Thanks for posting such informative and educational content. We’re running a little older technology in our operation. Deere 3010 with a 4-row 7000 Max e Merge planter. Cultivated three times over. That’s when I see doubles and skips... A little late to make adjustments!Technology has definitely come a long way! Blessings!

Loved this video. I learned more about the computer and settings processes than ever before. I was an "Old School" farmer. Before the computer age. Where you just filled a seeder/planter and off you went to sow. I've never used a tractor or seeder where you had to program your seed and how you wanted it distributed. So this video educated me somewhat. Looking forward to the ones hereafter.

Best farming videos I've seen. I grew up on my grandpas farm in Iowa in the 1960s and 70s, we used Farmall M and John Deere 490 four row planter. The size of todays equipment is amazing. What is the model and H.P. of the J.D. you are planting with?

We are using an 8335R. 335 horsepower. I believe that is the engine h.p. rating.

Just found your channel this morning and I'm catching up on your content. I grew up on a dairy farm just across the Mississippi in WI and my Dad still does farm there. I'm in rural southeast Minnesota now (Plainview/Elgin) and I've got to say I'm loving your videos. No one has explained things as you are and I really enjoy and appreciate it. Thanks for sharing with with us and keep up the great work. I was just watching the farmers loading their JD planter in the field by our home this morning.

so much technology in today's tractors. with auto steer. I kinda think it takes a little bet of fun out of farming but that's my opinion I'm used to the old 4320 4440

Ross Weiss I don't have any experience with farming but I agree with you 100 percent I have been running equipment for most of my life and I would prefer older equipment without a computer and GPS because it takes skill to run them and experience

The new tractors are better for better yield and effiency

Alix Element I'm sure they are when it comes to to farming but I have equipment for tight area's and I have a excavator that I can drive into any business with a 36in door opening it makes repairing grease traps 100 times easier than by hand. I drove my great aunts old John Deere tractor to mow his lawn 16 years ago in Michigan that was the only time that I drove one because out here in Vegas the only time you see farming equipment is when it's getting shipped to Cali

Excellent and fascinating video, you explain the tech really well. Things have changed massively since I worked on farms back in the 1980's (that makes me feel really old lol!), you need a degree in computing by the looks of it! How many acres do you currently farm and do you contract out to other farms? Many thanks for taking the time to post this video, I have subbed and am looking forward to the next instalment.👍 Take care from the 🇬🇧. 🍀👍

Thank you! We are running 2,500 acres right now. The only thing we hire done at this point is some fertilizer application and soil sampling. In the future I hope we can do those on our own also.

Neat video! Curious on how you have the Climate App mapping without the 2020 seed sence? We want to do the same with our planter and not buy the 2020.
@MillennialFarmer8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We're not running the 2020 stuff. We're just using the JD Seedstar XP on the 2630. Nothing from Precision Planting on our planter. I know it can be done though, our Climate/Fieldview guys are telling us we should get the 2020 for next year.
@MillennialFarmer8 жыл бұрын
After reading your question again I might have not answered what you were looking for. The Fieldview app is picking the information up wirelessly through a Bluetooth device that's plugged into the can-bus port inside the tractor. You can also do it by transferring the data with a USB, but obviously that won't be in real time. The Bluetooth "puck" is from Climate and it was $200 or $250. I wouldn't go without it though.
@jacksonstipe19668 жыл бұрын
Cool thanks for the info. I was thinking you had to have 2020 to have FieldView Drive to work. Good to know I'll have to look into it.

@MillennialFarmer8 жыл бұрын
So far they're awesome! I'm pretty convinced that we're getting better ride quality and singulation because the planter is riding smoother. they don't hardly carve at all when I turn and they don't leave ridges in the soft/mellow areas like the tires. Also when I have to lift a little through a muddy spot they don't start to push mud like the tires do.
@venu28418 жыл бұрын
how u used to irrigate those massive fields??
@MillennialFarmer8 жыл бұрын
Venu Gopal We don't have any irrigators. Our soils are actually too heavy and we install a lot of below ground drain tile. There are a lot of irrigated 160 acre fields east of us. They use large center-pivot irrigators.
