@sideshowratt -this is what happened to me. I knew nothing about any of this and, what I’ve come to learn were MLM “huns,” befriended me at one of my darkest points in life. I bought in. I truly thought I had made friends. All along I never “did well” in “this business” bc it felt viscerally wrong to do what they instructed. (What they had done to ME.) So, I “failed” and lost about 2k in the process. When I finally “gave up” …I had no more “friend” group. It left me in an even darker place than I was. Ever since- I’ve been studying the situation.

One time, I won a pageant where one of the prizes was sponsored by a monat rep. I got a huge basket of goodies. I didn't try it the first two weeks and got a message from the rep: have you tried your products? I said no not yet and she said: "Well, you were supposed to use them for two weeks and either buy them or SEND THEM BACK. If you had opened the basket you would've seen my note." The products were so expensive she couldn't afford to give them away she just wanted us to try them for 2 weeks and either pay for them or send them to her. They were not a gift. She never told the pageant director this. I sent them to her unopened , shipping was COD.

"Never be done." It's okay for things to end. I played trombone for seven years. I stopped enjoying it and moved on to a different instrument. That's okay. I made a podcast. It has 18 episodes and it's done. That's all I wanted to make. I worked at this facility, implemented some new things, gave them the guides, and then left. That's okay. Sometimes you can just do a job or a hobby and then be done when you have lost interest or found something new.

They are not only PREYING on a friend at one of the most vulnerable times in her life but they are lying! Then as if that wasnt sleezy enough, that witch * with a B will then take her $$ for a F@c&ing fee!! Think about that people!! 🤯You have lied to her with an income claim that she could make money that day and then took money from her to have the life changing chance of selling their products and also recruit!! This is so slimey, so disgusting! How can any of these huns look at themselves in the mirror?? The hun that told her downline that God put her there on purpose to lead them????? You hit the nail on the head: MLM reps have to micromanage shallow conversations with strangers on a daily basis that are merely disguised sales pitches, and are taught to view every person as a potential source of revenue-a mark. This sort of activity will most directly appeal to people whose personality traits tend toward fake-friendly, manipulative relationships intended to benefit themselves. This is a business model tailor-made for narcissists and those on the antisocial PD spectrum. The training seen here is quite explicitly a lesson in how to exploit others. Grifters ‘R’ Us. It is VILE that MLMers try to claim that this is about empowerment. It is about predation.

It's crazy how these lists keep getting longer. When I was scammed into joining an MLM several years ago, there was NO talk of recruitment BEFORE I signed up (which sounds ridiculous, considering that I WAS GETTING RECRUITED). My upline called me once, asking me to make a list of 10 people. I was like, "Sure, Jan". She called to follow up and I said I wasn't gonna do that. She called a third time, telling me that I was assuming people wouldn't wanna join. So I stopped taking her calls. Forever. Deleted from social media and from my phone.

I do still have bad memories of my 3ish weeks with Primerica…and that was 10 years ago. They made me feel bad because I was friends with a lot of people who were highly educated but just starting their careers so not very wealthy lol…ie not willing/able to get into what Primerica wanted to do. Did I also mention I was a cold call? I had no clue what an MlM or a pyramid scheme was…I had a tiny bit of exposure to Avon growing up (perfume and soap) but that was it. I feel bad that I was almost preying on my friends, but it turns out that I was the primary one being preyed upon as no one (thankfully) was interested. I did invest with them, and actually made quite a bit in investments (for me at least)but had to stop and withdraw when I became sick and needed some cash.

Having worked in a legit company for 7 years, one thing they have in common with MLMs is the lack of understanding about unchecked growth. With MLMs it's recruitment but with companies it's money for shareholders. They never had a maintenance mindset it was always "more money more growth more more more" which is also really toxic. As my coworker put it: the only naturally occurring unchecked growth is a cancer. These companies are trying to mimic cancer. Anyway love the video as usual! These huns are yikes 😬

I’m a health junkie and I find it funny when Monat reps try and tell me their hair products are the most natural stuff on the market. I’m like I know several brands that use organic flowers and herbs, oils and essential oils in their shampoos. These brands are as natural as you can get w/o making it yourself. Their also way cheaper just even tho they are imported.

