give us something in the 14s

Its just a better Civic SI, the SI has no value with its $2.5k price bump over the 2020 model. All Honda cars for 2022 went up in cost by at least $1k for no reason other than cause they can. I have a 2013 ILX with the 2.4 manual. I was messing with a K5 yesterday. From a dig, and we did 2 rolls. I had a passenger he did not pull on me. I pulled on him in one of the rolls. I was very surprised because it's said to have 290hp. My ilx only has 201hp. He didn't pull..

The unfortunate thing about the Civic type r is it's literally unattainable for everyone but the few since it's SUPER limited production, so I wouldn't have a chance. This new Integra will have everything except 2.0, but when they do a Type S will that be limited? If not, and it's accessible, this would definitely be attractive, right?
