I love how Mob Psycho throws you for a loop and tricks you into thinking it's a lot darker than it actually is, like with Minecraft Steve getting butchered, or Shigeo's family being burned alive.

He was about to reach the ??? state but Dimple managed to distract him quickly. The percentage was far over 100 but it didn't reach ??? yet. But it was close, yeah. Probably the only time we saw him going to this state while being still conscious.

It's been quite the journey for Dimple, from someone who insisted Mob use his psychic powers as a shortcut to solve all of his problems, to acknowledging that hard work and training can not only work just as well; but be better than psychic powers. You seem to have misunderstood the essence of sper so I'll try to explain: Basically anyone can be born a sper, mob for example is the son of two completely ordinary people and still is the most powerful one in the world Basically being a sper means you are born with the ability to absorb spiritual energy from the environment and manifest that energy in the form of psychic powers, The most basic power is Telekinesis, but theoretically if you have enough energy than you can have any power, but some people tend to be more powerful in some aspects than in another ones Mob for exemple: he has an absurd amount of spiritual energy, but he never got to specialize it in anything, so he focuses that energy on Telekinesis, but in theory he could have any power if he wanted to

It's actually "ESP-er", where "esp" = "extra sensory perception", so an esper would be one with extra sensory perception. Of course, they've gone a little further than just perception. :)

Manga Additional Facts: Anime is kinda rushed out but just to explain a little bit about the anime forgot to highlight about Ultimate 5 is that: -The plan of 1 vs 1000 is just a mob mentality plan just to keep the artificial on track. The real plan was 5 vs. 600,000 or 1 vs. 600,000. -The Umbrella Guy is the strongest in Ultimate 5 second to the Boss, it was supposed to be revealed in the fight against the Smoker Guy of Government, that's also the reason why's the Boss see a lot of potential to him. -Red Hulk guy is actually skinny but his crazy psychic powers could shred his muscles to the fullest. -Dimple has a significantly weaker psychic compared to the Red Hulk guy but Muscle Usage is mostly leaning to Physical strength and not just psych, that's why Red Hulk Guy was beaten up by Captain with Dimple. -It was a great touch to actually made Dimple realize how physical capabilities or muscles could be potentially be stronger when working with psychic powers, remember how Dimple always mock Mob at the beginning about strengthening "muscles"? Also the Red Hulk guy was
