She-Hulk in the Comics = A Mutated Superheroine that originally faced major rage issues brought on by her transformation and was predisposed toward violence but soon was able to get a grip of her self to the point where her temper was completely in her control. As a result of her exercise over her temper triggered powers, Jen has become very light-hearted, though she often hides behind a sarcastic demeanor as well and also tried for years to help Bruce get control of his temper too but, with his powers far more temperamental than hers, she wasn't able to do much more than help him delay his fits of rage. She also maintains a deep sense of responsibility to help those around her but does not view that as being a reason to impede her day-to-day activities and spends many parts of the day she is not at work or on patrol at the beach or getting spa treatments entirely as her She-Hulk alter-ego, to the point where she rarely feels any need to revert to her original human form. She-Hulk truly deserved better , and I’m very disappointed that Tatiana Maslany turned about to be a real jerk to the fans. She-Hulk always felt to me like this great character that stood the test of time. They really could have this well compelling story about a character who was initially this shy bookish lawyer that was given these powers to save her life and now as She-Hulk she fights in and out of the court for men and woman alike. The creators ,actors and actresses in this show focused more on childish trolling then actually delivering a story that would have been this big thing. Fans LOVE she-hulk from the comics , it’s why she was so popular. She wasn’t this woman that was stuck in a sorority girl mindset like the SHAAL version. When will Hollywood learn the best way to win against the trolls is to not play. Many people thought Wonder Woman was gonna fail , that it was gonna be this big Anti-Men rant film but it proved them wrong by being ( if I dare say ) ONE OF THE BEST SUPERHERO FILMS OUT THERE. Wonder Woman proved haters wrong by being this kind , compelling and wonderful character that worked alongside men instead of putting them down. The writers and director understood the character , unlike they did with She-Hulk , they completely missed the point of She-Hulk as a character , unlike Bruce she liked to go the judicial route at times and when there were these bigger threats it’s when she hulked out. The only part of her they got right was the fact that instead of attacking Todd she would rather fight him in court , sure they added her promiscuity in the show but it was done so classless compared to the comics ( at times ) . They focused so much on trying to send a message to the people who were never gonna watch this show in the first palace that they screwed over the relationship they could have belt with the fans that see excited to see one of there favorite characters on tv. I’m telling you the only people that like this show are misandrist and MCU Stans. She-Hulk could have been the MCU’s morally grounded compass to guide characters in one way ( through Jen ) and another way ( through she-hulk )
@loveunityandpeace2 жыл бұрын
That was an amazingly well typed argument and I agree with you. I chose not to watch she hulk and just listen to review after it was out and I am disappointed. Jen is a really cool character that cares, sympathizes, tries to do the right thing, and when she feels she should (not whenever she wants) she hulks out to save others. What I have seen from just clips and reviews of this, just depresses me. Cause it feels like the MCU needs another moral compass. Captain America in my opinion was a great moral compass in the MCU, with him gone someone needs to fill in the shoes, cause it feels like MCU is missing a soul.

Disney's marketing tactic for this is apparently called "Fan-Baiting". The channel "Midnight's Edge" goes into depth about it on his channel. Basically, it's to cause artificial controversy to garner good media attention from shill sites and bad attention from fans. either way they get attention without having to put in any effort from the creators to make something actually worth watching. And when people call them out on it, they take the most over-the-top comments and blanket the whole fan base as racist, misogynistic, etc. as a cover for their crap decisions. The problem with the 4th wall breaking is that instead of being a novel way to write both the plot and comedy throughout the show, it's mostly used to self-deprecate itself and shield any criticism because they're "self-aware." Not to mention that it pretty much only involved Jen talk in front of the camera for most of show. It's not until the finale where they actually put effort into "breaking" that 4th wall, and even then the novelty is ruined because it practically disregards any storyline being built up.
@daviemeister33552 жыл бұрын
Bro, I think you were just able to put into words, exactly how I felt about the show. This is EXACTLY how I felt, especially about the finale. Its a great start that they have started pulling from the comics more and more. However, they have run into another problem: just because something IS from the comics, doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t need a bit of rework, build-up, or even great writing. You can insert anything from the comics and just say, “HERE! You got what you wanted. Straight from the comics. Are you proud of me?” I have seen too many people defending the finale saying the exact same thing. They don’t seem to consider that even if it is from the comics, if it is done in such an awkward and jarring way that the writing, build-up and rework isn’t great, then it will completely fall flat regardless of IF it is from the comics or not. That’s what made early marvel great. They for example, kept the core of who iron man is, but they improved on his character and made him much more human. They made the writing make sense and there was good build-up and a well thought out re-work to his character. Especially since apparently, iron man wasn’t as popular as he was as a comics character before his first live action debut- according to some comic book readers. THAT is how to adapt from the comics because there will exist times where even the comics doesn’t always get everything right. This is where great writing, well-thought out reworks, and creative and excellent build-ups from the writers is required.

