I have been getting some comments questioning the validity of the 3rd story - I hear you, and I don’t disagree. I will absolutely be addressing this in detail in Horror Stories 29. Until this point I have always (perhaps naively) given people the benefit of the doubt as to the truth of their stories. It wasn’t until I started receiving comments on this video that it even crossed my mind that the 3rd story may not be true. And please know, the story may be true and I don’t intend to invalidate anyone’s experience. With that being said, it is of the utmost importance that the integrity of my channel is upheld and that I am only sharing factual and useful information in my videos. This has opened my eyes to some changes that need to be made and I’ll talk more about it in my next Horror Stories video. Please know I would never intentionally mislead anyone or share false information in my videos. I appreciate your understanding and support ❤️ EDIT: I have been in contact with the writer of the story and she has provided me with more confidential details/evidence to support the truth of her story. Although it's a truly shocking and horrifying experience, I do believe the story is true based on my conversations with the writer.

It's not your fault for being trusting. That particular story just had so many red flags. Like apparently she was breaking the law and facing charges but wasn't arrested on the spot and was able to get to OPs hospital room? Hopefully the fact that people are sending you emails and could, theoretically, be questioned will make them less likely to lie and this was just a one off. Sorry you're dealing with this when what you are ultimately trying to do is reveal the truth.

In a lot of jurisdictions, a contract signed while intoxicated would be regarded as legal, but voidable. So basically, you may be able to later repudiate the contract on the grounds that you were intoxicated when you entered into it, but as you point out, that could be difficult to prove.

Hannah, a life hack for you: most household oils will dissolve sticker residue. Any cooking oil, olive oil, mineral oil which is food-safe. Much cheaper alternatives but I think that implying that this is a harmful chemical because it dissolves sticker glie is bad and can be used to "prove" you don't know what you're talking about. One thing that baffles me is that essential oils are concentrated extracts and they are usually diffused in base oils for use. So it's super wasteful to use on sticker glue and also an insane idea to just basically ingest straight. Even if it's edible (some essential oils are toxic btw), it would taste horrible!

I was unfortunately part of the Amway cult for a few years in the 90's. The makeup and skin care products were high points items and were pushed pretty heavily. The makeup parties were called "beauty breaks" and we were encouraged to buy the sample kits and host as many as we could since they would really boost your PV. Of course the kits were very expensive, and you would be constantly needing to resupply them which is the real reason they would want all the women to buy them and do beauty breaks.

I had heard the buz that oils could help. I sought out an oil hun. She was so nice and kind as I sat in her home bawling my eyes out. She pulled out her oil bible and mixed me several options. She was so nice she did not charge me anything. I think she was hoping that I would be back as a regular customer. I tried all the potions religiously for 3 months. I saw no difference in her behavior. I told this hun and she truely felt bad for my situation and never charged me anything. I was at a very low point at that time. The car wreck story chills me to the bone, I’m sorry you had to go back and ask her if it was true, but I’m glad we got the confirmation that it was, because that story is truly revolting and it shows just how far someone will go when they’re in an MLM. You always say “people wouldn’t behave this way if they weren’t in an MLM” and this story is the PERFECT example of that.

Since it's teacher appreciation week my mother has been getting gifts from her students. Apparently, one of the moms is a seller for Paparazzi and gave all the teachers a necklace with some "care instructions." The Care instructions basically said: "Avoid the 5 S's: Do not sleep, shower, sweat, swim, or spray (hairspray/perfume) in your jewelry. Do not use jewelry cleaner and clear nail polish can help prevent discoloration." She also gave a pamphlet on how to join her "team." My mom felt bad about it but she's not planning on wearing the necklace.

as an autistic person nothing grinds my gears more than essential oil huns trying to say their oils will somehow "help" with autism. sure, lavender can be calming during a meltdown but only really for the smell, any smell that someone finds comforting would suffice for them. but the bigger issue i have with it is the idea that autism needs to be fixed or alleviated somehow. its so subtle and so common it almost flies under the radar but its one of the most ableist things i think anyone could say or think and i hear it an alarming amount from mlm reps. it shouldn't be a thing of "how do i stop my kid from being autistic", it should be approached as "how can i help and understand my kid and get them any accommodations or support they need to avoid severe distress/meltdowns". they still see autism as a disease that needs a cure as opposed to a disability that should be accepted and accommodated for.

