The brain tumor story literally made me cry. My daughter suffers from a condition called Neurofibromatosis and we recently found out she has an intraorbital optic glioma. Which is a type of brain tumor. I would anything to take this away from her and could have easily been suckered into buying anything that would "take" it away from her. I know this was a year ago so ignore this if it is upsetting or not relevant anyone. I think what these oil maniacs are trying to twist in their favor is that for some health conditions cortisol levels can be a significant cause or worsening factor. Theoretically lowering your stress would help, but aromatherapy alone is unlikely to completely lower it. But, even low stress levels do not stop or prevent everything and acting as if it does is beyond absurd. Everyone can feel desperate in terrible circumstances. If anyone is feeling that way though….then it would be better to read reams of double blind placebo tested medical studies that will give you cutting edge insights while still be accurate science.

Years ago we lost our best friends to Amway when we refused to monetize our relationship (“join the business”.) We had gone to the same church, raised our kids to be best friends, celebrated holidays together, and truly considered each other chosen family. But as soon as we said no, all that went out the window and they left our church-I’m guessing we were not the only church friends they tried this with. They finally left Amway, but not until going deeply into debt. By then we had moved to another state. The wife now has stage 4 cancer, and I’m sick about the years of love and friendship that Amway and it’s cult stole from us. My husband’s sister-in-law is deep-DEEP-into the Plexus cult. Her husband, my husband’s brother, also has stage 4 cancer. (I’m not making a connection between cults and cancer here, I’m talking about stolen time that families could spend together.) We are heartbroken on so many levels. MLMs are evil.

The Mom shaming for working outside of the house is so infuriating. I've had more than one person ask me if when I have a child I'm going to "cut down" on working. I'm a pediatric psychologist and spent SIX YEARS getting my PhD (on top of undergrad) plus a year of fellowship and just started my attending position this year. Also, I LOVE my job. It's really hard sometimes but it is so meaningful to me, and I know it'll make me a more patient, empathetic, and kind Mother. I'm already a caregiver to my partner's son who primarily lives with us, and he's the best. It's absolutely no ones business what I choose to do with childcare and working. My partner works for his family's business and has a super flexible job and can take more time away from work than I can. Not one person has asked him what he's going "do about work" when we have a child (and he has another child). I'm the primary breadwinner but some people still think it makes more sense for me to "cut down" on work than him just doing childcare drop-offs and pick-ups, etc. These MLM huns just perpetuate this inherently patriarchal notion and structure. They shame moms and are very much holding them back from contributing to the world in more meaningful ways than being plastered to their phones and trying to recruit people. This is especially hitting a nerve these days as we're planning to try to get pregnant within the next year, and my sister is a physician and her partner has more flexible of a schedule and she hears this all the time. Sorry for the long comment/rant. I just can't with this anymore. It's 2021. I thought everyone agreed collectively this mom shaming was nonsense.

I haven't thought about this recently, but coming from someone who has sold essential oils and literally have had inventory start to evaporate when left in a hot room too long. I was always super careful to store my oils in a cold dark space after that. In my opinion they are the worst MLM they should shut down and anyone who made a stupid health claim on their oils should go to jail
@m_n_a_b8 ай бұрын
@@afraaomar4682Unfortunately, the lie about health claims started at the top, with the shady founder. Everyone else just shared what they were told. Especially because of the placebo effect... they are told it works for something minor, so they try it and experience results due to their own mind thinking it will work... then they assume all of the health claims are true. So, they share it with everyone they know and before you know it, they have every oil in their house and are constantly putting oils on everything from cuts to thyroid to athlete's foot, etc. And then, when someone says they have an ailment, including cancer, they look it up in their big book of oils for every ailment, and share with that person that this is THE cure! Not realizing it is all total bogus and that it can't actually cure the other person. I've watched my sister in law try to save a relative who was dying from cancer, by slathering her in oils. Now, she didn't ask the relative to buy oils, she bought them all and gave them to the relative, because she is an absolute sweetheart, but it didn't work. Our relative passed away anyway. So, personally, having witnessed this first hand, I don't believe every person who made "medical" claims about the oils should end up in jail. Most just naively believe and do not mean any harm. They believe it works. No malicious intent, just misguided advice handed down like the telephone game.