I was a toddler in the '80s, when focus-grouping started becoming all the rage, so I've heard that line all my life. I always like the female characters in the cartoons I watched. Cheetara, Penny Gadget, Teela, She-Ra, Jem (Yes, I enjoyed shows where a female was the lead hero.), etc. Outside of maybe a few moronic viewers who still had the old "girls have cooties" mentality, boys don't view girls as some kind of gross threat.
@wildheartrazorfang62 жыл бұрын
I think this show would've been better if they just committed to Jen being a confident comedic lawyer breaking the fourth wall, but if they wanted to make it mile a minute cameos and complaints with references and trolls, this could've worked really well as a Gwenpool show. Gwenpool is a character that's always aware of the meta and media around comics. She actively fears her series being canceled and goes to ridiculous lengths to stay relevant. They could use these toxic fans as a way to reflect on her self-worth, with her being afraid of ruining her chance in the spotlight. Rather than just having Jen be mad and not do anything about these guys other than say ew, Gwen would put up a facade to the camera and the fans, but this says something about her character. It spares the budget of the CGI, it spares the lack of legal knowlegde, and it's a newer character that might face more hatred than She-Hulk. She-Hulk is normally a great character, there are snippets of good ideas in the show, but the two simply don't mix. As She-Hulk said herself, this isn't a reluctant super-hero story. She's just getting screwed over. If you liked the show, that's great. I just like scripting and I like obscure characters, so I thought to share a bit of how my mind works. Either way, I hope you have a good day, cuz your opinions are valid.
@dio93442 жыл бұрын
Damn! I actually forgot about Gwenpool and yeah, when you think about it, she is actually perfect replacement for She-hulk if they want to do meta humor and stuff. No need to have knowledge about complicated stuff like courtroom scenes and cameos/references won't seem out of place. It is also a more relevant character if they want someone that the audience could connect to because she is a comic book fan. Maybe they can change it to a MCU fan so she can hop between marvel movies/tv shows instead of comics.

I would highly recommend looking into her. She started as a variant cover design for when Gwen Stacy first became Spider-Gwen, but the community loved the design so much, she became an official character and the meta nature of her stories is meant to reflect that since she's a comic book fan transported into the world of comics.
@МолчаливыйКлинок2 жыл бұрын
I just imagined how in the 3rd act, Gwen would realize that people don't care about trolling the trolls and instead want fresh adaptations of their favourite comic books. No, things werent unproblematic, but you cannot demand of me to pretend like I *didnt* had a whole childhood full of countless strong and badass female main characters (who also were superheros) who turned into international phenomenons: PowerPuff Girls, Kim Possible, Winx Club (here in europe Winx Club was MASSIVE), Hannah Montana, Thats so Raven, Miraculous Ladybug (although that shows feminism isnt always healthy either) are the ones I remember on top of my head. But lets add Barbie, the fucking Disney Princesses, most of the Disney Channel had female protagonists when I was a child and all the other _very much existing_ female protagonists of other channels, movies, shows and and and, shall we? Oh, would you look at that! Feminist media wasnt invented 2 weeks ago it was very much already going strong over 15 years ago, who would have thought? Ah yes, ME, because I was there to _watch it_ which unfortunately means I am indeed aware of whats the difference between back then and today for the most part now: Back then female empowerment wasnt constantly produced as basically revenge porn even if the narratives were purposfully layed out in the girls favor. There is a massive difference between simply giving the female (main) character(s) the spotlight and whatever the hell kind of biased feminism we get today alot of times because apparently "female main characters/heros arent accepted and we must violently claw our unwanted way through the evil, evil men/boys with hardly a single good one among them if we dont make them drink Respect Women Juice first every single time". *Sorry* if I wasnt _supposed_ to notice that though. Please "feminist" Hollywood, go back to pretending like the first Wonder Woman movie ISNT a wildly beloved Superhero movie (most profitable superhero movie in 2017) simply because _it was a damn GREAT movie_ . Or WandaVision being an internet phenomenon until the ending lacked the quality of the former episodes and left fans disappointed in several ways but its still one of the most well beloved Streaming shows on Disney+ _because its a damn great and interesting show_ Its fine, I will wait here, continuing to rip into your cheap cashing ins on toxic feminism at this point while watching you use actual feminism as a fucking shield so you dont have to put in effort into writing, production and quality anymore to get praised into heaven. This sound like a ending that would only work over a much larger story that had something to do with a super natural being like a demon. Slowly ruining her life, slaying her friends and making it a living nightmare. Only to then restore everything back to the way it was before after defeating the demon, due to an angel or something like the dragon balls that will grant them one wish for their heroic deeds. 1:35 The worst part about this is that it acts like it’s the first to do this. Ignoring the beloved original She-Hulk comics themselves, there are still so many beloved female superheroes on and off the silver screen. As far as main characters in tv and movies, there’s Jessica Jones, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn (even though she’s not a super”hero” in the Suicide Squad). Talking deuteragonists, we have Black Widow (before her own movie), Scarlet Witch, Domino, Spider-Gwen, Gamora, Wasp, Many of the CW superhero women (though this one tends to have more mixed reception), and Zatanna. That’s all without even touching on the vast ocean of beloved female superheroes in the annuls of comic history. Hell, Carol Danvers is awesome in the comics, touching on a very interesting and engaging subject matter in Civil War 2 where she actually ends up being a villain. Her character and ideals are nigh-on solely responsible for that comic being my favorite storyline I’ve read. People love heroes of all genders, ethnicities, identities, and sexualities. Sure, you get your sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic trolls throughout the mediaspace, but they are simply the loudest, dumbest minority when it comes to consumers. She-Hulk is not some revolutionary step for women, it is - and only is - a monumental lesson in how not to plan, format, write, and execute a story.

