Haha I know exactly what “horrible high-gain profiles by respected makers” you’re talking about. I was surprised how bad they were. Great video very informative and those profiles sound amazing

In your opinion what profile makers did you not like? new to kemper trying to find great High Gain profiles thanks.

Havin' analysed the patent of the kemper to copy an amp. The goal is to find the eq curve after the amp and most importantly before the amp, by loop interation. You can mimic the process quite precisily with ozone match eq technique. It works. However, in tube amp the first stage is a tube in flat mode (no low cut). So in the case of the Brillant channel of say the AC30, even though eq (low cut) stage is before the gain, the first stage tube is still flat. If you play guitar direct in the amp => no pb, as the first stage tube is low gain. But, if you put a flat booster before the amp, it is another story. As you will overdrive the first stage tube wich is flat the sound will be gritty as the signal is full of bass before being lowcut just after and redistorted on the second stage. The kemper on the other side will assume that there will be a low cut eq on the input. So if you push the kemper with the flat booster, it will sound very different, eventhough output frequency curve matched and input curve matched. So I have still to hear a convincing kemper profile with a booster pedal in front. From what I hear, kemper sound almost identical on pretty everything except pushed amp tone with bright cap, like vox brillant channel or Hiwatt brillant channel. For those, Helix is more convincing
