What stood out to me was how unprepared and disinterested the person seemed to be honoring people who’ve given five years of money and dedication to the company. It wasn’t even remotely important to him. Side note, I am so happy for your and your family! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is easier from here on out!

Thank you! I thought the same thing. Wildly unprepared for a call that's supposed to recognize accomplishment in the company. And all the urging to 'shout out names' in the comments... isn't that what YOU'RE supposed to be doing, as the one hosting this call? So unprofessional.

I totally agree! I also thought it was weird he was saying “congratulations on x number of years” when most companies say “thank you for your service and dedication”. Like they take advantage of their reps more than any other industry and then give them a congrats instead of a thank you! I guess they’re trying to reinforce that idea that “this company saved me” 🙄

The 10, 15, 20, 25 year clubs tell me everything I need to know... 1) new sales reps would be competing against thousands of people who have been building teams for over a decade. 2) sales reps could work for over two decades and still not make enough to live above the poverty line. Sounds like a saturated market with little upward mobility due to timing.

The other morning my husband told me a co-worker makes $9,000 selling thrive 🙄😳 luckily I am a faithful anti- MLM content viewer, so I was easily able to explain just exactly why that was a complete lie. I ended my speech with “Babe if he made that much PER MONTH why would he still be coming to work with you? Because he loves the place? Yeah no, it’s because that’s a complete lie. He then when on to talk about this coworkers posts and how he does all these lifestyle posts and the such and both just had to marvel at the fact he is giving credit to things done and bought to a company when in fact he is able to afford what he buys simply because he actually does have a good paying 9-5. 😬😬😬😬😬😬

I empathize with the people getting recognized by someone who sounds so disinterested. I went to a conference for my job and watched the recognition ceremony. They failed to recognize my 15 years. When I got home I messaged them and they said oh sorry, we'll do it next year. 🤣 I left before next year came.
@punchdrunkassassin
@punchdrunkassassin Жыл бұрын
That happened to me too. It was my 5 yr (in the industry I worked in, that was a lot of time in one place as there's usually a lot of movement). It was a company of less than a hundred people, spread out over a couple of offices, and every year they did these recognitions during the staff xmas party. As you can imagine, it's a fairly small handful who get recognised each year. I was actually pretty stoked, I waited... and my name was never mentioned. It kinda ruined the rest of the party for me. I super awkwardly brought it up later, and got a surprise Pikachu face. I eventually got my plaque - "presented" to me at the satellite office I worked at, in front of only the two coworkers who I hated (because they kept trying to get me fired). Everyone else was on lunch break. No part of it was special in any way. That broke me. I did so much for the company, and they straight up forgot I worked there, then did the very bare minimum to make up for it. I quit not long after that and found a new career. I agree with you, watching that video definitely brought back some awful memories.

Good for you, 15 years of 8 hours a day of your life, 5 days a week is a lot of time, and even though you get paid, it’s still nice to feel valued and appreciated for your contributions, so good for you for recognizing you weren’t valued enough where you were, and moving on. Now if we could only get all the MLM promoters to recognize this as well, general mental health would likely improve lol 😊

Hey Hannah! I was with Young Living at one point in time, just to purchase the product, not make any money. However, I will say that everyone I came in contact with that was “working the business” was encouraged to make two orders every month in order to get doubles of the “freebies” for that month. In order to get all of the freebies that month you had to have an order of $300-400. So essentially they would be spending anywhere from $600-800 per month and only making $200 as a Silver rank 😕

17:20 "They do not pay people to go out and promote their product. In fact, YOU pay THEM to become their free advertising." 🔥YES. This is the piece that always seemed so unfair to me when my mom was in an MLM. Basically the company gets free labor for all the time the MLM rep spends in networking and talking about the product. So even if the rep hypothetically ALWAYS got customer orders for their PV and never spent their own money on products, it's still a bad deal. There's a fair market value for activities like posting on social media about a brand, and reps aren't even getting paid minimum wage for this. They're getting paid $0 for all the time they invest in finding customers and recruiting people into their downline. It's sickening.

As I’m watching the underaged girl spew memorized information about “how great her hair is” I’m reminded of several videos back where a beauty pageant winner wrote in and they joked about having to chop their hair off after a year of using sponsored Monat hair products. And what will that do to her self esteem at such a young and impressionable age? What if her hair turns to straw and she has to chop it off but she doesn’t like the way she looks with short hair? It breaks my heart to think of the many consequences to help her mom make (but really lose) a buck. I worked Pampered Chef and was a Young Living member/customer and I never involved my kids. It was before I knew they were scams and toxic. BTW, don’t know if I mentioned it before or not, but thank you for your channel! I found Chelsea’s channel because of you, too. I have since ignored the fear mongering and left YL. I no longer lose $50-$100 a month making minimum orders with oils coming out of my closet everywhere. I love the smell of oils and love diffusing them or wearing them as a perfume, but I’m not longer tied to an MLM company with harmful fear mongering and money sucking tactics. I just use oils where I find them and only buy them when I need to (which won’t be for a LONG time! lol).

