I love those ultra optimistic songs by Moby :) Especially when they speak of treatment some people get in life, you know, some good meaningful art for not too pretentious people staring at things at point blank range and seeing nothing whatsoever :)

even the most beautiful, most simple of memories becomes torn apart... You can't breathe, you can't smile, you don't even have a face anymore. You just continue - even though any sweet purpose are dignified dream has long since evaporated. The smoke rising from the city is a perfect final touch on the robotic, spiritless world that we are driving ourselves into. that's what this video makes me think about.

I think it's about betrayal. When a person makes you forget about everything and brings reason to the dull and random everyday life. The clouds covering her face could represent that his perception of her was blinded by love. In a moment of realization she become a beast. Shooting you in the back of the head with the help of another describes the hurt and hypocrisy perfectly, most of the act was already done before you could even perceive any damage. They run away, everyday life goes on and you're left searching for a way and a meaning with only half of your face, dignity and identity left. All you have is a memory, your hand still reaching for her head and the way it used to be. The initials SIT BOTH might be about sitting and talking it through. Oh the power of projection.
@Lippy_As_Hell8 жыл бұрын
brilliant, thank you.

Actually, the video (literally) shows a city lost in darkness and smoke. Inside a room a man touches himself, you know, sexually, to have a contact with a woman he used to know, this desire is a shot in the back of the head, because every single time he relives everything, again and again, he wanted to reach the stars, which for him was to feel her face one last time. That desire ends up hurting him, and he becomes lost in the darkness and the smoke of the city with his last reach for the stars.
@Marxll007 жыл бұрын
The lack of her body seems like a clear sign of a platonic connection to me. I fail to see the sexual connotation of the fantasy.
@DemoniacLL7 жыл бұрын
The man is moving his hand (off camera, you see the arm jerking around), at 0:33, her face is a symbol of her presence, it means that despite the act is sexual, physically sexual, its a pure thing, he cares. But it still is desire. Btw EVERY film David Lynch has done, EVERY SINGLE ONE is sexual or has a moment about this relation with desire. (except for the Straight Story and Dune, that approach things differently...its still there, but much more distant) - Its his main subject.
@dertollekanal18337 жыл бұрын

MOBY IS THE EINSTEIN OF MUSIC! The way he creates a tune, a tune that can make us feel the way he makes his music on. he manages to create emotions through his music through this song I feel weightless, everything goes in slow-motion. at 1:08 the world start spinning fast around, as i'm moving slowly.. no worries.. no problems.