I was really looking forward to Hulk and Abomination fighting once again in the MCU, but good God it was done in the worst way possible. Not going to lie, stuff like this is actually what fuels my inspirations of writing. I want to try to focus on ideas to flesh out my favorite characters in ways I think would be interesting instead just using them to push a political agenda unless it serves the plot and has nuance. For example seeing Skaar in this bland boring design it inspired me to come up with the grunge teen idea because it could lead to his iconic tattoos and long hair look.

God, I hated what they did with Abomination in this. Don't get me wrong, it was a bit funny at the start when I was pretty sure he was just putting on airs to get his parole but for him to actually be that... Don't have words for it. Because I remember seeing him in Shang Chi and thinking "Honestly, yeah, this version of Emil would probably be pretty affable so long as he gets a good fight every now and then." and thought that was the angle they were going with. I mean even him being reformed and getting into a fight with Bruce due to a misunderstanding could work because then you can have him have that mental moment of "wait a moment, I can get a good rematch with THE HULK right now." and leaning into the misunderstanding to satisfy his blood-knightness.

It was written so badly that you could not tell if this was a Marvel superhero comedy femiist show ment to empower women or a SNL skit that fell flat trying to make fun of feminist. They admitted did not know She-hulk or how to write trial lawyer show, and it shows. They admit that they purposely wrote the show to troll marvel fans about their bad writing before the show was shown by knowing what they would say about it being bad, when if the wrote a decent show there be no criticism. Sort made their self fulfilling prophecy come true by purposely writing a bad show that seemed nothing more than a complaining therapy section by the writers which included a self insert of themselves playing themselves in the show. They set out with the idea to fail for an inside joke that was not funny.

Tbh breaking the fourth wall ruined the whole MCU. If characters are now aware that they are just in a written movie or a TV show for mere entertainment takes away the whole excitement for events like Endgame or No Way Home. It immediately turns it all off. Deadpool could break the fourth wall finely because his movies were meant to be parodic in nature, but you can't mix that up with a saga that already has its genre well-defined, serious story. This is literally like turning season 3 of The Mandalorian into a musical, or adding Dora the Explorer to The Walking Dead. Whosever idea was to break the fourth wall in She-Hulk must be fired, they destroyed the continuity, ruined my favorite hero Daredevil, and wasted the opportunity to make a more interesting plot involving Hulk's family or his relationship with the Abomination. These people should come out and apologize for having cancelled the good shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher) to make space for this garbage instead. She Hulu did indeed deserve better.

It has always been about the story and the writing" There should be backlash when they made Waller thin. She never needed to be changed. She-hulk was watched because of the bad writing, and even in the show, as apart of the fourth wall breaks they admit the writing was bad. They even admit "we are going to retcon this and make the entire thing a dream sequence" They knew they would receive backlash for the poor writing, even adding it to the show. They purposely gave themselves plausible deniability to be terrible at making content that was good. They used gender to excuse what they already knew was bad. They even admitted it.

The fact that the show's writers looked at legit critics of their shows and merely deemed them trolls says a lot about their collective mentality. Last I checked, the whole point of a troll is that they only say dumb shit on the internet just to get a rise out of people for their personal amusement. That's a completely different guideline from someone who is simply offering constructive criticism to help the artists and their work. But alas, today's society being as woke, toxic, and narcissistic as it is, of course these writers would take a critic and an internet troll and mindlessly throw them in the same group, because according to them, any sort of criticism, no matter how valid or articulate, is seen as whatever sort of "istic" or "phobic" term they can come up with. Rather than simply bend the knee and admit that their writing needs some work, they make excuses and blame the fans.