This call just proves that their claims of "time freedom" is false. I have a degree in public relations and have done social media for a lot of organizations. This lady, saying you can write 100 people within minutes, would be shocked when she saw me struggle to write down 75 people for my wedding invite list. Small family, and close knit friends = A very small network of people. I always wish people joining MLMS would really consider that affiliate marketing would be so much more beneficial. Because it’s not like the MLM is making people appear from thin air. As they would like you to expect. You either have a huge network of people to sell to / recruit. Or you don’t. And most people, luckily, hopefully, have a large enough moral compass to know not to do it regardless.

'And what if all your closest family do join you?' well the general pattern for that is they lose money, or hair, then slowly start to push your out of their lives until one day mid your 48th 'team call' of the week you pull up Facebook and realise the cousin you conned into joining this scam got married on the weekend and no one invited you let alone told you and you're calling your mom crying while she tries to very calmly break it to you that no one wanted you there because all you do is talk about your shampoo. That's what happens next.

These people never think about HOW they are going to make all this money off of the people they're closest to. That money doesn't just appear out of thin air. It comes from those other people you love, who can't afford to lose that money but do anyway. They lose it to YOU, and these other scummy people in your upline, and have to struggle just as hard as you do to try and make any of it back. And they fail. Just like you. It's an awful cycle of being ripped off by a company that then teaches you to rip off other people in order to make anything at all.

I’m so happy I got out of Monat 😂 such a disgusting business model and what they stand for. Can’t believe I use to Stan for this 😓 twice! But now I’m anti MLM now and I’m happy I finally realized and know what truly MLM’s are. Hannah I would love for you to react to what Monat is doing right now 😊 they are focusing on recruiting more now than ever lol they are truly revealing that they only care about recruiting than the products 😂

What gets me about that training call is that this is TERRIBLE sales advice. This is not how you do sales. This is how you drive off customers and actually ruin your product reputation. The reality is that if you tried to follow her advice in any other sales setting, you would never sell anything.

Right! The hilarious thing is these sales tactics are exactly why MLM’s have the reputation they do of being laughable and predatory. No one wants the products as much as the huns in them do. The fact that they don’t get that they are the very reason there is anti-MLM and ‘haters’ is just 🤯

Eek. This is almost word for word the way I was taught to evangelize the gospel as a kid… the “it takes seven times for someone to respond” and “the seed is planted and later on you reap the fruit” Talking to their “pain points” is a basic advertising practice used in every industry, not just MLMs. As is “overcoming the objection” It just goes to show how some of the same tactics are borrowed from religion to sales, to MLMs.

I’ve recently fallen down the anti-mlm hole and have been watching your videos like crazy! I have already watched all of Savannah’s and Deanna’s videos, as well as a few from other creators and well..my sister has just moved back in with my family.. She’s been in many MLMs, Color Street and melaleuca currently, pampered chef, partylite, Nerium and I think a couple others over the years (I have honestly lost track). I’ve had to almost watch these in secret now, but let me just tell ya, I really appreciate the work you do with these. I’m curious if anyone is in a similar position and how or if you were able to get through to your loved ones? It almost feels like she’s too far gone, talking about living a chemical free lifestyle and using essential oils for everythinggg, especially for her kiddos. (There’s so much more but it’s a bit personal to delve into.) I don’t know what to do aside from tell her I love her and not buy from her.

Hi Hannah, I started out watching your Poshmark videos that I absolutely love. Now I love watching these videos too! I am currently an inactive Mary Kay consultant lol. I had moved into a new city a little over a year ago and got hooked up with a sweet older lady through a “welcome to the neighborhood” package. I have nothing bad to say about the lady, she doesn’t hassle me and she’ll even go out of her way just to check on me and offer her help. But all their tactics are the same lol. I had just given birth to my 4th baby and she offered me a facial over zoom. That’s where they got me lol. Even after saying like I just had a baby and I don’t have the time . Anyway now I just order for myself and my mom at my consultant price😃

Maybe everyone that says no to a mlm rep should say "No thank you (I mean no and don't mean not right now)". Be nice and let them know that they're gonna be wasting their time trying again. Especially for the people that don't buy mlm products and the people that aren't willing to pay the overpriced (even with the discounts) mlm product prices.
