Skenes is electric. I hope and pray that his arm will hold up. A pitcher who throws hard tends to break down, quickly and often. Guys like Maddox and Glavine hardly ever missed their turn because they were finesse pitchers.

Skenes became a starter in 2022 and has logged 285 innings which includes college, milb and mlb innings. He is a true talent and will on get better as he toes the rubber and goes through lineups. I think he is less likely to get injured than Strider because he is smaller than Skenes and has a more aggressive wind up than Skenes and had 513 innings when he went down. Alcantara is a better comp in my opinion, similar size and delivery to Skenes and he went 900 innings before going down. Of course Skenes could go down in his next start, but I think he plays for a long time before his elbow barks because his mechanics are solid and he has room to get stronger and conditioning at the mlb level is next to none (except maybe Japan).

The first few innings were impressive, but for a debut, it was pretty mediocre for how much credit he got. 7K's was definitely nice and you can tell he can easily rack up more I think the pressure got to him in his last few pitches.

I guarantee he does better next game. You could tell how nervous he was...and for good reason. The entire baseball world was watching that game and he knew it. If he controls those fastballs (which he has great control over, just not so much this game), he becomes almost impossible to hit. He pitches so many off speed pitches because when someone bats against him, hes throwing so hard that they basically have to watch for the fastball or they'll never catch up to it. That is such a lethal combination...but you have to be damn near inhuman to make it work. This dude is damn near inhuman.