She-Hulk has the power to literally move mountains, and the showrunners thought a cabal of pathetic manbaby trolls should be her ultimate nemesis. 🤦♂ If Marvel was dead set on using internet incells as antagonists, then I can think of two ways that concept would have worked better. 1 = Save the idea for Ms Marvel season two. Think about it. Ms Marvel is a girl, a minority, a Muslim, comes from a recent immigrant family, and takes her name from a hero that is already problematic with manbabies: Captain Marvel. Ms Marvel is also part of the social media generation, often being highlighted in the first season. In the first season, social media was positive about Ms Marvel. Let's have Kamala screw up during the second season, which causes a social media backlash. We can see how online trolling affects not only Kamala, but also the friends and family that are aware of her secret identity. The conflict could also keep the program more grounded and "street level", instead of Ms Marvel having to save the world from another dimension or an alien invasion or whatever The Clandestine were supposed to be. 2 = Reveal that Titania was actually Hulk King instead of Todd. I think the showrunners wanted to swerve the audience in the final episode. However, they were so focus on the K.E.V.I.N. punchline that they ignored their setup. It makes no sense to have Jen Walters complain about the villain getting the same powers as the hero if the entire season has been leading up to a bad guy getting her blood. That plot thread started from the very first episode, and was also comedically referenced with that wannabe vampire suggested that people might be after Jen's blood. I also hated how utterly pathetic Titania was as an antagonist. Not only did Jen knockout Titainia with one punch in her first ever fight, but their wedding fight went for barely ten seconds. At the very end, Titania was just live streaming Todd's arrest? WHAT!? A good swerve would have been if Todd was just the guy that built the Intelligencia website but wasn't actually a troll. Todd genuinely likes She-Hulk, and he argues against the Intelligencia members immature nonsense. In other words, I would have just made Todd an awkward creepy guy but not a jealous incell. I can personally attest that very often an awkward guy is just an awkward guy. Money can't buy swagger. Believe me. Todd was contacted by Hulk King. He'd says something like, "Somebody paid me a bunch of money to build a website for these morons. I don't need the money of course, but if someone is going pay me $50k for something I could make in afternoon, then I'm not going to turn him down. Hulk King invited me to the party, and asked if I would introduce the guest speaker." Eventually, after Jen stumbles into the Intelligencia confrence, Titania walks into the scene (or Kool-Aid Man's into the scene). Titania has the synthesized version of Jen's blood. She says, "I told you that this wasn't over Jen. Your power is finally going to someone that actually wants them, to someone that wants to do more than one-up her high school friends or twerking with celebrities in her office." As the Intelligencia men look on puzzled, Titania says, "You morons were so easily to manipulate. It takes marketing talent to convince teenagers to buy 12 different colors of the same body cream, but you manbabies were like shooting fish in a barrel. Because behind every pathetic lonely insecure man is a brilliant and gorgeous woman that knows how to use him for all he's worth." When Titania injects herself, she turns brownish green and she goes berserk, but her body parts are cartoonishly disproportionate. Abomination says, "Gamma blood affects each person differently. Do you think the government really wanted their super soldiers looking like me?" Titania-Hulk gets bigger and bigger and going on a rampage. Then we have Bruce Banner drop in, and the chaos leads to Jen stopping the episode and visiting Marvel Studios, complaining about excessive spectacle. I think this swerve is better because A= It doesn't toss away the blood theft plot, and the Hulk King isn't someone that was never a challenge for Jen. C= It solidifies Titania as the long-term antagonist, instead of She-Hulk's punching bag, a Lex Luger instead of Crazy Quilt. C = It implies that not just any person can become a carbon copy Hulk (which would also setup the future Red Hulk, Red She-Hulk, Amedeus Cho, etc.) D = It shows that just because a guy comes off creepy, it doesn't mean he is actually a creep. This franchise is based off comic books. How many comic book readers - girls and boys, men and women - are less like Regina George and Danny Zuko and more like Velma Dinkley and McLovin? E = It is a more effective way of feeding real world internet trolls. The series knew it could utilize trolling in the real world to its advantage just as Titania utilized Intelligencia to her advantage. Okay. That's my fantasy fiction. Thank you for reading. PS: I loved the "It's Raining Men" reference for Daredevil in your presentation, Ms J. 😆👏👏👏

The show in my opinion really proved the trolls right and it sucks. Really poorly written and poorly handled and sucks for a female character who deserves better than that.