The mom of a friend of mine is in an mlm and literally keeps telling him, her own autistic child, that her mlm diet and supplement shit can "cure autism" and stuff like that. Needless to say that we constantly make fun of it when she's not around, but proably also needless to say that he's quite hurt by that behaviour. I hate that this mindset in so engraved into many neurotypical's brains, seriously. Stop wanting to alter the literal wiring of our brains, let us be and alter the circumstances around us that aren't autism friendly instead of us ffs, that would at least actually help. But sadly for many it isn't about how to help accomodate us, but how to make us the least of an inconvienience to them

About 7 years ago one of my trans friends considered becoming a Mary Kay rep, but after going to a training class, we were both VERY uncomfortable. There was clapping, and accolades, all the women empowerment talk. It felt super cult-y. I was just there to be supportive, she wanted someone she was comfortable with to go with her because she wasn't super comfortable in new women only spaces yet (we met through roller derby). I am glad we both walked away unscathed.

From being in an MLM I know that one of their tactics is called the 5 touch rule. At least 5 was our limit. Once you make a new friend wait until you touch them 5 times before you ask them if they'd be interested in your "business". A touch is a handshake, a hug, anything where you make physical contact with them. For online friends there was a little longer amount of time before you brought it up. MLM's make you make friends for your business, not for you.

For number 6: I don't see a moral obligation to pay her back--she pressured and coerced a 17-year-old into a debt when you told her you didn't have the money. She was an adult and this is an entirely foreseeable outcome.

im so thankful to see such kind trans women tell their stories on your channel. I'm nonbinary so i don't relate to Anne's journey exactly, but i understand certain pieces. knowing she was preyed on is truly so heartbreaking. i think its because i relate a LOT to her (i'm also autistic so making friends for me has been really hard to navigate)

I feel deeply for the person in story #5. It's the most insidious and infuriating part of MLMs to me. I don't hardly trust people anymore to not see me as a sale. Making friends as an adult is so hard and it gets even worse when huns are out there looking for a sale or a new recruit.

I went to a craft show this weekend with my mom and every other booth was an MLM. How are your oils, ugly leggings, and wax melts that you DIDNT make, a craft?!? There was a lady directly across from a Scentsy hun who was actually selling her own homemade wax melts and I made sure to go check her stuff out 😂

These oil huns pushing people to drink the oils is so concerning. I work in a store that sells essential oils, my boss is a nurse who is also trained in aromatherapy, she tells us to make sure people know NEVER to ingest essential oils. The only one we okay for that is peppermint oil and it’s a drop on the back of the hand to lick to open the nasal passage. Also if they’re like tea tree where people apply it to the skin we have to tell them to always use a carrier oil or cream, never just straight onto the skin. There’s also oils we can’t let people with things like epilepsy, high blood pressure or pregnant people use! These untrained huns are pushing dangerous claims about their oils and I can’t stand it Edit: please don’t use oils on anyone with autism!!!! My sister has autism, their senses are more sensitive and all it does is give them headaches ugh
@tezzanoia2 жыл бұрын
Some autistic people actually do like oils and their smell, a friend of mine has a few different ones in his box of stim tools. BUT for many it can 100% be a sensory nightmare, you're absolutely right (I tend to taste strong smells and usually it's horrible). And for sure essential oils won't "cure" autism lmao. Thanks for speaking out for us autistics and helping to spread the word that we do not need essential oils pushed on us by anyone
@lizzyaine32932 жыл бұрын
@@tezzanoia oh absolutely! I can fully understand that. I just mean don’t use them because they think it’ll “cure” them. It bothers me how many parents or otherwise well meaning people want to “cure” their child’s autism or listen to autism speaks crap. Personally I have ADHD and I love oils but my sister who has autism hates them so I never use them around her.

As someone is LGBTQIA+ also, it makes me so angry that this MLM hun really manipulated that person's loneliness and longing to fit in. Here in the UK I think we have less MLMs but it's still around and honestly, as someone who is quite lonely, I could see myself falling into one of these not for the money (not that there is money lol) but just for the sense of community it promises to provide. A friend from a community group who I hadn't seen throughout the pandemic actually reached out to me with her MLM last year or so and I can't tell you how excited I was to think that she was reaching out to actually do friend things rather than just recruit me. It really is hurtful and if someone is already lonely and/or in a bad place, that sort of manipulation can push someone over the edge.

Thank you for sharing a trans person’s story 🖤🖤 we’re not all straight, cis, or Christian/Abrahamic. Just pulled in on promises of community and inclusion due to “good values” even if there’s completely different religions. it’s really important to hear all people’s stories, as I used to be in exactly the same boat as Ann (in the cult way- I’m still trans and always will be. Transitioning back is very rare). And there’s so many of us. And how you didn’t treat her any differently from any of the other stories 🖤🖤🖤 blessed be and much love #PolytheisticNonBinary

For the writer of the clip #5 email, firstly I am so sorry that happened to you. I know how hard it is to make friends as an adult too and really felt your pain. If I might make a friendly suggestion, please consider doing some local volunteer work. Most communities have volunteer boards that can connect you with legitimate non-profits that need assistance. The worst case is that you get to do some fulfilling work for a cause you care about; the best is that you'll meet some new potential, like-minded friends. Best of luck to you!