The rescue gel picture has 12 steps of 21 bottles, possibly an additional 21 more on the top step and a 13th step that has maybe 14 bottles for a total of 308 bottles. Those 308 bottles at $17 each mean this person wasted a whopping $5,236 without taxes or shipping. However, the top step turns to the left which means that the first step after is a landing so there is possibly an additional 10-12 lines of those bottles that we cannot see. So another 210-252 bottles for a total of 518-560, which means $8,806-9,520 was wasted. Whoever that person is they got caught up in the F.O.M.O event pushed by the company and bought way more than what could be sold or used. I do feel for them because that money could have been used to do so much more.

Young Living's income disclosure is nuts. The fact that the median income overall is $0 and the average is $276, despite someone making $3.1 million a year, really shows how much of a time waster MLMs are. Seeing those numbers and their own income be nothing for years, but still sticking it out, means they must have an astronomical amount of persistence. It's too bad they aren't applying that to something that benefits them.

You're 100% correct! I absolutely jump at the chance to support my friends endeavors (music, business, etc) and other small businesses. That does not include mlm's though! In the past, I definitely purchased from an mlm, sometimes unknowingly, but I was more naive and less educated. I no longer support mlm's and haven't for a long time. They are a large corporation, more similar to Amazon than a small business. That girl is just absolutely delusional 🙄 and ps - I would not have known you didn't feel well if you didn't say anything. No apology is ever needed! Your content is always top notch 💕

During the mlm post about the ads/commercials from celebrities I thought the whole time: "I think most people know that commercials are more or less scripted and that the celebrities may not use these products. But most importantly the celebrities get paid for these ads!!"

I'm glad you're taking time to be gentle with yourself! These people deserve so much better! The "recognition" there is such a joke! They deserve to be fairly compensated for their efforts and energy AND actually appreciated and treated like people. I hope they get out but for those stuck in for DECADES I imagine they must be so indoctrinated ....

I recently realized that my mom bought two microfiber cloths that my cousin bought through a coworker of hers (they're nurses at a regional hospital). I went to check and they were from Norwex. My mom had given the second cloth to my SIL--but the way my mom kept showing us how amazing it was to use on glass felt like I was watching an informercial or something 😅when I told my mom that it was a MLM, she didn't understand what that meant (which is understandable), but it's cases like these where I'm glad my mom didn't buy anything else from them. I don't think my cousin realizes this too, but I highly doubt she'll believe me that her coworker sold her MLM products.

I will never forget visiting a friend of mine once we were both out of college. I was an Assistant moving towards graphic design and was surprised to learn that my friend didn't have a job but had hopes of being a model. This was back before social media was big, so being an influencer was not on the table. Get a car and was finishing up learning, and when I asked her what kind of car she was going to get she proudly told me that she had joined an MLM and was banking on gaining the status that earned her a car. She would not hear anything about it. In her mind. That was her only plan to afford a vehicle, as her modeling career was not going well. To my knowledge, as of right now, probably almost 15 years later, she works at a summer camp. I am now the creative director of that company. I started out as an assistant in. No hate to her or anything, but I know she had to learn a lot of hard lessons She was not willing to hear at the time.

Glad to have a new video to watch this morning! It kills me to see people wrapped up in MLMs working so hard for what has to be nothing. Saw something new-- a young living back with a clear window display on the back showing items presumably for sale by the person wearing it. I guess that backpack turns her whole Saturday into a pocket of time to work versus time to spend with your family or taking a break.

This happened 15 years ago (so no social media). One of my former classmates mom was an Avon Lady (she did have normal day job, this was only side “job”). And she send her daughter to school with a catalog to sell us makeup. We were 12 (15 years ago, it wasn’t normal for us to have full makeup on, we weren’t even allowed to wear makeup in school, the obvious one at least). And if she didn’t sell us enough, her mom constantly told her how disapointed she was, and how she can’t buy her whatever treat she liked at the time, because she don’t have money because of her, etc. Lets say, classmate moved out at her 18 birthday (while still in school) and they don’t talk anymore

For the young living anniversaries, it was very telling to not see any members from the top two ranks listed on those slides. Not ONE person whose anniversary fell in the month of October could show that after 5+ years, or even for their entire 25 year tenure, they've made it to the very top. 🤦🏾‍♀️
