When twilight became a alicorn, it felt earned, all the trials she had gone through before that led to it. When sunny became a alicorn it did NOT feel earned. This show feels like a blatant attempt to cash in on G4s relevancy.

Every generation of mlp has a reboot. With each new reboot being its own thing and it’s own universe. Why they bothered to make this a sequel to G4. Not only that, but make it a poor man’s version of what came before it. Will never make sense to me.

They tried to make this a sequel to G4 because of money. G4 is, by a wide margin, the most successful iteration of the MLP series, so it makes sense from a business standpoint to continue that continuity. Unfortunately, the people who made G5 had no idea what made G4 so popular.

It is so boring. I lost interest after the movie. I thaught it would be a new land. You know, with new characters and new Villains and magiska creatures and maybe a new Spike. But this is dissapointing. I miss the Dragons. I think Dragons are cool. But the is only one Dragon, and he is a baby

I've always seen 3D animation as a cheap "easy way out" method for film companies to create something seeing as it's pretty obvious the gap in quality between the movie and the show. G4 had found the sweet spot using flash rig style animation being cheaper and more efficient than traditional without losing too much quality. 3D animation on the other hand seems to have a direct relationship with budget and quality. It's only as good as the amount of money you feed it.

G5 is literally an unplanned mess. The writers would constantly add in plot elements and retcon them a sesson or even episodes later. I would have rather gotten the g4 race swapped in a new world than this trash

It stinks that its finally finding its footing around chapter 4 for Hasbro to focus on Tell your tale instead just as the series was getting goot to decent... but G5 really isn't having the same impact G4 is and arguably still is having right now G4 is still having fan made content and fan art being made about it and arguably is having a second revival oddly enough by G5 but with the whole nostalgia thing

Remember how in The Cutie Map we saw how losing your mark was something painful and actually could take part of your magic, making you average and miserable? Essentially losing a part of your soul. Or it entirely. Well, move out Starlight because that spell that you learned could be done by a dragon SNEEZE.

It’s so strange that izzys VA wasn’t hired for the series because before the movie came out she was already voicing a character in a different Netflix series (Horse from Centaurworld) I don’t like izzys new va either, way too different

I’ve only seen the movie since I never watched gen 4, and all I can say is that if you want a talking animals movie that tackles racism and is actually good, Zootopia’s your best bet (although MLP: A New Generation also works if you want a kids’ movie with themes on ethnic cleansing)

Am I the only one who has a problem with how basically all the characters have the same body color? Two purple, two orange and one white. While in FIM each character had a distinct color. Pinkie pink, Dash light blue, Twilight lilac, Rarity White, Fluttershy light yellow, and AJ light orange.

I was a fan of g4 and was excited to see what g5 would bring. I thought they learned that mlp could appeal to any ages but I feel like they forgot what made g4 so special.. I really liked the first movie, thought it was basic but it was fine for me. I was in the boat. BUT THE SHOW, OMG THE SHOW! I didn’t expect so much but this was soooo bad. They destroyed All the characters. Sunny is now a basic protagonist with the only personality: recycling is good, be vegan, I am perfect. Hitch becoming a childish joke. Izzy being more crazy and annoying. Zipp is a stupid detective, like omg she just asks questions and doesn’t finds out about anything. Pipp being nothing more than a influencer. The show feels so shallow and besides the episode with pipp and zipp, nothing interesting happens and it lacks so much. Like the two last episodes was about the same finding stuff theme. People say they like misty but she is so anxious that she’s just annoying for me. There’s so much more I wanna say about this, but I’m just disappointed. I liked the movie, but the show just lacks

Like if Earth Ponies didn't have magic. AJ and the Pie Family have absurd physical strength. Pinkie has affinity to Chaos Magic and the powers of Toonforce on her side. But of course accepting your limits is bad in Gen Alpha media.

Well, while I still like the series... I do agree with several points you made. That was a pretty well-analyzed video. I guess my biggest issue I have is that... It needs more emotionally strong moments. Something Friendship is Magic was always known for. And this show... Severely lacks of. And yeah, I can understand budget restraints... But, there's a lot of fan projects that can do more with less. Maybe the show needs to take notes from them. So, yeah, for the next Chapters, I wish for more big and heartwarming moments.

While I do enjoy this series and personally I enjoyed it more than seasons 6-9 of g4, I do think your points are fair enough here and I’m glad that you can realize that this is just the start of it. Even a fan of this show, I still respect yours and everyone else’s opinions on it.

@@FuriousFanBoyAdventures In those seasons they pretty much changed the feel and direction of the series and I can’t stand it when any show does that, plus some characters acted in ways that they wouldn’t have in the early seasons. The show lost it’s charm and was just something else than what it started off as. While there were still plenty of episodes I enjoyed, there were also quite a lot of ones that I disliked or hated, as well as season 8 having my least favorite episode of the entire show. Hence why I feel it’s better for them to make gen 5 now instead of milking gen 4 any further to the point where it could’ve lost everything that made it good. I won’t stop anyone if they like those seasons, but to me they just weren’t the greatest.

@@thadmaster7 Idunno. It's the same tired old repeated points ad nauseum. The story is basic. The heroes are basic. The villain is basic. "Waaaa, i'm bored by this show made for four year old girls". Come on, G4 wasn't exactly War & Peace either. Hasbro are a children's toy company first and foremost. Their aim is to stay precisely within their lane of easily digestable children's media that serves as a promotion for their toylines. This has always been true historically speaking and it is no different now. Same as with other toy-based children's Western Animation. You're a what, 20-something year old man? I had an MLP phase too, but I grew out of it. If I was writing MLP and saw as many rabid adult men watching my children's show as I've seen in this fansphere I'd be creeped out, lol.
