I've had my hands on a lot of different GTI/R's and haven't got my my hands on a Great Falls Green yet. I want to do one so bad.

Turned out awesome. Think that's the same color of my son's GTI. I polished it last year. Really brought out the metallic in the paint and looked great in the sun. Great work!!

what product were you using to coat the gloss black grill? I have a similar gloss black grill that I want to coat but dont want to jam my fingers in every opening... thanks!

Same as I used for the paint, StonerCarCare Paint Ceramic Coating, as for the application is was just a swab. You can go on amazon or anywhere else and just search/find "Oral Swabs." Dab some product into it, apply, and then I had a trim tool wrapped inside a microfiber to help get in there to wipe off. Hope this helps!

Nice video👌 What pad and compound combo did you use? VW clearcoat is very hard, i polished my car but it was alot of work to get the defects out with the rupes coarse compound+ blue coarse foam pad and i was not satisfied with the results.

It depends how bad the paint is. Usually for german paint (VW/AUDI, BMW, etc) My #1 go to every time without a doubt is Koch Chemie Heavy Cut + Griots Orange Foam Cutting pad. I swear, I don't know what it is, but that heavy cut is SUPER aggressive, but leaves like next to 0 micro-swirls from cutting super heavy like you'd get from a microfiber pad + aggressive polish or wool. You will never go back to anything else. As for this car, it wasn't really super swirly and stuff, it was mostly just waterstains. So I used Griots Orange Foam Pad with 2 parts Meguiars M105 Cutting Compound to 1 part Koch Chemie Fine Cut. Might seem ridiculous to be mixing products, but the Fine Cut + M105 makes for a really good cutting polish that also refines quite a bit so the 2nd stage isn't as lengthy. For Refining, I used Rupes Yellow pad + 2 parts Sonax Perfect Finish to 1 part Koch Chemie Fine Cut. The Fine cut helps give the perfect finish more bite. Hope this helps, apologies for the lengthy response. Just wanted to be thorough with what I do/did to hopefully give you some better insight. I appreciate it!!

@ thanks! It will definitely help for next time. I got curious and looked up my DA polisher and found out it might be the issue also. Since im doing this as a hobby for my car and friends cars i bought the torq x fx10 since it was an affordable polisher. I find it to be very weak so i might not be getting enough rotation, it stalls alot even with very light pressure or on curves and edges.
@ccdetailing2 күн бұрын
That could definitely be the case, though still better than hand polishing lol. Could always go more aggressive on the product side to make up for the lack of power from the polisher though. Just a rule of thumb to remember if doing that, if you're cutting heavy, make sure you follow back and refine w/ a yellow pad + something like Perfect Finish. Other than that, if you're ballin' on a budget, a really solid budget polisher is Liquid Elements T4000 V2 ($200 via Obsessed Garage. I'd say this one is actually better than dang near every 5" polisher, competing even with Rupes). If that's still a little pricey, take a look at SPTA 5-Inch 125mm for ~$129.99. It's not the greatest, but I bought one in a pinch for overnight delivery when I had a 5" die on me, and I'm still using it, been 2 years. That's the 5" DA I'm using in the video. It'll give your forearms a work out after a long day, but it gets the job done without any issues!

@@ccdetailing Thanks for taking your time to answer my questions! Budget is becoming less of a problem, detailing products are an addiction lol. I recently started buying Carpro products and i see a huge difference in quality and time reduction over brands that i can just grab at the store. Im getting more and more interested in buying « the good stuff » . I will definitely take a look at that t4000 v2!

Just a little handheld mini blower/duster. I got it as a gift and I really like it. Thing does a great job too for what it is. If you just search on amazon or anywhere else Mini Blower, you'll find it.

1:100 give or take. I usually just eye-ball it in a foam cannon - around half as much as I would do normal car soap.

How much does a detail like this run?
@ccdetailing3 күн бұрын
It really varies based on your area, type of car, paint and it's condition, etc. But you could expect to spend anywhere between $1,000 - $2,000. Hope this helps!
