What people don't get, and I learned this several times the hard way, is that: Reference modelling is very complicated and time consuming. The more complicated the mesh, the more polygons, texture space and time it will take. Instead of modelling something something exactly to scale. Measure the fundamental shapes that give the object its charactereistics in terms of scale, not exact dimensions. Focus on the basic shapes and those details that give it the extra oomph. Improvise and make up details as you go that are easy to model. Your future self will thank you for the time and effort saved.

Alright, I'm going to ditch the exact dimensions, pin-point accuracy approach to modelling, thank you sincerely.

I couldn't agree more. It's so much easier to scale the design after.

thanks for the video man! @1:10, I couldn't find the way to download the full size image with watermarks... I can only find the low resolution ilmage for the thumbnail in the console. Can you help?
@crossbowproductions
@crossbowproductions 3 жыл бұрын
Find the blueprint you want to download and open its page. To open up the inspector, you can push ctrl + shift + i, or right click and select "inspector." A window should pop up on the right side of your screen. There should be multiple links to different versions of images, and you can see their resolution by hovering over them. After that you should be able to select the image and download it. (Sometimes the highest resolution you can get it something like 1280 x 905, so it can seem like the low resolution version). Hope that helps!

Could someone explain what "disparity in height" means? Difference in height but like height difference between objects or? Thank you!
@crossbowproductions
@crossbowproductions 3 жыл бұрын
It basically means adding as many insets and extrusions as possible. The more shadows and hotspots you have, the more it tricks your eye into accepting the object is real, since real life objects have so much detail.
