Ref hand painted pinstripes and lettering ,also airbrush work .The hot rodders use Neil Melliard for flames , lettering and pinstriping .

I believe its called a Chapman Strut when fitted in the rear suspension. First used by Colin Chapman in the Lotus 12. Excellent to see niggles in both Morris & Landcruiser - Oh what an unusual problem with the valve shims

Make sure your tank hose is lined with Viton B or better still Viton GLFT which is the better option for an Ethanol application 🙂 I have watched all 155 episodes all I can say is keep up the good work and what brilliant metal worker all .

Those reservoirs are beautiful, but if you are going to only have labels on their caps, please make sure the caps are NOT interchangeable - you can guarantee that at some point, if they can be fitted to the wrong reservoir they will be, and that introduces the risk of somebody then putting the fluids in the wrong reservoir. Different threads or sizes to prevent swapping the caps would be prudent if you are determined not to label the reservoirs themselves.

It's funny, the content is so good and detailed, that I make the effort to listen through the accent and technical terminology (it takes second to understand what they mean when they talk about the front inner scuttle panel for example). Then again, they'd probably have a hard time with my Trinidadian accent as well. But everytime I watch, I realise that I need to know this stuff. So kudos that I'm willing to work for the info!

Would love to see the progress on those Escort light units. I'm redesigning the front and rear light units of my Imp, starting from scratch. Originally I was going to just remake them as better quality copies of the originals, but it seems a shame to go to all that effort only for it to not improve on the original design. Curious to see how yours come together. Also, another vote for Bresco. They do a massive range of stuff.

Bruce has done my Lancia HPE, anodised aluminium as a wall mount. Excellent work. On fuel filler hoses, I used a wire-wrapped 51mm hose from CBS, no smells after 2 years.

I’m totally in awe of your perseverance and tenacity in solving the Landcruiser squeak, this would have broken lesser folk. Also E10 fuel is an absolute disaster all round, should be banned.

We had the same issues when hauliers started using 'bio diesel' in the Scanias. I worked at a Main Dealer and we had truck after truck stopping as the plastic mesh on the fuel pickup pipe in the tank warped and closed up. Scania had to come up with a TSI to replace them. I know other manufacturers had similar issues. Bloody eco terrorists ...

Re pin striping - have a chat with the folks at Hinkley marina (whatever its called to day), they should be able to put you in touch with a couple of the boat sign writers in the area.

I see some suggestions for pinstriping below, and I have certainly heard of Neil Melliard, but this year Dominic Chinea (BBC Repair Shop fame) had a signwriting guy with him at his Revive and Thrive stand at the Goodwood Revival. I think this signwriters background is circus type signs but he must do cars if he was at Goodwood. Dominic has a You Tube Channel also to get in touch with him.

ref pin striping, try Melliards Modern Pinstriping and also Mad Danny Pin Striping, they are a couple of guys I was speaking with for a project of ours which unfortunately got canned

Tell the guy who's polishing the shims, to polish in a figure of eight pattern! Never circles ! It evenly distributes the pressure variable naturally occurring in the human hand and wrist.

Glad you have changed the front plate on the Landcruiser, what size is it and who supplied it. I'm struggling to find a pressed plate to fit in an import sized recess.

The headlamps on the Escort look interesting. I think it's the same lamp on the Churchil Jaguar. So what is it? Detail point on Minor Threat - there is tape on the rear wheel-arches to prevent stone chips. That suggests you need a more permanent stone chip prevention, maybe a clear wrap would do it.

Another very interesting week. Pleased to hear that you finally found out what the noise was on the Land cruiser. Question on the Mk1 Escort, why is the fuel filler pipe entering the tank half way down its height? 🤔 Kind regards Paul from 48Spokes.

So there's a good fall on the pipe and it doesn't "back up" when filling. There's large vent lines from top of tank to the top of the neck through which air will escape when filling

@@retropowercars that makes sense. But when the tank is full, the filler pipe will have fuel in it up to the same level. Will that give you any problems when cornering at speed?

I don’t like the idea of a flexible union being so far below the static fuel level. A leak at the union could be a half tank of fuel in the boot before being found.

Pinstriping? Triumph motorcycles at Hinckley LE10 3BZ hand paint their fuel tank pinstripes (or they did) so maybe see if they can lend you their guys for a day in return for some advertising? After all you are only at LE10 3EF right?

Stratos front springs look like they'll coil bind in compression. Need fewer coils per inch. Landcruiser would've resolved itself eventually. Better to have found it though.
