I have two good reasons why Tom and John should fight ... By Dana's own words , first reason: the best fight the best. Second reason is that John faught older apponents in Stipe, Glover, DC ect. It's just fair that Tom gets to fight the older champ.
@edford335418 сағат бұрын
Exactly, if he holds the heavyweight belt at some point he has to fight the CLEAR no 1 contender who's beaten virtually everyone in the top 10 and been at the top of the list for years. Yea he doesnt owe anyone a loss but any belt holder owes the division that much, and thats even ignoring the whole interim thing. If you dont wanna fight him vacate the belt otherwise fight him or retire

Correction Cormier stipe and glover challenged him. He was the champ. None of those guys were headlining cards it's not the same comparison. Jones wants to make money. Fedor in his prime beat fighters much bigger than him, having a smaller size gives you a speed advantage. The problem is Jon is too old, slow, and washed up, and it showed in the Stipe fight. Stipe is a 42 year old firefighter that had not fought in 4 years, he looked terrible in that fight, and so did Jon. Jon if he is smart gives up his belt and retires, if he is stupid fights Tom Aspinall and gets knocked out in round 1.

Although Jones has nothing left to prove as far as I’m concerned, I would enjoy watching this fight if they do. But I also see the importance of not letting one’s self trust in the opinions, holistically speaking, of the fans & critics. On the one hand, if he beats Tom, people will clamor for the next upcoming shiny object. If he loses to Tom, Tom is a legend killer all of a sudden and Jon is old and probably needs to retire or whatever the new narrative will be. You can’t please ALL of the people, ALL of the time.

@realtalkw_darius1 There is no one else in the division for Jones. This idea that Tom is just another guy, having sparked out most of the top contenders in the first round is insulting. It's just the best excuse Jones and his team could come up with to duck him
@realtalkw_darius1Күн бұрын
@ Tom being ‘just another guy’, that I agree with. He’s a serious challenger, not just another guy. However, there are other fighters in the division. The discussion is about contenders who can actually pose a greater challenge to Jon. And the one challenger many people see and want to see as a good bout is with Tom. I don’t disagree. If he’s the next guy, and it appears he is as Dana stated, then that is the fight to make. But Jon isn’t just another champion either. Accusing him, without actual evidence, of ducking because he doesn’t see the value in the fight for his legacy, I think is ridiculous or short sided. He doesn’t owe us that fight. But I know many people feel like he does. My simple question is where does it end? He fights the kid, and he wins, what will the new narrative be? I already have ideas of what it will be if he wins or loses, but if he wins, will fans and critics alike be satisfied at his greatness? I sincerely doubt it. It won’t be enough. That’s what Jon sees and in so many words has alluded to. Again, would I watch if they do battle, yes. Do I need more ‘proof’ of his greatness? No. Can I be selfish about it as a fan? Yes. Will I be? No.

Why do people care so much about the fact that "we found someone to beat jon jones" and just glancing over the fact that he is holding the heavyweight belt. If you dont want to fight the best heavyweights in the world than dont hold that meaningless belt. Thats what being the champ means. To be the best and prove it. Tom has said it himself that he doesnt care about Jon
@9BallBory18 сағат бұрын
The champ means you beat the champ and you continue to defend it. It has nothing to do with who you fight next. He wants to fight Alex, why should he not? He just whooped the greatest HW of all time.
@micahrichardson964615 сағат бұрын
He literally JUST finished a fight he was scheduled for lol. How is he holding the belt? It may feel that way because of how much time passed but he got injured and had to recover. If he stays a heavyweight then yes he would fight aspinnall but he also has SD he doesn't have a problem retiring and would gladly give up the belt if required. He doesn't have anything more to prove to anyone lol.

Jones will never fight Tom, unless there's a ludicrous ammount of money offered. Tom is too fast, too powerful and too many skills. You can tell by the way Jones has spoken for the past year and a half, he knows he likely loses. More interesting question, how do you think Aspinall vs Ngannou would go? That would be a huge fight if Jones ducks, pay Francis the mega money for a lineal fight.

Nobody (yet) proofed Tom Aspinall's gas tank. All we're saying same things about Ngannou as the first who proved his gas tank was Miocic and Nganu failed the proof. If Jones keeps distance away from lucky punch Tom will be no danger in the champions 4 and 5 rounds.

Bruh Aspinall isn't the only heavyweight that can beat Jon LOL. Literally 90% of the heavyweight division will demolish Jon right now. There's a reason Jon fought Gane who has absolutely NO wrestling, who was submitted by NGANNOU OF ALL PEOPLE LOL. Jon knows that was the easiest win for him ever, he said it himself many times, Gane is the easiest matchup for him. That's also why he wants to fight Perierra, another strictly kickboxer like Gane who he can tackle and submit effortlessly. Come on now we're giving Jon way too much credit buying into the type so much. Aspinall, Tuivasa, Blaydes, Pavlovich, Volkov, Derrick Lewis, all these guys would absolute destroy Jon at heavyweight, which is why he's avoiding all of them. He was practically gifted the belt because Ngannou vacated it. He's admitted that he's ducking Tom, who is definitely the best heavyweight atm. There's a reason Jon refused to fight DC at heavyweight, because he knew DC would be too big to handle and has great wrestling, just like Tom most of the heavyweight division does aside from Gane ofcourse. Tom would absolutely destroy Jones, no questions asked.

Jon been fighting smaller, shorter guys with a 12 inch reach disadvantage his whole career. He's so full of it. He has also fought much older guys like Glover and DC and Stipe. Not to mention at the start of his career when he was taking out legends with ease. But no, he can't be expected to take on the younger guy. 🙄

Jon says finally found somebody that can give him a challenge. A lot of people thought Dominick Reyes beat him and the first Gustafson fight could have gone either way. If you don't think so look at the video of Jones leaving the Octagon after Gustafson 1. Yeah Aspinall will be more than a challenge for him. He's talking about legacy fights but if he fails to do the Aspinall fight his legacy is being the guy who ducked Francis and Tom. Aspinall is the only guy who makes sense. You want to claim to be the HW champ but you didn't beat the HW champ to get there so at least fight the interim HW champ. Jon's only HW fights he beats a guy who was interim champ and loses the unification fight then an ex champ who was ranked 8th and is 42 years old.

I'm tired of people saying Bones is scared and he's ducking is literally crazy to me. He fights for a living, the thing is because you all want him to take an L because you all don't like him for whatever reasons. You all talk about age difference between Bones and Stipe but the age difference between Bones and Aspinall is far worse. There's nothing in it for Bones but money so he should get paid handsomely for the fight. Everything to lose and nothing to gain so chase the bag Bones besides Aspinall hasn't done enough to even be in the octagon against the Greatest Of All Time. Someone please talk about their age difference
