Had my first spar (kickbokx) this week as a beginner (but lover of MMA)...Man its so hard to remember to execute combos when youre actually in there! I felt my movement was good, defence also..but offense was severely lacking. Normal for a first timer obviously, but eager to learn and started remembering ''oh yeah ive watched a gazillion MMASHREDDED videos why am I not remembering the combos''and now I realised: I need a single (or two max) combos or ideas I need to work on. This way I think I will learn more! So here I am rewatching so many videos and this one so far has really helped me a bunch! The hook bodykick is one im going to try!

That's awesome, and good job for getting out there and trying! I'm 46, I started Muay Thai this January (2024). I took part in my first First IKF-PKB point Muay Thai tournament Bout (11/23/24). I lost by split decision. But even with that, i had a lot of fun. And Learned SOOOOO much. I believe I'll do it again. But I will 100% work on the cardio. That was what really got me. Everyday cardio is definitely different than "fighting" cardio. :)

First off, I would like to compliment the extensive wardrobe options in this video. I really like these beginner/fundamentals videos. Reminders of the importance of explaining not only the "how" but also the "why" to beginners. Your narratives are always top notch. As for future content ideas, limited space rounds to complicate technique choices, super close quarters sparring, categorization of why a technique worked so well (power, appropriate technique or leverage etc.), anything clinch (especially judo v MT), planned counters to anticipated/expected counters, distance manipulation (making ourselves appear closer/further than we are), 2 v 2/3 v 3 haha, sparring outside of a gym to create an adverse condition (beach, rain, slope, snow, ball pit), your favorite MMA gear/products, rare submission/technique use, unequal conditioned sparring (no use of jab, cross etc), breathing work, controlling the centerline and anything using WC - Ip Chan stuff😂

Nice Jeff. So smart. I like 1 & 7 because throwing a left hook people arent usually looking for it and its harder to see it coming. I like your point about the knee being more powerful than the kick. The momentum from left attack to right attack throw more weight into it. Nice.:)

The first combo is interisting because you keep your right hand high to kick your opponent. It's not only about balance, but also to keep your opponent distant from you and if you put your hand above his hand you can avoid some punch from him

That always going to be my favorite kick. The roundhouse kicks. I use it to strike the knees, mid section, and head. And always use it when l be doing combos of course. Those who spars with me and fought against me will know that to. I also use side kicks with combos and hook kicks with combos, there l believe it works best, especially you throw a few fakes to catch your opponent by surprise. I use knee strikes when l'm very close to My opponent. Great video Jeff. Keep it up 👍

This is fkn brilliant. Im a karate guy who hasn’t sparred much but has started doing mma type sparring at my dojo on Sundays. I use your videos to get ideas.