My parents were divorced and at the time I lived in an apartment (the horror!). My best friend's mom would always try to tell her we couldn't be friends, often invite other friends over with comments like "why don't you hang out with someone better, like Courtney" IN FRONT OF ME, and the mom was visibly cold toward my mom. Like her being a single mom in an apartment made us so unworthy. I'm grateful my friend never made me feel less-than due to my family's finances or marital status. We ended up growing apart naturally but we had a really great friendship. Suck it, Mrs. Jones!

I spent a lot of time in entrepreneur circles and your "elevator pitch" is a really common thing. Basically, describe your business in a minute or less. I went to lots of legitimate entrepreneurship meetups that start with "introduce yourself and give your elevator pitch". Tldr: someone wanting to "practice their pitch" would not set off my red flags.

I use essential oils because they smell nice. I've heard that sniffing citrus essential oils can lift your spirits, and while I love the idea of them helping with mood and anxiety, even I as a herbalist, don't really recommend them as an actual treatment. I consider them more as a luxury because they are very expensive and I don't consider them to have actual healing properties. Most natural remedies have to be taken internally and since you can't consume them, I won't recommend them to any client. They are also not safe to use neat (undiluted) and since I cannot guarantee that my client will do this correctly, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I would rather my clients use ointments, balms and teas from sources I trust than let them believe that essential oils are safe and effective, because I don't believe that myself.

“I just thought I’d hop on here real quick” and say thanks Hannah! Your presentation and delivery are perfect. I also hope it helps those caught in the trap or about to be enticed get free. Keep up the good work!

Wow I got a panic attack flashback in the beginning of the first story! I used to install home security systems and we’d do the jobs on our own and for some reason I had a full on panic attack in this man’s house and I had to out to my car and I didn’t realized he went out after me and asked if I was alright. I wasn’t, I was a 19 y/o young woman in an unfamiliar place around unfamiliar people. He seemed nice but I couldn’t warm up to him, he was still very off-putting. My manager had to come help me finish the job and kinda shamed me while doing it. Maybe if they let us work in pairs normally, I’d be okay. My brother worked for the same company with me and my favorite jobs were the ones he could come help me with which were less than a handful. He taught without shaming and it always eased my anxiety to have someone with me. Sorry for the word vomit!! I love these videos, one came up on my recommended and listening to your voice helped me fall back asleep this morning. I try to go back to sleep after I initially wake up and I end up getting sleep paralysis and major anxiety. I have brief moment where my head was literally BUZZING so loud while I was half asleep so I couldn’t move but I kept focusing on your voice and was able to get past that. Now I get the joy of rewatching and listening fully awake as well! Thank you!! Also I never really realized Cutco was a damn MLM!!! I almost got suckered into joining this company that sold life insurance policies. If I was able to get other people to join in, I’d get a cut of their sales and blah blah blah….. I ended up with a life insurance policy for a few years that I absolutely didn’t need 😬

'It's all about changing your mindset' Honey, I could pee in a bottle and spend the next few weeks telling myself it's apple juice. It's still just pee.

Alternatively, the huns child might be learning how to be a better liar. When I was in school, we had two sets of parents tell their kids they couldn't be friends. They both just lied about who they were with, instead.

That Monat hun that was insulting the neurosurgeon was infuriating. She was actively trying to worsen the healthcare personnel shortage. What abhorrent behavior. I would not have been able to hold my tongue when the mom-shaming happened. I would have told her that even the lowliest members of society contribute much more than her and her hair-care pyramid scheme. I would have also pointed out her sexist outlook on parenting. My goodness these people are turds on the table of society.
