Dealing so effectively with such formidable gradients without a rack system is more than a little impressive.

The entire train line set up beginning from Germany to Switzerland and mainline Europe is just like heaven to me. The panoramic view of tracks passing thru neighbourhood's, green fields mountains is something no one can match. I am a scale model train enthusiast and derive ideas from these kind of lovely videos. Many so called proud nations must learn what train actually means. Thank you for this wonderful video.

It is important that all seats line up with windows. With many new trains in the UK, some seats provide no window view. What a design failure!

This is a wonderful train to ride, panoramic windows, snack bar, etc. It starts at Montreux, Switzerland, from a connected platform at the main SBB station. If i remember rightly, tickets can be bought in advance at SBB stations, although this railway is a private one.

What an absolutely charming little railway with some wonderful views. I'm absolutely amazed at the lack of rack & pinion and also 'check' rails. Surely it doesn't run all the year with thick snow everywhere. I thought it was a very good video, if one is going to be fussy about every minor detail, then I would like to see that person make a better one.

Excellent video of a fascinating, scenic train route. These tracks are unbelievably forever ascending up mountains with outstanding views of the countryside and neighboring villages with rolling hills and driveways, tightly nestled near the tracks. Nothing is wasted along the way, but am a little perplexed as to whether this is a train or tram. Further, the train or tram passed by a number of stations with passengers waiting. Why? it appears that it's the only train/tram. Nevertheless, the video is fantastic and appreciate it much. Thank you......
@EricStrijbos10 жыл бұрын
Valtrus - in absence of the poster of the clip - that question makes me think what exactly is a train and what a tram, but I've been on this train and the Golden Pass Line covers quite a distance between different towns and villages, and is not intended for local transport inside towns. (I admit, the lines are a bit blurred in Switzerland, where you have narrow-gauge trains that stop in front of the station instead of at the platforms inside and do street-running, like the train Chur-Arosa.) However, if you listen to the MOB on-board announcement, you can hear the Golden Pass line being called a train. The people waiting on the station are probably waiting for a local train that's following behind the Golden Pass Express, which is primarily aimed at tourists and will not stop everywhere, as you've noticed. Hats off to Silverdolby for sharing this video of a great journey.

The simplest definition is --------- if the thing can stop anywhere on the route to let passengers alight , it's a tram.................if you can only alight at a fixed place onto a raised platform, it's a train. Now wait for the protest from the...................... Stavros Neopedestrienne

Don't worry at all about the angle! Still a lot to see for a rail enthusiast - as most of the rail infrastructure lays on the ground anyway ;) Ok, ok, it is a electrified line but the catenary looked good anyway :) For me the most exciting details were the old disconnected rails which were once connected to the main line and how you can observe the rails you are on from the outer side and then from the inner side...
